This whole Mayo situation is so obvious they're going to do what bad organizations do they're going to let him scapegoat the OC and DC and waste another year of Drake Maye.

Jerod Mayo knew he was coach in waiting for years, he knew Bill was getting fired by November so he doesn't get any OC/DC excuses from me he had plenty of time to plan who he would want on his staff.
They will have an exodus of fans if they keep Mayo another year.

Making a mistake is one thing, refusing to rectify it is another.

Ben Johnson, Joe Brady, Kellen Moore, Kliff Kingsbury, Mike Vrabel, Josh McDaniels.
Any highschool coach in the world, would be a huge upgrade.
Josh McDaniels is a huge failure and even at OC he's been hot trash anywhere without Brady. Kliff Kingsbury had a QB and some talent and failed. Vrabel failed to get it done on very talented teams with a capable QB, a generational running back and a stud WR. He also wants full control.

I'm all for moving on from Mayo if there's a clear upgrade that's realistic. But don't be desperate and get failures who couldn't win in much better situations who are also total headcases.

Ben Johnson and Joe Brady are the only ones from your list I would consider and I don't see any world in which they actually come here.

The first solution is to do what I actually wanted and not hire Mayo to begin with and go far away from the last regime if you were moving on from Bill. The new solution is not to get desperate for another failure and drag this out and make the team look even more incompetent. The Patriots would be the laughing stock of the NFL if they had a year of Mayo and then rushed him out for ****ing Josh McDaniels.

Nothing really new to say. Entire staff needs to be fired as does the personnel staff.

I mean total teardown.

It won’t happen, so next year will be more of this same thing.
I get the desire for a teardown, but what do you replace it with?

How can Krafty Bob look at today's performance, coming off a bye against at best a mediocre team, and say Mayo's my guy? But we know the team's off field performance takes a back seat to Bob's other causes

People keep saying this and frankly, it's wishful thinking.

Fans just don't really leave in mass like that. They'll still have all their season ticket holders, at best maybe the secondary market dies down a bit.

The only times you really see fans have an exodus are rare scenarios like

1. Dan Snyder being a total creep and embarassing the fanbase year after year to the point where people were ashamed of the team.

2. When the Chargers moved to a rival city and their San Diego fans abandoned them and LA didn't care about them.

Ridiculous he could say that about anything you know if it wasn’t for us calling that blitz when we did their QB wouldn’t of threw that first down conversion.

If our runningback could have broken every tackle during the game we would have won.
Just a tone deaf comment from a coach who just got blown out

I thought Curran said he and Wolf got 3 year deals or something of the like. But I would really be shocked to see Mayo back this team looks worse now then when they started the season. Gonzo is an all pro and Drake is the future every one else is up for upgrades .
Upgrades is a non-sense word right now with this team.

You simply don't know who or what you have out there with this coaching ineptitude.

I'm just remembering the end of the Pete Carroll era and what we really thought about the players on that team.

We thought they were awful players.

The NFL GMs said the 2001 team had the worst talent in the NFL.

Until you get real coaching, you simply don't know what you have.

This doesn't mean that I believe our WRs or Vederian Lowe are any good. It does mean there are a lot of players on this team who might actually be pretty good.

No one knows.

If you can’t do your Job well it’s time for a different vocation.
Exactly. If you base your decision on whether it would disuade a guy afraid he will go 3-14 from taking the job, you already lost.

Schooler is the real deal. Need to see more of him.

Mayo and the gang need to go completely right now. You put feelers out to possible HC candidates and tell them it's a black slate AND a blank check.

Get a real staff in there that is young, and hungry to turn Maye and Gonzo into superstars. There can't be an OC in the league right now that isn't seeing Maye and salivating about working with him. Use that to your advantage.

If Kraft fired Mayo, it would be a great sign that he won’t tolerate losing
An added benefit is that it would give underperformers like Polk, the feeling of getting a do over since the previous regime was swept out.

He wouldve backstabbed no one if the meddling cheap owner let Parcels shop for the groceries
Im not going to argue about the backstabbing owner, but Parcells put that deal in place long before the 1996 NFL draft.

He talked to the Jets after the 1995-96 season, which is why he asked Kraft to remove his buyout and shorten the contract to the final year.

Phew, even though it would've cost me peanuts, I'm glad I didn't fly out to watch the game.

Living up to his scouting report.

Tell me you don't watch the games, without telling me you don't watch the games.

Their jobs depended on getting Polk to do anything, because he was the 34th pick in the draft.

I fear this kid is really hopeless, and that if they ever do change coaches, he'll have no one in his corner anymore.

He's a sunk cost.

If they fire AVP/Covington what serious candidate with an eye on being a head coach in the future is going to work for Mayo cause even if he survives this year he's a dead man walking and the clock is already ticking.
This is an excellent point.

It just never ends well when you're going down this road.

Maye is better than Mac. It is fun to watch Maye. But the balance of the team looks worse to me and I find that very worrying. Before it was replace Mac and we have a chance. Now it is like a huge wall to climb.
I mean let's be real, the people who thought Mac was the only problem and replacing him was going to fix everything were high on copium. The team is hot garbage. Even if you just isolate it away from bad coaching, the line is just ****ing awful and full of guys who really should not be here. Lowe is an embarrassment and he's here because we've let a several lineman walk in free agency over the years because we didn't want to pay a preemium in an era where teams are coveting lineman. Aside from Meyers, we haven't had a single WR worth a damn in years. Polk is objectively bottom of the league by a country wide margin. Today Maye hit a WR in the hands and they basically tossed the ball to a defender.... and the sad thing is.... I've seen Patriots receivers do that multiple times over the last few years.

Mac sucked and Maye's way better, and I really hope this fanbase recognizes that despite that, the team has a serious issue with the guys around them. And as much as I wouldn't lose sleep on Mayo getting replaced for someone like Ben Johnson or whoever you want.... I REALLY REALLY hope that fans aren't just using that as another quick fix and thinking if you change the coach the trash we've had for years are magically going to get better. They will not. Lowe is still going to suck, the center is still going to be trash, the WR's are still going to have low separation rates and **** hands (and if you notice the bad coaching hasn't been stopping someone like Henry who is actually good from eating).

There's a point where no matter what happens in the front office, they do need to actually do the work to fix the team's roster. It's been neglected way too long and there's been way too man golden carrots of "well if we just get rid of this really bad QB or if we just get rid of this really bad OC or this coach" no they can suck, they suck independently of by far the biggest problem. The team has been a cesspool of untalented players for years and it actually might take awhile to dig ourselves out of this hole to have a shot at being competitive again.
