Patriots Early 53-Man Roster Projection 1.0

Im not going to account for every ratio of offense and STs snaps. If memory serves, at Cincy when he had around 25 or 30 snaps he had around 8-10 snaps on ST. That stands to reason he'll do the same thing here.

Clearly if he hits the 45-50 snap range he was taken out of ST.

Why rely on memory when the actual numbers are so easy to look up on pro-football-reference, among other resources?

Only 1 UDFA of 21 is a heartbreaker . but at the moment looks good.

Bill might prefer Grissom, Bolden, Freeny . but for now we can have our fun.

Looking at 2018 . if they want to give away Foster they should extend Lewis if he's game.

For some more fun . lets say they go again with just 4 IOLs . who's your #54 you'd promote?

I agree on 51 players.

1) I think of Rivers as an OLB. Therefore, I see the need for another DE: Grissom for now. I have one fewer LB. I think that it is either Roberts or Langi. I keep Roberts for now. So: Grissom instead of Langi. Freeney is also possible, since this position is likely to be primarily a ST position.

2) I don't think that Douglas adds much at IOL. This "position" can filled with 2 o3 Practice Squad players. I use the position for a backup SS, Richards for now.
So: Ricahrds instead of Douglas.

I agree, but we might wait for Lewis to be healthy for a couple of games before we extend him.

While he is very different from what we lost, the plan for Guy is a factor here. We added him without losing a DT so he could get a good amount of DE time. We lost Ninkovich, Sheard, Long and added Ealy, Guy and the rookies. Plus Van Noy and McClellin are versatile and know the system better now. Throw in Harris who could move Hightower to DE/OLB at times. For now that's enough DE/OLB (along with Flowers) to make my preference to keep more upside whoever that may be.

I would likely choose a defensive player - the other offensive position groups have enough numbers - and based on who just missed my cut - GGrossem, DKilgo, JFreeny, TBates, JColeman, DTravis & DJones - I would probably choose Jones, with Travis as 1B, mainly because 2 of the other Safeties - Ebner & BKing - are not really Safeties at all, so it would be useful if somebody else besides Chung, McCourty & Harmon could actually play the position.
