Steve, your roster projection has Okorafor at LT. That might work. His back up is Calvin Anderson, who might live.

Reclaim McDermott off waivers. Saved our butt two years ago at the RT dumpster fire. And at season’s end last year surprised me by being almost decent at LT.

True swing tackle.

And who’s the backup for aged David Andrews at center? Leveret? No, that’s not going to work.

Last draft BB criminally failed to address RT. Dawand Jones fell into our laps in the third round. What’s Marty McPoo? We’ll never figure it out.

This year LTs were snatched up fast. Too fast. So LT had to have been addressed in the second round. Patrick Paul who the Phins took at 55 or the BYU kid. There was no way this should have been put off. And I acknowledge Polk will be great.

So, yeah, you’re right to consider the OL “a big, big question.” Football is won or lost in the trenches.

We’re setting it up nicely to ruin our second franchise QB with a weak WEAK tackle group.

But that’s what happened before—to the Jets. They learned the lesson the hard way. Remember Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson, those “franchise quarterbacks”? Do you see who they drafted this year? My LT1, Olu Fashanu. And he figures to be a backup for vet Tyron Smith.

It’s a lesson the Patriots will learn this season. Again, the hard way.

Meanwhile, all the pressure will be on Maye while another enormously talented guy will be developing on the sideline. Joe Milton III.

JM3 is the saving grace of this draft. But we’re the new Jests.

I'm not loving Steve's mix of offense (23) to defense (26).

Running back in particular (only 3) is too few. Maybe one more RB and one less front seven.

I hope I am wrong, but as I look at the roster I see way too many jags and question marks, as opposed to positions that inspire confidence.

We’re definitely going through a roster overhaul. I think this draft did lay a solid if overall unremarkable start to the foundation of the offense.

Are any of the RBs that didn’t make his cut worthy of knocking off any other position? I think a few on the practice squad for elevations will be the smart play as it stands.

Damn, I had forgotten about Dawand Jones. He went from being considered a late first round possibility all the way to the fourth due to his weight. I recall many here (including myself) clamoring for him in that draft - and rightfully so, considering how he dropped, plus the makeup of the roster/need for a RT.

Then to add insult to injury the Patriots draft a backup center and a kicker in the fourth, both of whom are likely to not even make it to a second season with the team that drafted them.

Don't mind me, I suppose I am still a bit salty about the way the draft unfolded.

My preference would have been for a TE in the fourth rather than the guard.
Tip Reiman and Ja'Tavion Sanders were both off the board at that point, but Theo Johnson, AJ Barner, Erick All, Cade Stover and Jared Wiley were all still available. All five of them went in the fourth round.

Next I was hoping for a RB in the fifth or possibly sixth, but that 5th was gone due to the trade up.
Then Pats addressed another need (FS) rather than RB before adding a backup QB in the 6th.

I thought Dylan Laube would have been a great addition, especially with the new kickoff rules, but the Pats already had Gibson as a third down back. Probably the type of player that was a draft luxury the team couldn't afford.

Isaiah Davis was another player I liked a lot, but the Jets took him seven picks before the Pats drafted Dial.

Kimani Vidal is an every down RB that could spell carries with Rhamonde, taken one pick after Dial.

Jase McClellan is another, who slid due to a late season injury.

Enough with my *****in'. The draft is over and cannot be undone.

Hopefully Kevin Harris (he's only 23) produces this year with more playing time, and one of Fenwick/Hasty/Vaughn takes a step forward as well.

I agree with a lot of that, as I thought a young TE would’ve been a good thing to have in the pipeline. I’m more concerned with the tackle position, as I think they were caught off guard a bit by that run on them. But, as you said, the draft is done and I see the logic in what wolf did.

The fact that Harris is still around and they haven’t added anyone is a hopeful sign for him, for sure!

Mister Anderson, Strange69 & DawgHouse Bourne to start the season on PUP... Added Tyler Boyd today just Because... JuJu ****-canned, damn the Cap; Booty = too slow AND too stupid... I'd rather have Reagor (& Thornton until I added Boyd) than those two... Marcellus Dial/Kalen King to PS if waivers are cleared.

IMO, that's also a description of Milton.

He also only has three safeties. In any case, Andrews plays both guard and center (and started at LG in Week 18 last season), so I think he has a pretty good shot to make the roster. [While elevations can be used to do so, if a team wants to dress 48 players on game day, at least 8 of them must be OLs.]
