Patriots-Eagles Joint Practice (8/16)

I try to avoid Youtube. Is that a compilation of Brady passes that led immediately to Gronk getting hurt by feeding him right into defenders who popped him high? Because that's not what happened with the Ward hit, for example (Ward targeted Gronk's knee), or the Thomas hit (Brady threw it behind Gronk, who didn't completely adjust for the catch, lost out to Chancellor as a result, and then got popped when he kept moving forward). And it's not what happened when Gronk had the arm re-injured, or when he was hurt on special teams (broken arm on a PAT). Etc...

Gronk going up the seam with a safety over the top. What do you thing is gonna happen if Gronk gets a pass thrown to him?

So you would rather his brain turn to mush like Welker

Either way Brady fed him to defenders to get annihilated.

I agree. He certainly threw his fair share of hospital balls to Welker, Edelman and Gronk. One in particular got Gronk’s knee shredded and a few other scares to the knee.

No.…this was the only time Gronk’s knee got shredded. This wasn’t due to the pass.

Yeah he should be one of those QBs who only throws passes to receivers that have no one within 20 yards and can’t be tackled.

So you don't really understand the difference between passes in traffic and hospital balls, then.

Got it. That explains your posts.

I see rational talk is secondary to your agenda.

Of CoUrSe hIs KnEe wAs GuNnA gEt ShReDdEd!

The pass actually led him away from the defender with more than enough reaction time than is required...unfortunately **** happens. That’s a routine play that happens all the time.

Act like Brady hasn't thrown hospital balls. This delusion is like maga supporter levels

Not mad. Brady exploited the middle to 6 NE SBs. Loved it. But under no circumstances do I pretend he didn't put his fair share of receivers in danger because he lived throwing in the middle of the field.

I hope Mac does the same thing

Gronk going up the seam and the safety sitting on the route. No the pass wasn't the issue lol. Like I said, MAGA level delusion.

Seems like our lack of speed in the secondary got exposed a bit today.

also looks like our defensive line got pushed around a bit today also,

Where did I deny Brady has thrown hospital balls? The play you referenced is not one of them.

Talk about a hissy fit, your the one who needs some Ice Ice. Whatever the media is saying the fact remains that Newton has improved on his knowledge of the offensive system. He IS making his share of good throws, but you'd hardly know it. You know that this is early. Jones isn't seeing anything really that he will see in a defense that prepared all week for what the Pats do. And then all the DIFFERENT defensive systems that people run week to week.

Brady saw this in the QB room and practice for a full year before he became a starter. Brady WAS a game manager early on for years (my demarcation point where he went from a game manager to game difference maker was the 2004 superbowl game) That's a full 4 years for it to happen, and HE was and is the GOAT I can remember even in 2005 and 2006 there were still a lot of people who thought of him as a game manager. It wasn't until after 2007 that he was universally acknowledged as ONE of the top QB's

My hope is that Jones will be the QB Chad Pennington might have been if he hadn't been injured or even better. Jones has shown that he is super smart and can process the field fast.....FOR A ROOKIE!! He will need thousands of reps before he will go from a game manager tot a difference maker. IF he starts right now I wouldn't be surprise to see veteran DC's make him look like a........rookie QB Not the savior that everyone hopes he will be. And he COULD be that guy, but not THIS year. THIS year the best we could hope is that he is a good "game manager.

Well after a year without even that, I won’t be hard to please.

No Gilmore and I think Bryant is still hurt right? So it’s kinda slim pickings back there… not super optimistic about the CBs at the moment but there’s time and I do ultimately expect Gilmore back before camp closes.

You can’t not throw that pass. 3 steps before contact is not a hospital ball, it’s wide open.

Jonathan Jones missed part of practice, too. It did answer one question, though. Joejuan Williams was the next guy up, not Michael Jackson.

2-0 against Brady. lol....I love that one. Do you know how many players had covid last year? I have not heard that excuse from any of them, and some of them were actually sick. White had an off year becuase he went from the goat to a guy who has trouble throwing a forward pass.

Many players had COVID, but no other player was coming in to a new team in late June, not having camp at all, and supposed to pick up a complex offensive system. If we are being honest, Newton wasn't known as an accurate passer prior to getting here...he was known as an athletic QB. Also, as I alluded to in another post...White's problem wasn't only catching balls...it was also in pass protection (and someone else pointed out that pass protection has a lot to do with where the QB is as well). In addition, Jayson Tatum was hit hard by COVID as well and took about 5-6 weeks to get back to normal before he started dropping 50 point games towards the end of the season.

And 2-0 is still 2-0...just like Brady has never ever beaten the Patriots!

Yep, the "Brady is just a game manager" refrain lasted for years. And I always said "OK, but that's a compliment." A QB who executes his team's offense consistently, taking what's available, making solid decisions, short on heroics and highlight reel plays but also short on costly mistakes...that's a good quarterback. Not a great quarterback, but one who can quietly pile up a lot of wins.

We often recall that Chad Pennington was a good QB before his arm was shredded. We often forget that two different teams decided it was still worth starting him for full 16-game seasons even after his arm had to be duct-taped onto his body before games. And both of those teams made the playoffs.
