All of our current DTs are way younger than Guy. Time will tell if they are better than Guy at this point in his career.

Cook is “meh”. He’s “3 yds and a cloud of dust” at this point in his career. He doesn’t offer anything more than Hasty or Jennings right now.
I didn’t say they were older than Guy, I said they aren’t young developing players. What they are is cheap.

Cook is only 29, before last year he had 4 straight 1000 yards seasons and never averaged under 4.4 a carry. He offers more than 28 year old 410 career yards Hasty. Even if you doubt that maybe Cook has lost it, what do you lose? When did this fan base change from do everything you can to improve the team to do nothing and accept we won’t go after good players?

My guess would be Robinson goes in at LG and Onwenu goes back inside to RG. Wallace or Okorafor at RT. This is assuming Lowe is back as well at LT.

I doubt the new tackles will be ready to go week 1.
I'm leaning towards Robinson-Andrews-Onwenu in the middle as well and that might just be their best interior anyway. Sow is fine but Robinson is better in the run game. Then the tackles are either Lowe/Okorafor if Lowe is healthy, or Okorafor/Wallace if Lowe is not healthy. Assume Lowe gets healthy by week 2 or 3, at which time either Okorafor goes back to RT, Wallace takes the job permanently, or Jacobs challenges for a job.

Surprised to see Jordan potentially be let go (if Reiss is correct) considering Sow's situation. Either Robinson fills in for him on the left, and Onwenu goes back to RG, or Leverett will be at guard, or they are confident that the new guy Thomas can start at guard pretty fast. Unless, of course, Sow is back for week 1. Still - the depth is a little questionable at the moment while things shake out. Seemed sensible to hold Jordan short term.

On the other hand, moving Robinson to left guard, Onwenu back to right guard, Okorafor back to right tackle, and getting Lowe back to left tackle might actually just be their best lineup anyway. Onwenu in the middle helps with interior pressure, and Robinson on the left helps with running the ball to the left.

Curious to see if Jacobs (or Wallace) can push Lowe or Okorafor at all as a few weeks pass. Thomas will be nice guard depth, though it ends up being a lot of guards with Sow, Robinson, Strange coming back, Leverett, and possibly Onwenu depending on what position he plays in addition to Thomas.
I think you have to out Onwenu at RG. He is a very good RG and has issues at T. He’s smart but he lacks the ability you need to be a really good OT.
I’d rather put him where he is best and play the flotsam over moving him out of position and play the jetsom.

I think they need to just put Wallace at RT and let him figure it out. If he is worse than the other Ts we have, better to figure it out now and move on.

Yes I agree. I think Wallace looked fine at RT in the preseason too. Just leave him there, Onwenu at RG, Andrews at C. Robinson can be the LG until Sow is healthy and then decide what you want to do, and then again once Strange is healthy. Okorafor is the LT until Lowe is healthy, then re-evaluate. If Jacobs can challenge for LT, all the better.

Robinson looked like a guy who doesn’t belong in the league on Sunday
This board severely overrates Sow but he is miles ahead of Robinson.

I think you need to put Wallace at RT, chunks at LT and scheme to help whichever one has the better pass rusher lined up on them with rb or TE help.

It began with the Cam Newton signing....and the team has been grooming us to accept suck ever since

Should I just sit silently and be happy the team didn’t try to improve? Should I just get comfortable with losing more and Kraft getting richer?

You get a wrench too.

QBs: Better. Maye, Brissett and Milton are better than Jones, Zappe and whoever else was here.
WRs: Better
RBs: Better
TEs: Same or Better
OL: No improvement seen yet, Chuks and Wallace TBD. Maybe Worse.

Do you understand how bad the offense was?

I wonder how far away strange is and if he could end up at LT.

Lowe should not be on the field.

I also have to wonder if they brought in Thomas as a guard (which he has been playing) or to make him a tackle again. They are replete with guards assuming Onwenu goes back to guard, and especially so once Strange returns.

I'm a big believer in strength up the middle on the OL. If a smart QB has room to step up in the pocket, you can do a lot of cover up sub-par tackle play (most of the time). If the middle is getting pushed, it not only means a QB has a harder time stepping into throws, but it may force them to drop deeper and right into edge rushers that would normally be forced too deep themselves. So I'd rather put Onwenu at guard, where I think he's at his best and can help provide that. Tackles are going to have to be covered up via scheme for 2024 most likely.

Was it Shakespeare who said dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge
