Im reading that LAC plays a lot of Zone pass defense. Like 80%.

It just so happens that Maye excels at beating Zone hitting Henry and Diggs in the seams and dead spots. Also, Maye likes to run vs a Zone if nothing of value is there by way of the pass.

Conversely, the Pats have the ability to play Man. IIRC, @ Buffalo the Pats were in Man approximately 40% of the snaps.
Good points... Also Tonga is ruled out. We will need to continue to collapse the pocket.. if we aren't getting pressure on the edges the push up front has to be good.

Can the chargers D replicate what the bills did in the 2nd half in the 2nd game where maye couldnt get anything going ? They certainly might have the players for it. That could be the key .
Personally I feel like this is all about the patiots..The chargers play of zone. I expect Drake to hit alot of those soft zones and lean on the run game. On defense for us man coverage would be ideal.

Did Boutte re-injure his hamstring?? He suddenly popped up on the injury report with a hammy.
I sure hope not - that would be a horrible setback. We need a big game from him - even if that doesn't result in a lot of catches, he has earned the respect of defenses.

Yeah I think that happened unfortunately. We could use him.

Sounds like the answer is yes - Vrabel said he’s listed as questionable with a hamstring (along with Landry and Munford)

Vrabel also ruled Tonga out.

Good news is Henderson missed practice for personal reasons and can play, and that Wilson is looks to be out of concussion protocol and can play.

Kayshon Boutte questionable for Patriots-Chargers

As an older gentleman whose ass is much diminished from its former glory, I had been thinking of traveling to Brazil for a rebuttal. Now it turns out I can get one here for free? That's great. It's either that or suspenders. I already have the classic 70's pornostache, and suspenders would have pushed me too near the Wilford Brimley aesthetic.

Sounds like your ass is already traveling to Brazil

Herbert is 2nd to Maye in success against the blitz. I wouldn't blitz and with the interior O-line weakness for LA and Barmore and Williams they shouldn't need to.
I think Herbert is really beat up. They can get to him.

For me, gone are the days of LT and all that drama. I could see myself cheering for the Chargers if I did not like my Pats so much. Like Herbert a lot. Gutsy player, strives to win, low key and just wants to play ball and appreciates being in the NFL out there with the boys. Respect to him. Injury or not he will show up....

That franchise screwed its fans for decades with one of the worst cement stadiums in the nation, then picked up and left after 60+ years of loyalty.

**** that franchise and the horse they rode on on.

Do players take annual flu shots?

Flu shots don’t protect against getting the flu. Just decreases the strength of the disease - reduces potential for hospitalization etc.

If the Pats advance we're gonna need Tonga back soon.
We need Christian Barmore and Milton Williams to step up with all that money they are making between the two. Tonga not playing will not be the reason whether the Pats win or lose.

Landry is probably the big one for me that’s questionable. Want all the pass rush we can.

For a guy who says he struggles with memes and gifs, traveling to Brazil for a "rebuttal" seems pretty topical. I'm starting to call BS on the whole clueless old man schtick.

@irishfanatic I got you, fam.

My slightly embarrassing typo aside, my point still stands:

1. You said: "And there's no question Pats D > Bolts D with Williams", and weren't able to back up your claims with anything other than stand alone stats that lacked the necessary contextual elements needed to deal with the small sample size issues inherent in a 17 game NFL season.
2. You questioned the fandom of folks who dared to have an opposing opinion to yours; basically: if you don't agree with me then there is something wrong with you. You must be a peach in political forums.
3. I'm not saying that advanced stats are perfect, but they are more predictive than stand alone stats.
4. I believe that the Patriots will win because their offensive advantage is greater than their slight defensive advantage.
5. Patriots 27 Chargers 23.
6. If you disagree with me it's okay. I'll find away to get over it.
Not my word. The other poster used that.
His vocab and football acumen both need work

With Spillane back it's huge for the defense. He's the general that sets up everything. We also have had solid play from Ponder and Jennings on the edges.. all we need to do is collapse the pocket even if we aren't getting heavy pressure collapse the pocket move Herbert off his spot.. he's at earnest a pocket passer that can run if need too. We should be able at least collapse the interior with Williams, Barmore, Tonga and Durden..
Having Spillane back is a big improvement. I don’t expect Tonga will be back, but Jennings has been playing DT sometimes recently, and Ponder is coming on recently. Landry should also be back. The defense is getting a good boost.

The fan experience will include photo opportunities with the Patriots Cheerleaders and Pat Patriot, music from a live DJ, and performances from the Patriots drumline. Giveaways will be happening throughout the evening, including JetBlue flight vouchers and the ultimate prize: tickets to Sunday's playoff game.

At 7 p.m. ET, the live Patriots All Access show will broadcast from the plaza and stream on Patriots.com, the Patriots YouTube channel, and WBZ‑TV, giving fans an inside look at the team's preparation and setting the tone for Sunday's showdown.

The broadcast will feature in‑depth analysis from Patriots insiders Scott Zolak, Mike Reiss, Steve Burton, Dan Roche, and Paul Perillo, who will break down key storylines and matchups against the Chargers.

It will be interesting to see if Chargers come out in man coverage since they play so much zone.

Can you point me at peer reviewed research showing that is the case, please? It seems contrary to my intuitive understanding of how those vaccines work so I’d like to educate myself and improve my knowledge and understanding of them.

Thanks!

I paid attention to Jennings last week and I saw a lot of effort on his part and he was around the ball a lot. I think Vrabel may be warming up to him some. I think he is a decent rotational piece.
