Patriots 53 Man Roster Projection 3.0

Measurables aren't all that relevant for safeties, it's all about the instincts. Of course, good instincts and good measurables certainly win.

I agree; which is why I said it’s worth looking to “at least” see how Harmon stacks up in terms of measurable’ s because that is the only thing I can really use at this time since Harmon has not taken a snap in even a preseason game.

You could watch some old Rutgers games.

I’m a pilot so the majority of my time is spent in airports or a hotel room, so unfortunately I do not have a ton of access to television. Is there a website that you can watch old college football games on? I may be able to pull it up on my iPad, I would be interested in seeing how he plays in game action.

I use a torrent site to download games so that wouldn't work with an ipad unless you download them to a PC first.

And shouldn't you be playing with stewardesses in your hotel room rather than your ipad?

I used to brother, that was my primary hobby then I knocked 1 up reggers: almost 4 years ago and we've been happy together ever since. So I try and do the right thing by her and spend my time talking football and creeping on the world wide web :typing:. It's not as fun as playing with the flight attendants but it likely offers more longevity :whoo:.

Do you mean teams or pundits? If first, well you know perfectly well that such a statement can't be corroborated. and if the latter, so what! Pundits don't draft anyone.

I understand your point, and I see no real reason to cut Gregory this year unless they're looking to free up some cap room but you're being harsh on Harmon here.

I'm really not trying to be hard on Duron Harmon. That isn't the intention, it's more to state that we have unproven players back there behind Gregory--who while limited, is at least servicable as a backup rotational safety.

I came back with the choice to point out his projected value because I'm tired of hearing about how great he is already. While I'm obviously very optmistic and excited about him, he certainly shouldn't be continuously lauded for being some great safety either. That is simply untrue, especially in our system and the NFL in general. Here's hoping that he has a good rookie year, T.Wilson improves, and we are able to improve the position of safety even more by releasing Gregory when the season is over.

S I mentioned this in another thread but I think Wilson being part of the 3rd string is more about him facing a mobile QB than being in the doghouse. If you look at the mistakes Wilson made last year they were primarily against when the QB was outside of the pocket. On both of the big plays against Seattle (Wilson) and St Louis (Bradford) were outside of pocket on designed bootlegs to the right side and Wilson got caught looking back and was beat on a double move.

As a safety being able to make good decisions in coverage is essential when the QB is outside of the pocket; with Brady and Mallett primarily pocket passers it makes sense to me to have Wilson matching up with the unit that Tebow is running.

That's just my thoughts, I could be over thinking or being overly optimistic, but I'd love to hear what you think of the possibility of it.

I mean, sure, you could very well be on to something in the sense that they want to see him improve upon his weaknesses; and while those 2 plays stand out as the examples that many use when describing his problems, I tend to think that there was a lot more to it than "just" those two plays alone.

I'm not one to totally give up on Tavon Wilson or to not say that he did some things right and had some flashes of talent etc, but I think that as a whole he is still very much an unknown at the position. In other words, not someone who we'd really want to have to depend on.

Either way I'd still feel better if Gregory stayed one more year myself, at least until Wilson and Harmon get some more valuable reps and experience underneath of them. That's just my humble opinion though, as the subject matter is controversial and there will be those who agree and disagree. I'm by no means trying to say that I'm right or anything.

I appreciate the feedback and based on what you've written in here and in the other thread I'm in agreement it probably makes sense to retain Gregory at least until we know what we have in Harmon and Wilson.

Out of curiosity, do you use Ten Yard Torrents?

Sometimes a player plays with the 3rd string because he is 3rd string.

Most times that is the case, but I think that there is a chance this situation could be different. I'm intrigued to see what group he plays with against Phil.
