Thought it might be useful to have a running thread throughout the year with the anticipated 2020 Patriots draft pick slots. I can update this as trades are made during the year.

Mike Reiss details them here: Jarrett Stidham has best preseason for rookie QB under Bill Belichick

Pats are currently projected to have 12 picks. Summary:
    - 1st (Pats own), #23 overall
    - 3rd (Pats own), #87 overall
    - 3rd (Compensatory for Flowers)
    - 3rd (Compensatory for T. Brown)
    - 4th (from Bears, draft day 2019 trade)
    - 6th (from Broncos for Dawson)
    - 6th (from Texans for Crossen)
    - 6th (Compensatory for M. Brown)
    - 6th (Compensatory for Patterson)
    - 7th (from Falcons for Richards)
    - 7th (from Eagles with Bennett)
    - 7th (from Seahawks for J. Hollister)

    Other notes:
    - Pats sent 2nd to Falcons for Sanu
    - Pats sent 4th to Ravens for Eluemunor and a 6th
    - Pats sent 5th to Eagles for Bennett and a 7th
    - Pats sent 6th to Cardinals for Cunningham
    - Pats sent the Ravens 6th to Bills for Bodine; looks like it had no conditions so Bodine’s release the Friday prior to game 1 has no impact.
    - Pats sent 7th to Broncos as part of Dawson trade
    - Pats trade of a 7th to Falcons for Saubert was conditioned on his making active roster for 4 games; didn’t happen so Pats retained that pick.
    - The Hollister trade had no conditions, so even though he didn’t make Seattle’s initial 53 (he did sign with their practice squad), Pats still keep Seattle’s 7th rounder.

Great Job on this! It’s always hard at times to work out where we are to with picks!

Perfect time to infuse more youth

12, 11, Cannon, Bennett, 54, D Mac, J Mac, and Chung are all on the verge of wrapping it up in 2-3 years

If brown leaves for big money after we win the Super Bowl this year, do we get a third round comp pick 2021?

No — because he will have been in the league for 10 seasons, the max they could receive is a 5th round pick, per Miguel.

Also adding a note that currently the Patriots have 2 extra draft picks in 2021 in addition to all the assigned picks. They received a 6th from the Jets for Thomas, and a 7th that could become a 6th from the Cowboys for Bennett.

Chicago looking weak. That 4th rounded could be pretty early in the round.

I expect bb to trade away most the 6th and 7th rounders on draft day, because let’s face facts, we do not have that many roster openings.

Chicago has about 7 possible games they may lose so the pick could be around 10th, and top 15 even if they win 7 games total. Lions and Giants (both at home) are the only games I'm willing to give them right now.

Edit: Thanks Hammer of Thor for updating the page with all the trades. BB's been a lot busier than usual but it was kind of expected with so many expected picks in the 2020 draft.

Appreciate all who keep track of this

    1st
    3rd
    3rd (Comp)
    3rd (Comp)
    4th (from CHI)
    6th (HOU)
    6th (DEN)
    6th (Comp)
    6th (Comp)
    7th (SEA)
    7th (ATL)
    7th (PHL)

Obviously there will be more movement, but 4 in the top 100ish is real nice, maybe a good year to trade down from 32 for a haul :)

Updated 1/6 to reflect the actual draft slots for rounds 1 and 3 prior to the compensatory picks. Slots beyond that to be determined based on actual compensatory selections, and of course whatever whim Goodell has on the Cincy do your job b-roll film.

How about Brady, Karras, Thuney, Collins, VanNoy, Shelton, McCourty, plus
special teamers Bethel, Slater, and Ebner.

Apologies if I have missed this but how is it decided where compensatory picks for a team are actually fitted into each round. Is there some kind of pre agreed format ?

Yes, there is a “secret formula” that was agreed upon by the NFLPA and the league, but part of the agreement appears to be that the formula would never be told to anyone else including the teams themselves, likely out of NFLPA fears that it would restrict free agency movement - which has kind of happened anyway.

Since the formula has been in existence for 25+ years, people have been able to decode the key parts of it based on past history. Most important aspect is the average annual salary of the lost free agent. See The Basics and Methodology of Projecting the NFL's Compensatory Draft Picks | Over the Cap for more details on it — they are the ones predicting this year’s results and they were virtually spot on last year.

So after trading away the Ravens 6th for a player whom they cut two days later, they essentially traded Eluemunor for a 4th. Brutal. The guy wasn't even good enough to be active on game day. The 6th for Cunningham also looks like a wasted pick. Terrible last week of the preseason for BB the GM.
