I don’t know if this is the right time to bring this up but the Penn State child sex abuse scandal revealing testimony from Mike McQueary about “Schiano witnessing an act by Sandusky and not doing anything about it” ...


Was this all slander and completely debunked later on? If so, that’s terrible a innocent mans name would have to be dragged through the mud like that

I'd love to see a new defense put in and add some unpredictability and aggressiveness. That probably won't happen though. Belichick has absolute control (which obviously for the most part works) and the frustrating bend don't break will likely not change.

Anyone else think the Pats defense actually underachieved? I think they had the personnel to be above average despite not having as much talent in the front seven as they did in the secondary.

I just think one factor is teams know for the most part what to expect from a Belichick defensive game plan and they need something different.

How did they underachieve?
They were #5 in the NFL and #1 from week 5-17.
They did this with a front 7 full
Of cast offs, no names and journeymen.

They should but this defense has a few dead wood to cut/trim off.

Rowe?(Not sure about him. The way the Eagles exposed him, I don't think he can recover.
I guess a QB in this draft and then all D. Need to hit big. The draft penalties have started to take their toll.

Agree If Harrison would like to come back I'd kick the tires.
Rowe has to be given another run.
Other then that get rid of the dead weight.

Matt Patricia isn't the reason for losing. The D was bend but not break.

I looked at the game again tonight and you can clearly see and credit Foles as he played the perfect game. Blount trashed us nicely too. All Pats played ok but they needed Hightower and Butler in good shape in this one. Woods and Edelman would have been the cherry on top.

Brady and all offense was great, rb's not really. They had Blount. Game of the ages shows you need to play perfect at a 95%+ level to beat Pats. On to 2018. Please find 2 cover and run lb's, 1-2 cb's, de, dt, cover safety as 3rd S.

There is no reason to make final cuts now. We need 90 players for camp.

I would strongly disagree with you on Rowe. In any case, as far as Belichick is considered, he is our #2 CB, so he isn't going anywhere. Obviously, we'll add a corner or two to compete with Gilmore, Rowe, Jones, Bademosi and Jones.

Hightower and Gilmore are all the weapons we have on D.

I disagree unless you meant all pros.

They have decent personnel on D.

I'd add a fast LB, an NT and possibly a CB.

Upgrade the LB and NT alone could dramatically change the D.

Find a replacement for MB (sadly) and you have a solid secondary.

Speed at LB would be first on my list. Hightower, KVN plus speedy LB = solid.

Draft a NT and put Brown and Valentine back at DL with AB etc.. as rotational = solid

Here’s the good news, after the Patriots demonstrate a serious weakness in talent during a big loss Belichick tends to overcompensate to address the issue(s). E.g....after the 2006 loss to the Colts in the AFCCG Belichick went out and got Welker, Moss, and Stallworth......

Moss was a rare opportunity, they won’t find a deal like that, but Belichick will still go hard at their areas of weakness imo. His standards are high and they didn’t meet them defensively, so I would expect him to do everything he can to raise them up on that side of the ball.

Schiano would be a marvellous addition.

Yeah that guy is something else. Failure as a head coach but one of the best defensive coordinators in the business for sure.

I have heard several current and former players endorse Flores as a coach.
Schiano has much more experience, but I have not heard the most positive things about him. I am also not sure if players like to play for him.
Do you guys have some insider knowledge that gives you so much confidence?
( I live in Columbus so I guess I should know more about the guy. )
