Kap is still a good backup. I hope the Pats sign him. OK, bring on the wrath.
Sarcasm or serious?
If serious you should keep the bag over your head .
There's a plausible argument to be made that there are teams with primary backup QBs that are not as "good" as Kap and some of these teams have schemes suited for Kap. However, given the Patriots offensive scheme is built around Brady's skillset of pocket-reads-drift-identify high% pass to throw, Kap is not suited. The Patriots need someone that can step in and fill as much as possible Brady's skillset/execute existing playcalling book.
Despite Hoyer's limited success we have actually filled the backup QB position well. Hoyer is suited to come in without the basis of the offense having to drastically change. No, it isn't going to be the second coming of Brady but it will be someone who can take many of the existing plays and execute them with the skillset he posses/has used over his career.
Argue Kap's viability for another team and it's a plausible football argument. Argue Kap as a good fit as Brady's backup and it suggests an argument that isn't about football.
