OT: This Drives Me Nuts

I have to say that when I write something for business, I always use the proper use of "have" and "of", but when I am writing casually like on this board I may use it improperly. I can't remember when or even if I actually used the improper use on this board and I probably would used something like "woulda" over "would of", I do know I use improper English quite frequently on message boards.

Personally, I call it a big victory that I don't write in texting language on this board. My friends and family don't call me "King of All Emojis" for nothing.

Until the last game of this year, the Patriots had been dominant over the Jets. They were able to dominate them over many years.

I use Grammarly. Made me realize how bad I was at some things, which made me change some of how I write. One issue I have is repetitiveness, and I need to get better about that. Have several words I use too frequently, but I guess the first step is at least becoming a little more self-aware.

So between that and @captain stone , I'm pretty well covered on both sides to catch any mistakes whenever I try to write something intelligent on here.

“We” need to do this. “We” need to draft this guy. We do not work for the front office or have ownership rights. “We” do not play football anymore or never have.

i used to hate when someone spelled defense, defence until I found out both are acceptable for the two different types of English language.

As long as I can keep writing ridiculously long run on sentences and ending sentences with a proposition, I am on board with whatever grammatical rules anyone wants me to follow.

Coulda

Woulda

Shoulda
I noticed that my phone will use "gotta" if I say it while I'm dictating a text, even if I said "I've" right before it. Apparently, it doesn't want to help me out and just change it to "got to," leaving me to have to edit it. Considering it autocorrects/changes most other things, I wish that one would get added to the list.

I've started trying to break mine up, but it remains a weakness of mine.

People are hanged.
Clothes are hung.

I've heard that for a long time now but it wasn't always so. If you look at movies from pre-'70s or so "hung" was more often used, both in US and UK films. I think sometime in the '70s people started to get uncomfortable with the double entendre of someone being hung and so started to fuss over the "hanged" alternative.
