OT: State Farm Insurance commercials

Does anybody enjoy commercials?

I'm still lingering on "where's the beef?!?"




(Why this was such a lightning in a bottle moment in the US is beyond me)

During the two games yesterday, there were commercials for State Farm, Progressive and GEICO. Whoever the people are who are working the insurance company accounts for Fox and CBS should be getting nice checks this month. And I hope the 27-year old MBA who came up with Bud Light Seltzer idea should be stuck in front of a monitor and forced to watch those commercials with toothpicks propping his eyelids open.

Yeah, it's insane how many insurance ads there are. Probably the highest category of ads during a football telecast, more than cars, beer and phones (although I'd be interested to see the numbers).

The thing is that insurance is a product nobody wants, we just buy it because we have to (car insurance) or it gives us a sense of security (we have renter's insurance). But when you do have to make a claim they fight tooth and nail against paying it out.

They probably know all that and that's why they have to resort to using geckos to sell their crappy product to us.

Yes, they want people to be that dumb.

Agreed, but the geico raccoons commercial makes me laugh.....try this, it tastes awful....mango, chutney and burnt hair.....

Oh, I dunno - I kind of like this one making the rounds on Facebook today .

PS - I think the "mayhem like me" commercials are the best ones on TV by far - the guy is hilarious. I think most of GEICO's are bad.

"Bud Light Seltzer" is such a stupid marketing idea -- a drink for wannabe imbeciles. But then, Bud Light (a/k/a Fake Water Beer) is a joke to begin with made worse by that horrid series of commercials with the king and his moronic subjects.

The 'mayhem' guy convinces me to change the channel every time I'm forced to see him. I've also had far too much of Flo, her idiot co-worker, the State Farm crew, the Sprint 'can you hear me now?' guy (and HIS annoying co-worker), etc. Not to mention the 500 promos for whatever stupid show follows the game.

Clearly, I just watch too much NFL on TV.

For Pats games, the commercial breaks give me time to peruse the uplifting GameDay Thread out here. For other games, I usually switch between the game and something on another channel - there are so many NFL breaks that I really don't miss much of the alternate show.

The delinquent woodchucks are a winner, though. Reminds me of Heckle and Jeckle, my favorite cartoon characters growing up.
