OT: Saw a post on NFL.com - an old friend is still at the negativity

I recall some oddness where his "wife" was talking about his fragile health. It was always very dramatic butthurtery with NEM. Classic "can dish it but not take it"

I joined after NEM was banned here, but threads like this over the years have painted a not so pleasant picture. It might have been 4 or 5 years ago, but he returned here under a female user name. Several veteran posters quickly noticed some of his trademark phrases and arguments and that ID was banned.

I forget if it was here or at the Planet, but I also remember the story about him going through rough times and needing money. As someone pointed out, he claimed to have lost this and had to sell that and stood to lose more in the near future if he didn't get help, but he was always able to pay for his internet service.

Yeah, I remember NEM. The board was very different in those days, during early-Belichick era. Like most everyone, I don't miss him either. But he was always good to troll the crowd and infuriate the fanbase, which had entertainment value in itself.

My one clear memory of that poster was, during a game against the Colts in 2008, Cassel threw a very catchable ball to a WR (name escapes me right now) who was open heading down the sideline. The pass was flat out dropped. Maverick4 put 100% of the blame on that play on McDaniels. Not the receiver, not the QB, not the receivers coach, but the offensive coordinator. Crazy.

My memory with NEM goes something like this, an arrogant poster who believed he was the smartest kid in the room.. so much so he was finally suspended.

He was so upset he called the owner of this forum at home during supper and complained to him about how unfair this board was..

The rest is history..

NEM was a pain in the ass, no other way to describe him....

Don't forget him posting as "AWOM" for a while also. Just a complete d-bag with remarkably little evident insight into the game in spite of his long history following them, coupled with incessant references to his newsletter, Mike Holovak, slant passes, etc.

I don't actually mind board trolls as much as a lot of folks, but only if they aren't boring like he was, and of course if they aren't so spectacularly obtuse and prone to rages, as again was his M.O.

I remember those days. I used to post mostly on KFFL, which was big, back then but I don't recall what happened and there was a massive exodus from KFFL.
Those were the civil war days. Brady vs Bledsoe. Light vs Klem. There used to be this Jesticles fan whose posts here mostly comprised on how small this forum was and how much more populated the Jets one was (Jets Insider, which now is pretty much dead).

Yep. Although I believe he was still around in 2008. His posts during the 2007 season were about as horrific as it gets.

Yep he hated every OC we've had, and every negative play that's ever happened in the history of football is the fault of the playcaller.

If Welker had taken his 99 yard TD catch to the 1 yard line but got ****y and dropped the ball before the endzone and the Dolphins recovered it, that would have been Bill O'Brien's fault. If not for terrible playcalling, Welker wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place.

I miss NEM and the midweek donnybrooks that would ensue. No matter how many trophy's, "Fire Charlie" was his schtick and I expect these words to be printed on his gravestone one day. Let's get him back for a one week trial run, preferably during a bye week when things get slow. Who doesn't love to rubberneck self made calamities.

I just realized that even though I consider several posters here my friends and you've all been great to me, NEM is the only Patsfans poster that I've ever actually met IRL. I have spoken to some of you folks on the phone and have had many text conversations, etc., but NEM is the only one I've knowingly laid eyes on (and he hugged me too, FYI).

KFFL was a hoot. Opposing team fans would show up every week and spout some garbage about whipping the Pats butts.
They would get mulched on the board and then their team would get mulched on the field.
Most never returned to congratulate.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
We are very lucky fans.

I specifically recall Ribletts (Bbqribs something or other). Obviously a younger person. Would get absolutely abused and kept coming back for more. A Redskins fan I believe.

There was also Aquaforever??? Dolfins fan. Similar false bravado, similar treatment and result.

We don't get much of that here. Maybe a part of it is fans have gotten used to being beaten by the Pats.
No wonder there is so much hate. Just mark it as an L and move on.
