OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

WFT, I maen WTF is the story with All World TE OJ Howard? I remember lusting after that shiny new toy for the Pats. LONG recovery? Lack of recovery? Or what? Less than 25% of the snaps which is disappointing given the need to ease up on real All World Gronk snap count (so we can Release The Kraken in the post season) and Brate's penchant for drops. Word up on what's the story?

He might not be the same again. A big, strong guy blessed with great speed.

Achilles injuries are no joke; they cause career altering problems a more frequenlty than ACL injuries.

As Howard was never a great blocker and his game relied more on speed/quickness, it's fair to wonder how long he'll last if his foot doesn't continue to heal and improve. It has been about a year since the injury, so it's concerning but it's not impossible that there's still more improvement ahead.

Brady still favored but could have put more distance in there…his odds didn’t really go up from last week and he’s still around 30%. Not sure why the hell Allen is still up there. He’s now bordering on below average.

Those ridiculous interceptions are hurting Brady. When you look at the ones Mahomes threw that hot a receiver first, they’re nothing like the ones Brady threw. It’s been fluky all season how he gets ridiculously bad breaks. He’s still number 1 by a lot under PFF’s turnover worthy plays.

I expect someone to emerge from the pack as the clear alternative choice. Might be Mahomes, given the Chiefs easy schedule and all the ball washing he’ll get for throwing it to the wide open guy instead of running backwards.

It's Bradys to lose if he keeps his pace and the Mickey Mouse INT go down

Rodgers may be a football player but he acts like a baseball player. Or should I say the mediots treat him like a baseball player?

Josh Allan being up there is a head scratcher. He hasn't even been top 10 for over a month now.

Brady had been playing better than his stats indicate over the last 3 games but not getting a lot of breaks. His last game vs NYG should have been 350 yards, 3 or 4 TD, and 0 int.

OJ is done as a #1 TE. He had 6 games to show what he's got, and he couldn't even beat out Brate even with Brate having his worst year with the drops. He is a #3TE now and won't ever be better than #2.

In comparison, Gronk looked a little slow but was still able to get open and get 71 yards.

So the lost of speed/quickness isn't the only problem with OJ.

But I thought Tom went to a all star team

No, he went to a team full of all stars and he brought a bunch more with him. The fact the Bucs were a 7-9 team in 2019 was on Winston and Arians.

Yep. 7-9 super team that hadn't made the playoffs in 13 years. Lol
To put in perspective:
QB, Brady > Winston
TE, Gronk > OJ and Brate
WR, AB > Evans and Godwin
RB, playoff Lenny> Ronald Jones
Tackle, drafted Wirfs, best OLineman
Safety, drafted Winfield, best safety

6 new guys improved 6 positions to be the best or one of the best in the league = SB

Licht has been the best GM in football the last few seasons. Getting Brady was the final piece to take his collection of talent and teach them to be champions.

I do agree the Bucs had a collection of talent before Brady

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving before I forget. I won't be online tomorrow as I will be at my sister's house and then my brother-in-laws. Lots of great food and of course football.

I really love this thread as there really is no place like it on the Internet to follow Brady/Bucs. I think it's because as Pats fans we can really dissect his play and how the Bucs are best utilizing his skills while also critiquing the coaching/team.

To have both the Bucs and Pats contending this year has been really special. One team per conference to root for. It doesn't get any better. Lol

How many pro bowl players did this team full of stars produce in 2020? Just curious …I’m guessing it’s a lot, since they were a team full of stars.

Just because a player doesn’t make the pro bowl doesn’t mean they are not all star caliber players. Evans, Godwin, Suh, Vea, Barrett, White, David, and Marpet were excellent players prior to 2020. Why do you think Brady went there in the first place?

You named seven good players who were already on the team. Is this unique? This makes them “a team full of stars”? Did you see the other potential suitors Brady had? You could easily name seven good players from the 49ers, Saints, Chargers, Titans, or Patriots.

The answer is: one pro bowl player in 2020. Jason Pierre-Paul.

The Bucs had one pro bowl player in 2020.
The Bucs had three pro bowl players in 2019.
The Bucs had one pro bowl player in 2018.

The Bucs have not had a first-team all pro since 2005. What a star studded franchise.

And nearly all of those players were on the 2019 team that went 7-9 the season before Brady got there. Some "all star team"...
