I am over on the Saints board periodically. They have a really great board by the way. Lots of good football talk. But what Brady is doing with the records is killing them as the records were Brees' main stay to greatness and being ahead of the likes of Rodgers, Favre, Manning in their opinion. Being #2 really kind of nullifies that. LOL

That’s what I’ve been arguing for years about top 10 lists and legacies.

Statistical feats have no staying power. Number of games, passing attempts, passer rating passing yards, all go up to a new level and never come back down.

The efficiency/passer rating leaders are no exception. Aaron Rodgers is getting passed by Mahomes and Watson, so claims about his efficiency quickly become weak.

When Steve Young retired, he was considered to be the greatest or the co-GOAT because he was the high water mark. Then came Rodgers. Now comes Mahomes. But the big story is that these guys free fall from #1/2 to borderline top 10 and then even lower.

Same with big counting stats. Tarkenton, then Fouts, then Marino, then Favre, then Manning, then Brees. Each of these guys had, at the least, a “one of the greatest ever” moniker until getting surpassed.

I’ve lurked over there for years and they can’t stand Brady. I wonder if it hurts them even more knowing they probably win the Super Bowl last year with him if Brees hadn’t been so concerned about records he’s going to lose anyway.

Over the next couple of seasons we’re about to see a huge gap between Brady and #2 on the regular season leaderboards. I’m hoping he plays at least 3 more seasons with this 17 game schedule to pad it.

His win records and playoff records are pretty much Gretzky and MLB 19th century/early 20th century pitching records at this point.

Since Brady won the SB with Tampa, many over there have changed their tune about him and consider him the undisputed GOAT. This is true on many rival boards as well, Colts.com too. That win by Brady did the most to his personal legacy as it separated him from the Pats/Bill which was really the last hurdle he had to clear in the minds of some.

The greatest of the greats are always judged by hardware. I know the argument is "but, but it's a team game." Does not matter. Transcendent all time greats are always judged by their ability to elevate their own game as well as the games of the their teammates to championships. And really chips are timeless as no matter what era you play in - the rules are the same for everyone to win the chip. Stats can and will forever be debated due to era, rules, state of the game, etc.

Bruce Arians calls out Bucs receivers for dropped passes

At one point last season, Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians disputed that his players were dropping too many passes.

“They dropped it,” Arian said. “Catch it. ****, [there] ain’t no excuse. They’re perfectly thrown balls — you catch the damn thing.”

Arians later was asked if the drops are concerning for him.

“If it’s Mike [Evans] or Chris [Godwin] or Gronk, no,” Arians said. “But if it’s young players, yes. Maybe the lights are too big. We’ll go back and evaluate it but way too many drops.”

Arians is also in midseason form when it comes to calling out quarterback Tom Brady. Coach, how did Brady look in the live practice period against the Titans on Wednesday?

“I didn’t think he was very sharp,” Arians said. “Our third-down percentage I think was really poor in that one. We took some shots downfield on first down [and] guys were open. He made some really good throws that were dropped, too. We’ll grade the tape, but I didn’t come off the field saying he wowed everybody.”

So he goes to a 7-9 Tampa Bay team and immediately throws for over 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in the regular season on the way to winning another title at age 43 while the Pats instantly crater from 12-4 to 7-9.

And after years of Belichick blowing off any input on personnel from Brady, every person that Brady recruited to the Bucs scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl. I mean you can't make this up.

It is amazing. You could not write a movie script any better for Brady. You forgot that he also did it in a Covid year where there was no off-season and he had a torn MCL to boot. LOL.

I can honestly say I haven't watched that stuff in like 10+ years or so. I couldn't even tell who's on or what's on those channels. Just use them for games and most of the time I mute the announcers believe it or not. Almost always for football.

Not surprised. Vrabel coaches his team like that to be tough/competitive. It's good for the Bucs too, to get challenged and show up physically. Nice haymaker by Brown. LOL

Vrabel said “those things come up” during practices and that “our job is to perform football plays” regardless of what else is going on. He didn’t think his team did their job well this time around.


“It sucked,” Vrabel said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN.com. “From what I saw, we didn’t do very well offensively. I don’t think we competed like we did yesterday. Probably a lot of reasons. But just not good enough. Clearly they were better today. We’ll see how we respond and take to coaching and play on Saturday.”

Imagine suspending your own players for something like this? Yet one coach benched his all-pro wide receiver for a series - in a playoff game - over a press conference joke then was heard on national television apologizing for his Hall of Fame tight end’s one major infraction and calling it “********” to the other coach.

Oh, and that same coach was supported by every player and member of the organization when he was under attack.
