OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Bad for the Chiefs, great for NFL fans. There should be great matchups for years between Mahomes and Herbert.

Lamar…lol.

Allen still seems suspect to me, and I don’t know why. But I’ll give him credit as he’s been able to sustain this into 2021. Maybe he’s just going to have a good career after all.

Mayfield isn’t even a solid starter…so much overhype for doing so little with a talented offense. If the Browns had a real QB, they’d be real contenders. He’s that classic nightmare scenario where you pay him like an elite QB and build your team around him, and at best he won’t drag them down.
Mayfield is a nightmare scenario because he's good enough to obviously be a starting QB. But not good enough to win games in the clutch. Honestly the Browns are an elite QB away from being a SB contender.

I don't care if Lamar goes 15-2 this year with another MVP. Teams will shutdown what he does best in the postseason. He's just unable to consistently make big plays with his arm. And I see no way they win a SB with him. He would need to totally change his game for at least 3 weeks.

Sure. He will look great against the Bengals in September. But how will he look against the Bills or Chargers defense?

I don't know about Allen. I'm on the fence with him. Need to see more.

But yeah Mahomes vs Herbert will be great for years to come. Right now the Chiefs have the experience and coach. But that could change eventually.

The Chiefs' biggest problem isn't anything from other teams. The Chiefs' biggest problem is that Kelce is 32 years old.
He doesn't miss time and his play has yet to decline. 32 is pretty young in a league where a 44 year old QB is playing.

He may play longer too because he's not asked to block.
True.

I certainly don't want to think about how much our offense will be impacted once he's retired.

True.

But Kelce has shown no signs of decline. And he's been durable.

I can see him being great till he's 36 or so.
There's nothing out there to support that, beyond Gonzalez. Gates started downhill at age 34, and he's probably the second best argument for longevity at the position in recent years.

I am worried about Herbert.

My God what a mistake the Dolphins made picking Tua over him.

Herbert is going to be a top 5 QB for the next 15 years.

He's better than Lamar. Way better.

BAllen.

Mayfield isn't even in the same stratosphere as him.

Other than Mahomes, there's not a QB that can do the things Herbert does.

Josh Allen? Relax

With respect to TB, they haven't played a complete game this year. SB hangover? Just a short term issue? Long term?

Brady won the SB in year one during a pandemic. With a new coach and unique circumstances. Might be the first time in a long time that he's playing with house money. Zero pressure.

And yes...I know my Chiefs also haven't played a great team game this year either.

You could argue they didn't play a complete game last year until the SB. Not sure it means much as long as your winning.

Their main issues are penalties and injuries...they can control penalties and should improve in that part but injuries are the ultimate season wrecker

And the penalties would be much less of an issue if the officials hadn't completely sucked in a couple of these early games.

Eye test says he's better than Allen.

I'm not sure there's much debate.

Allen is good. Herbert is better.

Allen was the mvp last year (I don’t care who the media gave it to)

Allen was good to start and end the season. He wasn't as consistent in between.

The MVP always goes to the guy with the most TD passes anyways.

Disagree, but I respect your opinion.

The MVP last year was clearly, definitively Patrick Mahomes.

It’s nothing against Allen. Mahomes was just better. He was money is every game in crunch time and led that team, with a questionable defense, to a 14-1 record.

Adjusted Net Yards/Attempt (includes sacks, rushes, TDs, INTs)
Mahomes - 8.83
Allen - 7.82

Huge difference…in fact, different classes.

As for Rodgers…as always he played ****ty in the bigger games and padded the crap out of his stats. That’s just his nature. Want to guess who had both the #1 ranked offensive line and the #1 offense for yards of separation/catch? You betcha…Mr. I Do It Alone, Just Ask Me.

Packers had a cake schedule versus Chiefs brutal schedule. Rodgers had the better defense. Mahomes was the better QB. However, he played to win games whereas Rodgers spent the season doing everything he could to win an individual award.

Rams dropping a game tonight against the Seahawks to fall to 3-2 would be extremely helpful for the Bucs.
Yeah. My thinking too.
What do you think if the Cards? Are they legit?
