OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Gonna probably watch more Tom than Cam this season. Week 1, Tom is on local TV but Cam is not. Probably not headed to the sports bar with all the COVID breathing mfers...
NFL RedZone should be available with your cable/satellite provider and it's a good substitute for when you can't watch the Pats.

Even with Evans out he still has better targets to throw to than the garbage Bill put around him the last two seasons

I hope Arians isn’t a stubborn idiot and uses some 2 TE and even 3 TE packages with TEs running routes instead of just being blockers and decoys. Gronk, Howard, and Brate is a badass trio. Arians strikes me as someone who is really stubborn and will stick to his Xs and Os instead of using the strengths of the players. Hope I’m wrong and/or Leftwich and Brady will have some influence too.

I don't think they signed Gronk just to block.

Hope not. Arians not using TEs as dual threats in the past is a real thing; he has faced heavy criticism for only using them as blockers. My guess is that changes this season.

I think anyone equating the 2007 pats with the 2020 bucs is misinformed. While both teams have dominant offenses on paper, the 2007 defense was much better than the bucs defense (who I think will also be good).

Was it? It's hard to say how good the 2007 defense was imo. The offense made their job so much easier. They also did give up 35 to the Giants, 21 to the Dolphins and 28 to the Eagles.

My love for football is such that I watch every game available no matter what. Bengals/Jags? Yup, I'm watching. As a Patriot die-hard since the mid-70's, I have never really rooted another team in a vacuum. In neutral games, I rooted for the outcome that most helped the Patriots. If it didn't apply, I simply root for whomever i dislike less. It's different this year. This is the first year I will ever follow another team too. And I am pumped that the Patriots and Bucs have very few games at the same time!

I will not join a Bucs board, I will not buy any Buc merchandise. After what Brady has given us as fans for the last 20 years, I do not understand how anyone can have such a hair across their arse about him. If by some miracle they play in the SB, sorry Brady, rooting against you. Short of that, I am rooting for the Bucs this year too. Never had a pink hat, so eat my taint with that hardo accusation.

The only close comparison I can think of won't resonate with most here. When Bobby Orr went to the Blackhawks at the end of his career, most Bruins fans I knew wanted him to do well and were going to continue following him. His knee was so f'd that he hardly played again. But if the Bruins weren't going to the Cup in 78, let it be Chicago.

Excited to plan my Sundays around 2 teams each weekend.
Just here to say that I love the utilisation of « hardo accusation ». It made me LOL. That is all. I have no thoughts +/- about this thread.

I don't blame the team one bit for being excited, but they sure are creating alot of hype for themselves. Lets see how the players respond. I'm glad the NFL is back!

Those passing records are incredibly important to Brees, so it will be fun to watch Brady surpass him and hopefully outlast him.. I could see Brees hanging on for a few more very average years just to protect his records

I think they matter more to him than they did to Peyton Manning

The type of selfishness of Brees / Manning is the very reason they have so few SB titles despite the adulation of « experts ».

Does anyone here believe either of those guys would have won in a season like 2018 ? Brady was willing to see that a championship depended on a rising defensive group and emerging running attack. Guy like Brees ? Would’ve changed calls and thrown picks.

Will always respect Brady for putting winning first.

I remember reading back in March/April from a few Saints reporters that Brees would have already retired if Brady had. That tells you everything

January 20th, 2019 sums up their careers pretty well

100%.

Winner vs Loser.

Having said that, I am not as hopeful as others on this board re Tampa’s prospects. A 43 year old Brady - imo - could win, but will struggle trying to drag the outfit to success.

I guess that’s what sports are about : let’s see what happens next.

I agree completely.
