OT: Jets going after Jason Taylor HARD

How hard can they really go after him with no flexibility to sign him with the final four rule? "Jason we want you here. Name your price.... But ummmm..... It can't be anything over about $1.5 million this year because that's all we can spend. But we can guarantee you get paid in crisp new bills."

Seriously, what a misleading story. They will have to sell the guy on that being the best place to win a championship because he can get more money elsewhere. I don't know if Taylor would want to win a championship as a Jet. He hates the Jets. He hates the Pats, but not as much and is friends with Brady and respects Belichick. I don't know if you can say as much about anyone on the Jets.

I think the Pats will not pursue him again despite the need,it was a slap in Belichick's face when he went back to Miami last season.
It was a decision, and not done with any animosity, and will have no bearing on BBs decision to pursue Taylor or not.

Kindle has played with his hand off the ground on occasion, but it's unlikely any rookie will be an immediate impact at 3-4 OLB. It takes time to transition.

Rather have Weatherspoon at #22. Anyone but that Ordick guy. Watch the LSU game. Awful! A higher drafted Mike Wright and Wright is better.
I think BB is leaning toward Saap IMO but I don't know if he is the answer.

Another interesting development, they say Griffen could play OLB? Hmmm!

At the end of the day 25 year old Ray Edwards at RFA #22 makes the most sense over Taylor.

He only has a few playing years left and maybe he will switch his motivations for winning instead of money.
Instead of money? Taylor voluntarily left the Skins and an $8 mil salary to get about a mil or so with the doofins. Whatever Taylor is about, it ISN'T about money.

If the Jets are going to convince Taylor to sign then it won't be by throwing money at him due to the final four rule. In addition Taylor has signed for less to play for the Dolphins in order to be close to his family, and New York is not all that close to Miami.

Ryan could try to use his charisma and convince him playing in the Jets defense will be a lot of fun, but I can't see that getting Taylor to sign. The one angle that might work would be to appeal to Taylor regarding his next career once he retires. Two years ago Taylor said he wanted to be remembered as an actor more than an athlete. Since the NFL does not have a team in Los Angeles, the best location to make that segue is New York.

John Clayton says pats are interested in him again.

Are you trying to say that joining the Patriots would give Jason a much better chance of winning than joining the Jets who may or may not be turning the corner?

I would think its extremely close as to which team will be more on the winning side this season,I don't really see any major moves here except for the draft picks and maybe a low profiled FA...of course in here I would not expect a fair opinion.

Yeah, I am. The JETS have been turning corners a lot in the last decade...all they ever do is move in circles.

I don't think it's close at all. I think gimpy the Sanchise will take the predictable step back given all the film their foray into the playoffs provided eager DC's. They say if you aren't getting better you're getting worse. We have 4 picks in the top 53. They have 29 and 61 and then they're out of luck until 124 and 155... In a deep draft with first round graded players through the mid second round and second round graded players through the third. They've lost ground in the running game replacing a 1400 yard back with the ghost of Ldt. Washington is holding out off his broken leg for a long term deal. They replaced frick with frack in the secondary and traded their most talented safety for a day two pick. They are returning the same WR corps they featured most of last season. Braylon signed his tender because he knew it was as much as he's worth... They can't sign FA's who aren't already getting closer to being in the AARP than the NFLPA. Their owner is more concerned with selling PSL's and creating perception and landing telivision gigs than he is with building a well founded champion. Their own rookie HC publicly wrote them off due to his own glaring managerial deficiencies back in week 15. And they would have finished the season at 7-9 or 8-8 if not for opponents laying down.

I think the way our season ended was a kick in the ass of a justifiably proud franchise and will be dealt with accordingly by players as well as coaches and the FO. I think the way the JETS season ended fueled a misperception. The JETS are who I think they are. Been that way for decades now. But it also doesn't surprise me that many here these days still don't get that...

I rarely quote entire posts but reading that about the NYJs is...well, it's like pure football porn. Can't get enough of it.

Kindle?? NO WAY.. Kindle is a 4-3 DE. Not a 3-4 OLB.. Not to mention that he is over-rated because of the defensive talent that was around him.

Not sure where you are figuring this out. Kindle played OLB and DE at Texas.

I havent read the whole thread but Taylor is interested in coming here still and apparently the Patriots are still in contact with him and his agent for a chance to come here.

Remember Taylor likes Belichick a ton and vice versa.

Didn't they say similar stuff about Orakpo? He turned out pretty well. I'm not saying the team should draft Kindle but I think he's worth a serious look.

This would be a good pickup by the Pats IMO. He's definitely not the player he once was, but with his snaps kept in check, he could definitely be effective. Why not take him on a 1 year deal?

He'd be a great addition in the locker room, BB has always loved him, he's still got some game left, and I think he's hungry to get a title before his career is over.

Who better to help mentor Crable and the other OLB draftee(s)? Taylor has been an amazing player and person, and although he's not the same player he once was, having him on this team would be another step in the right direction.

Since the thread is already hijacked, what's the point of having a million draft picks if your GM can't draft to save his life. The Patriots have made some draft decisions the last 3 or 4 years that, at the time, seemed like the right move and it's okay if this happens once every four years but lately the trend has become a bit disturbing. Go ahead, mention Vernon Gholston. Leave out, Revis, Harris, Washington, Sanchez, Keller, Brick, Mangold, Smith, Greene... I can keep going. All are staples in the franchise.

Jones was servicable and reliable, nothing more nothing less. His lockerroom presence was important, I believe that, but he was and never will be a show stopper, a game changer. He was never the focal point of Sunday night highlight reels. He is nowhere near the calibre of a future HOFer like Tomlinson. While I believe the Jets should have traded Jones, I'll take a 50-75% Tomlinson over a 100% TJ any day of the week. It's okay that Patriots fans love to hate LT. I'm sure most of the Pats fans would accept the decision of the franchise taking him over Maroney.

Leon Washington was always a change-up, third down back. This won't change, and this is why he has been so successful. Most feel he won't be as productive being a feature back. Sproles says hi by the way, his YPC was down from 5.4 in 2008 to 3.7 in 2009.

Braylon Edwards has a bad reputation. He only dropped 4 passes for the Jets last year. Granted, they were huge drops that could have been TD's but not as bad as people think. Terrel Owens, Randy Moss and Ted Ginn Jr. say hi. What's that you say? Those three had more drops than BE?

Get your facts right. Woody and Tannenbaum declined HBO's request to put the Jets on the show last year. HBO was very persistant this year and the Jets GM did his due dilligence to find out if the cameras were a distraction with the previous teams. Otherwise, no go.

I believe we should all see how it pans out next year until we mock the Jets' decisions because skepticism is just the doubt about the truth of something, for example, "The last playoff game the Patriots had is a prelude of things to come", "Tom Brady will never win another Superbowl". I personally believe he has one more left in him just like most of you guys do, but that's the beauty of skepticism. It's very easy to skew things in either direction as you pointed out and as I just pointed out. Either way, in my opinion, to deny the Jets have been getting better in all phases of the game the last 2/3 years is just utter ignorance.

I mean no disrespect to any of you guys or the mods here and I enjoy lurking the site. I'm not trying to be a homer or a troll, I just wanted to clarify my stance on the quoted post. Thank you.

Just read on a website it is believed that jason taylor is using the jets as leverage against the Pats and Phins.

Taylor sincerely does not want to play for the Jets.
