Yeah, I am. The JETS have been turning corners a lot in the last decade...all they ever do is move in circles.
I don't think it's close at all. I think gimpy the Sanchise will take the predictable step back given all the film their foray into the playoffs provided eager DC's. They say if you aren't getting better you're getting worse. We have 4 picks in the top 53. They have 29 and 61 and then they're out of luck until 124 and 155... In a deep draft with first round graded players through the mid second round and second round graded players through the third. They've lost ground in the running game replacing a 1400 yard back with the ghost of Ldt. Washington is holding out off his broken leg for a long term deal. They replaced frick with frack in the secondary and traded their most talented safety for a day two pick. They are returning the same WR corps they featured most of last season. Braylon signed his tender because he knew it was as much as he's worth... They can't sign FA's who aren't already getting closer to being in the AARP than the NFLPA. Their owner is more concerned with selling PSL's and creating perception and landing telivision gigs than he is with building a well founded champion. Their own rookie HC publicly wrote them off due to his own glaring managerial deficiencies back in week 15. And they would have finished the season at 7-9 or 8-8 if not for opponents laying down.
I think the way our season ended was a kick in the ass of a justifiably proud franchise and will be dealt with accordingly by players as well as coaches and the FO. I think the way the JETS season ended fueled a misperception. The JETS are who I think they are. Been that way for decades now. But it also doesn't surprise me that many here these days still don't get that...
Since the thread is already hijacked, what's the point of having a million draft picks if your GM can't draft to save his life. The Patriots have made some draft decisions the last 3 or 4 years that, at the time, seemed like the right move and it's okay if this happens once every four years but lately the trend has become a bit disturbing. Go ahead, mention Vernon Gholston. Leave out, Revis, Harris, Washington, Sanchez, Keller, Brick, Mangold, Smith, Greene... I can keep going. All are staples in the franchise.
Jones was servicable and reliable, nothing more nothing less. His lockerroom presence was important, I believe that, but he was and never will be a show stopper, a game changer. He was never the focal point of Sunday night highlight reels. He is nowhere near the calibre of a future HOFer like Tomlinson. While I believe the Jets should have traded Jones, I'll take a 50-75% Tomlinson over a 100% TJ any day of the week. It's okay that Patriots fans love to hate LT. I'm sure most of the Pats fans would accept the decision of the franchise taking him over Maroney.
Leon Washington was always a change-up, third down back. This won't change, and this is why he has been so successful. Most feel he won't be as productive being a feature back. Sproles says hi by the way, his YPC was down from 5.4 in 2008 to 3.7 in 2009.
Braylon Edwards has a bad reputation. He only dropped 4 passes for the Jets last year. Granted, they were huge drops that could have been TD's but not as bad as people think.
Terrel Owens, Randy Moss and Ted Ginn Jr. say hi. What's that you say? Those three had more drops than BE?
Get your facts right. Woody and Tannenbaum declined HBO's request to put the Jets on the show last year. HBO was very persistant this year and the Jets GM did his due dilligence to find out if the cameras were a distraction with the previous teams. Otherwise, no go.
I believe we should all see how it pans out next year until we mock the Jets' decisions because skepticism is just the doubt about the truth of something, for example, "The last playoff game the Patriots had is a prelude of things to come", "Tom Brady will never win another Superbowl". I personally believe he has one more left in him just like most of you guys do, but that's the beauty of skepticism. It's very easy to skew things in either direction as you pointed out and as I just pointed out. Either way, in my opinion, to deny the Jets have been getting better in all phases of the game the last 2/3 years is just utter ignorance.
I mean no disrespect to any of you guys or the mods here and I enjoy lurking the site. I'm not trying to be a homer or a troll, I just wanted to clarify my stance on the quoted post. Thank you.
