Not such big news of course, but on Tuesday I was on my way home from our Thanksgiving trip and changed planes in Cleveland. While walking through the tunnel from terminal C to terminal D, Willie McGinest passed me walking the other way!

He was all by himself, no other players or team personal were around. I was wearing my SB36 hat, and waved and pointed to the hat. He gave me a wink and kept walking. Does anyone know if he is injured, or why he might have been traveling without the team?

Willie is one of the former Pats who I still like. Others (such as kickers who shall remain nameless) are dead to me.

When I lived in Walpole, I saw him working out one weekday afternoon in the World Gym. He was with another guy and there were no other patrons besides the three of us. I said nothing to him. I saw Chris Slade there a few times. Todd Collins too. It wasn't out of the ordinary to see a player once in a while as Tippett had his martial arts school there. At that time, the facilities were probably better than Foxboro Stadium.

If you do much flying, you can spot celebs every now and again. My list? Randy Cross, Ditka (jerk - he was hassling the security in his leather "All-Madden" bomber jacket), Ken Norton, Jr., Bill Walton. That's most of 'em, but I mostly follow sports. I'm sure there are others from other walks of life that I've passed right by.

I saw Wille playing a couple of weeks ago, not sure if he has gotten injured since.

I once saw Kid Rock in Newark airport. interesting time......
In my past life, before I retired this spring, I drove truck, (29 yrs) My usual run was from Vt/ Ct to Cleveland, 2 times a week....
I fueled every time right outside of Orchard Park, NY (Bill's Stadium)
I ALWAYS had on Pats garb...
I Received my share of sh*t for it from Albany thru Erie to Cleveland, but stayed firm
When Romeo & Willie went to Cleveland, with a 2" wide Marker, I wrote, "Good Luck Romeo" "miss U 55" on the trailer door top to bottom....
every day someone would add comments to the door... "He'll need it" Take him Back with ya"
One day in traffic, a SUV honked at me and by the time I could see, it was Willie Mac! I was so happy!!
was fun to get crap from other drivers. then show them my truck... Pat's Fat Head on the side.....NH plates, everything Patriots...chick driving...
Not just the driver, dude... I own the company!
Mostly just good nature junk back and forth, unless it was a Jest fan.... YUK

(besides hanging with the Ramones one time)
my brush with fame was sitting next to Dewey Evans up in first class one business trip to somewhere in the midwest. he was looking to sign on with another team, at the end of his Red Sox career. nice guy.

on the flight back, i saw Hank Stramm in the airport, went up and said "is that a super bowl ring on your hand?", winked and kinda kept moving. he laughed.

I saw Kevin Faulk at Logan Airport last year. He came off the plane and then I saw him at the baggage corral. My six year old son was wearing his Pats hat and asked him for an autograph, which he gave. On the ride home I was wondering why he was in Massachusetts as it was only a couple weeks after the Super Bowl.

Then next day in the paper it was reported he had been arrested at the Lil Wayne concert.

I was seated once next to Jimmy Osmond at a Las Vegas restaurant back in the 70s

I know, big deal  :bricks:

Do you work for the DEA?

I believe Willie goes back to LA regularly, if he left Sunday night he'd be coming back on Tuesday for Wednesday practice. My best guess.

I met Val Venis once at Chicago O'hare. He's not really a porn star in real life.

That's a great story. I love Willie. Wish he never left.

Going on the way back machine .. I run into Drew at logan, and got his autograph .. He was waiting for his wife, he told me this was her first time in Boston .. Rookie year ..

I bumped into Matt Cassel at a bar two years ago in the summer, I was the only one among my co-workers who recognized who he was. At the time nobody knew who the backup QB was except fanatics like myself. I was kind of like, 'hey Matt Cassel! gluck on the upcoming season' He thanked then went back to being surrounded by multiple hot young blond women all over him; it wasn't until this year I learned he's been married since college.

Maybe I'm just egotistical, but I always think of these encounters as the day the celebrity met ME.

Funny you should say your were the only one who recognized Cassel. I was the only one who recognized Faulk. He was standing at the baggage corral, in the the midst of about 200 people and everybody else was oblivious as to who he was.

Same here, I was the only one who recognized Val Venis. Then again he wasn't walking through the airport with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist.

This is not Patriots related, but last year my girlfriend met Larry David (or an exact lookalike) in a coffee shop in Amherst, MA. She said, "You know, you look a lot like Larry David." and he says, "Hm, I've never gotten that before," acting surprised, but smiling.

I suppose we'll never know for sure if it was him, but it seemed like something he might do.

I hung out with Salman Rushdie all day long 2 years ago. He's a nice guy, had a very hot girlfriend at the time (Lakshmi Singh) but I think she dumped him recently. I bet he's feeling down.

Who is Val Venis?
