BB has the perfect job now. He can coach like he wants and his players will listen. There are no egos yet to bruise of butts hurt by coaching them. He can coach, screw and have little to no interference from billionaires who think they need to be the boss. No budget restraints, just football!

Interesting... remember there is s buy out if he takes an NFL job..
I'm judging this on 2 things: 1 the fact that rumors were swirling early last week and he made it a point to wear UNC blue on his TV show. 2 I assume he did his due diligence on wether he wanted one of these jobs and if there would be mutual interest in him and I assume he used this info before deciding on UNC. And even if something unforseen arose like Brady I still think it would take a lot to get him to break his commitment. Maybe that is enough but I don't think so.

It depends. If his agreement with UNC explicitly included him saying it is subject to whether the right NFL job comes along then he may leave. But if he did not stipulate that clearly, he won’t leave.
Correct and Bill is just as opportunistic as every other coach but leaving UNC after accepting the job just a few weeks ago would be...unsavory.

Agreed, but if he stipulated it in the agreement, which we have no way of knowing, it wouldn’t be wrong.

I can see 2 sides of the buyout in this regard. On the one hand it could be set up that way because BB was upfront that it’s a real possibility so it’s in there to compensate UNC for time lost. In the other it could be there because BB was committed fully so he didn’t care about the buyout. (Referring to a 10 mill buy out changing to 1 mill in June which clearly is related to a 2025 nfl job offer scenario)

We don’t know if his agreement included the stipulation that it the right NFL job comes along he intends to take it. Then he wouldn’t be breaking his commitment. Ic not, he won’t break it no matter what.

Valid points. I think the interesting part is what bills wanted wasn't available to him when he was looking to go to another place. The GM/HC opportunity is now readily available and I believe brady is behind it. This is going to be very interesting.. going forward.

Yep! Clearly both sides are aware that circumstances can change.

I think this possibility- while remote- is why Freddie Kitchens was retained by Bill (quite possibly at the request of Bubba Cunningham).

Right. Clearly the possibility came up. We dint know if BB said, I’m here no matter what or, yes I intend to leave if an NFL job is offered and our agreement is subject to that.
Just saying it could be either way

@Ian - how hard would it be to implement a thread (versus post) reaction?
There was Noway I could have become a Tampa fan when Brady went there, didn’t sit right with me. Was too NBA like…But this … this I could get on board with. Secretly we all a little Raider fans underneath all this nice nice New England exterior .. we all got a little bad ass Black n Grey, Harley riding, whiskey drinking, women chasing west coast bad boy attitude. Chris Berman voice screaming in my head …. Rrraaaiiiiddders !!! Haha!!

I read somewhere that Belichick has an out with UNC until some time in June.
Really ?? You got a source ?? That’s pretty big right there , gonna hold off on getting UNC gear before that then.

Ya but he’s dealing with children and their helicopter parents. At least Bill would be more accustomed to Prima Donna pro players ? I’m sure he’s dealing with parents as we speak , maybe he’s rethinking his plight ?

Has to pay UNC $10,000,000 to buy out of his contract. That drops to $1,000,000 in June.

9 big ones is huge to someone like me , but to Bill? Wonder what he’s thinking .. not like he’s ever gonna retire and dip into his savings like regular people. Cost of doing business ?

I think one of 2 things happened.

1) Belichick told UNC when he took the job that if an NFL HC job comes along this off season he will take it and to compensate UNC for their trouble if that happens they agreed on a buyout.
2) UNC was afraid the above could happen, belichick said he was all in, and offered the buyout to show it.

Belichick isn’t going to leave UNC hanging. He will just wait a couple of years and take the job when they fire their next head coach.

I think Belichick is going to love teaching college kids what he knows about football, which is everything.

I never dreamed I would buy a UNC hat, but I’m going to do just that. I would love to see him win a national championship.

Not sure how old you are, not my business. That generation and the one after that is not the one Bill coached in ‘85. Add in the NIL and the portal? I have my doubts. I think he lost the locker room with pro athletes, how’s he gonna handle teens and their parents ?

We gonna have to wait and see I guess .. been a Dame fan since ‘83…
