OT - Goats reunite?

That in a nutshell is the true overriding issue with the current state of this franchise.

I have nothing against Robyn Glaser, but she - and Jonathan - need to stay in their lane.

In other words, they need to stay strictly 100% on the business side of this enterprise.

Right now their sole task should be to hire a President of Football Operations who has the final say on anything and everything football related.

That new person should then be in charge of hiring a GM and HC. That triumvirate needs to be far and away from the process of hiring a HC, but of course they have the priorities reversed.
First question during the HC interview......

"Will you agree to an imbedded Kraft Group attorney in your office?"

How does coaching the Raiders stick it to Kraft? When Kraft fired him, it isn't like he didn't consider the possibility he would eventually coach someplace else in the NFL.

Seems to me he'd be sticking it to UNC a lot more than to the guy who fired him.

From NESN:

“I feel like our record the last three to four years wasn't what I wanted — and I had given him so much power,” Kraft said last week on “The Breakfast Club.” “He had full control over everything. Shame on me. I should have had some checks and balances better. But he had earned that right."

Add the rumors of Tuggy putting in a bad word with Arthur Blank etc.

Tuggy could have put this much more tactfully, bitten his tongue and taken the high road. Seems to me there's at least some correlation between "so much power" and 6 titles. I'd love to see (thought not counting on it) BB come back and put Tuggy on the receiving end of one last taste of "so much power".

I don't see the Raiders ponying up.

Are they still paying Josh? How about Gruden???
And Antonio Pierce now. I think they just got off the books for Bisaccia last year.

They were too cheap to sell a stake? That doesn’t make sense

A) Brady is tossing Bill's name out there to do his old coach a solid, putting him in the minds of franchises with openings who weren't necessarily considering him.
B) It's a ploy to let Vrabel know they're willing to pivot quickly and close the door if he takes too long dancing the Bears/Pats/Johnson waltz.
C) All of the above.
D) The interest is genuine but also all of the above.

Because it was implied for years that Brady was taking less to play for them and would be repaid by becoming a part owner. And because Bob Kraft probably doesn’t want to part with any of his ownership.
As long as Brady paid fair market value for his stake, I do not see the problem

I do agree that Kraft probably dod not want to sell or share limelight or decision making.

Kraft's dissatisfaction with BB seems to have started with how he made it so Brady wanted to leave. Kraft put out that puff piece on Apple TV to try and make himself look like a hero for making it so the two of them could coexist.

If BB and Brady willingly linked back up on another team that makes Kraft's overdramatization of his role look even sillier in the eyes of most people than it already does.

They are still paying Gruden until 2028.
They are still paying Josh until 2028.
They are still paying Pierce until 2027 (assumed).

Having to pay Bill's buyout and then a contract on top of that would be... rough. Maybe Tom can pick up the tab out of his FTX money. Oh...

That is so insane. What a disaster.
How much do that Pats have to pay Mayo?

It's not known but generally first time coaches get around a 3 year contract for around $3-4M per year. I am gonna guess Kraft gave Mayo a longer deal than that though because, of course he did.

Last year was a pain point for Kraft because he still owed Belichick his final year at around $25M for one year. If he DIDN'T make Mayo the coach, he would've needed to pay Mayo a $10M buyout, and then whoever he hired at HC instead (i.e. Vrabel) would've needed a contract as well - so Kraft would have been facing something like $45M in Head Coach salaries just in 2024. Instead he did hire Mayo, making his total 2024 salary cost about $29M.

Since he did hire Mayo and is now firing him a year later, he only owes Mayo his annual salary (assumed $4M) and Belichick is off the books. So even if Vrabel is owed $10M, the 2025 HC salaries come down to $14M or so. Not nearly as steep.

I read somewhere that Belichick has an out with UNC until some time in June.

He currently has a $10 million dollar buyout. In June, that buyout becomes $1 million.

$1 million is chump change. Arguably $10 million is chump change too so really Belichick could leave UNC anytime he wanted to.

So I’m just supposed to believe that the Raiders are among multiple teams who have reached out to Bill about their head coaching vacancy or potential vacancy? Tommy P. is legit, but he is clearly fabricating the story, because I have been assured by multiple posters here that NFL teams want nothing to do with Bill and that the game has passed him by and that he would never have another opportunity to be a head coach in the NFL.
And that Tom Brady hates him

Brady's networth is early $300-500 mil
Mike Davis is worth around $2.6 billion
Raiders are valuated around $7.8 billion

They could pay out the $10 million every year for 260 years just off of Brady/Davis networth alone before running out.

Now, to your point, that doesn't mean **** as they're probably cheap as hell. But just some food for thought lol.

If the Raiders are valued at 7.8 billion, how much of Davis net worth is tied up in sports teams (he also owns women's basketball team)?

I had read that one reason people were surprised the Raiders fired Josh was because unlike other owners, the Raiders were Davis main source of income, so money spent came directly out of his pocket.

@Ian - how hard would it be to implement a thread (versus post) reaction?
Not saying it's impossible, but I think that would be tough, since it opens up the Reddit format, and that's something I feel like most people don't want. I still think it would be cool to do something to highlight quality threads, but haven't come up with a good solution there yet.
