OT: ESPN: Jets interested in Terrell Owens

Last year we were supposed to go 0-4/1-3 to open the season.

But you closed the season with basiclly 2 forfeits so it Balances out

And TO would be perfect on the New Jersey Egos

Good point. We forget that the Jets aren't trying to build a SB caliber team here. They are trying to build an ensemble cast to rival the likes of Mad Men come Emmy season.

Tubby Wrecks as Don Draper?.......ummm....don't think so.

Jon Hamm has to shave 3 times a day.....Rex Ryan shaves 3 times a season.

I'm thinking there might be a closet deal between HBO and VH-1 involving Terrell. Owens will sign briefly with the Green Beans which will boost ratings of both "Hard Knocks," and Owens' VH-1 reality show. Then the 'Beans will cut him, giving the reality show several more segments of drama to milk before he eventually signs with Cincinnati. It's all about $$$ and ratings, not football.

On target but missed the central bullseye. It's all about Woody selling PSLs.

THe whole deal, signing 'name' FAs, over the top proclamations by the Head Coach, HBO 'Hard Knockers' publicity, teasing fans with TO talk...all to pump up those flaccid PSL sales.

LOL, I don't think anyone is going to be confusing Rex Ryan w/ Don Draper anytime soon.

It's too bad Mangini's not there anymore, b/c he would make a good Pete Campbell.

I think it would be a great move for them in terms of being in the news always.

since TO proved last year that he can keep his mouth shut and play, I wouldn't be too surprised if he signs up with them.

Except he didn't keep his mouth shut. Why do you think the Bills didn't sign him? Because of his contract? He made $4 million last year.

He was always yapping, he was a major distraction in the huddle. I think he neutered the Buffalo QBs. He hates QBs. This is the last guy you want infecting Mark Sanchez's mind. I watched a lot of Bills football last year, and Owens didn't make headlines, but he was the arse he always is in the huddle.

So, I hope the Jets sign him.

Please, make this happen. They only have two overrated, contract-year WRs who can't catch the ball. Why not add another?

Right, I covered that base long ago. The HBO thing is all about PSL sales. So is Jabba Wrecks' role as resident carnival barker, and the signings of "name" free agents despite serious character issues.

This could just as easily be a PSL driven headline grab in the process of doing Drew Rosenhaus a solid (for which he'd screw some JETS player or facilitate a tamper for Tannenbaum down the road). TO has to have two suitors, minimum, or he ain't getting much more than minumum. It's tough to even rely on incentivizing a deal for him since that can lead to all manner of in season discontent...and the JETS could use a combination fan distraction/ratings booster early on in Camp Hard Knocks in the event Revis Island remains uninhabited...

Who in their right mind would pair TO up with Romo, Jr after watching what transpired in Dallas... Do these numbskulls honestly believe the Tubby could motivate a telephone poll or sell sand to an Arab drivel the media's been spewing all off season... Coaching credit for the 2009 JETS making it to the AFCC rightly belongs to Marvin Lewis, Norv Turner and what's his name the rookie Colts HC...

Oh please, oh please, oh please god let this happen. The possibility of watching the NY Jet's season going up in flames with Lady T. and TO would would bring me great joy.

Let's see here:

He has a huge ego and thinks he is above everyone else. Check

He is a big name who's name is bigger than his playing abilities. Check

He has no problem with saying whatever he wants and making an arse of himself in public. Check

Seems like a perfect Jets player.

Between Santonio, LaClassian, Bart Scott, Mark Sanchez, Revis, T.O., Edwards, Jenkins, and Cromartie, that locker room would have enough hot air in it to inflate a fleet of hot air balloons.

Or at least be able to float Rex up after they win....in the preseason.

Ravens, Pats and at Fins. Not just a Patriots' fan's wet dream...0--3 could happen. Put it this way, if they open 3--0, they would shut my mouth for a few weeks. If I'm a Jets fan, I'm thinking a realistic start is 2--1 and I can live with 1--2.

I'm thinking 1-6 is reasonably possible, maybe 2-5:
-Bal
-NE
-@Miami
-@Buffalo
-Minnesota
-@Denver
-Green Bay

Honestly, unless something changes (like Sanchez's play), the only two teams that it looks like the Jets can beat as of right now are Buffalo and Denver.

Last year we were supposed to go 0-4/1-3 to open the season.

You were also supposed to win more than 1 game between weeks 4 and 11, but that didn't happen either.

0 for a gabillion. That's what I'm hoping for.

I shouldn't take much pleasure in their tough opening schedule though...we essentially play all the same teams

T.O. has reportedly signed with the Bengals.

Per a league source, Owens will receive a base salary of $2 million. He can earn up to another $2 million in incentives.

The source says that the incentives are based on receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Bummer, the Bengals got him.
