OT: Chip Kelly New HC of the 49ers

The 49ers need players in all fronts, it's gonna be a long rebuild, let's see how he does now, there were some reports when he got fired that he wouldn't want personnel control anymore, only coaching, that's a good step, I'm not expecting anything from year 1 but it would be interesting if Caepernick could go back to that player he was in their SB run.

Tom Gamble, who was Kelly's choice in Philly before becoming a casualty in the Roseman wars, is in place in S.F.. With him, Kelly has a personnel guy who knows what he wants for players. Kelly will also have a QB who can run, which his offense really calls for. We should see Kaepernick playing a style more akin to his earliest years than what we saw last season.

What would be interesting to me is if Kelly also brought in RGIII. That would make for both an interesting QB battle and the potential rehabilitation (or not) of 2 NFL QB careers.
I was thinking all the same things. I wonder if he could even rotate Kaepernick and RGIII. Is such a thing feasible in today's NFL?

If we go thru these coaching carousels with one of our coordinators intact both i'd be like

Well I think the odds of Kaepernick staying in San Fran just went through the roof. Genuinely intrigued to see how he does there, hope they're willing/able to commit to giving him a few years to rebuild though. That team is a skeleton crew right now.

Assuming ownership can get out of its own way, this could be a great opportunity for Kelly to succeed.

Saw on Twitter that the Titans are likely going to name Jon Robinson as their GM who in turn will likely want McDaniels as his HC

So no GM Powers this time from the sound of it.

I hope he "sticks" around longer this time in SF

Good Luck to Chip. Ticked off the owner in Philly and never got a real chance to get his system working.

...Baalke isn' t exactly the second coming of Bill Polian or BB.

Worst case for Chip is he gets canned and goes back to college. Hes 52 so he doesn't have a lot of time left.

Intriguing idea. Particularly with the way QBs have started going down more often this year and the whole concussion protocol issue likely to increase the odds of having to sit your starter for 2-4 weeks each year: I think it is almost becoming a prerequisite to have a near-starting capable backup or 2 starter level guys.

However, I don't believe RGIII or his agent would go for that.

True. It does make you wonder just how much of a douche Jim was to get canned. I don't think it was performance based at all. I think he would have gotten San Fran at least one title eventually.

Great move genius... With a 6-10 record in the 5hittiest division in the league, to the best one.... Putting a hundo he's gone in a year.

I think he's just trying to get closer to his sugar daddy Phil Knight. When he gets fired next year he can just drive right back up I-5 to Eugene Oregon where kids come to wear "cool" jerseys, money flows like honey, and academics don't matter.

Maybe. At a minimum they would have been competitive.

Kapernick is a major concern. Not sure how he and Chip will co-habitate....if at all

They are also reporting Murlarkey is still the favorite to get the job.

Can't wait to read all the Australian news stories about how Chip is going to turn Jarryd Hayne into Barry Sanders now...

I think it's really the fact that Jed York is a ****

True statement - but I suspect it is likelier to be the rehabilitation of Chip as the new HC at College X right after his pro Head Coaching expires over the next 2 to 3 years

Interesting pairing with Kaep/Kelly. Roman took an interest in the pistol and Kaep was drafted from a small-ish college for that offense. When Roman left for the Bills, Kaep's offense left, too. I would guess that Kelly and Kaep will be a great match. Kaep makes it awful tough to like him--whenever the team makes a play, he sticks his face in a camera. Act like you been there before and you're going back again, son.

While I wish the man well, I cringe thinking that we're gonna hear the words "The Chip Kelly Offense" a scrillion times again next year by the mediots and announcers.

It still creeps me out watching Sam Bradford and the entire offense, pause mid-count, stand, turn to the sideline and get a play call.
