I said Russell's "1960s self" would come right in to today's NBA and be DeAndre Jordan Plus, meaning a top 3 defensive center and fast-break/put back force on offense. Obviously, if he were to take advantage of all of the modern training and skill development that modern players have, he would be better than that. So, I'm not belittling him, but I am not going to accept ridiculous statements like "he could've scored more if they needed it" to explain away his offensive inefficiency. Did he miss 56 out of every 100 shots despite playing 5 feet away from the basket and playing against guys like Joe Krebs on purpose? His defense was out of this world, and that's really what the Celtics needed. They probably wouldn't have won all those championships if you put a great offensive center in there in his stead. By the same token, HE wouldn't have won all those championships if he were put on a team that didn't have multiple quality scoring options, and was as all around strong as the Celtics were. So, it was a mutually beneficial situation. Russ was a great player made legendary by the exploits of his team and the team was a great team made legendary by the addition of Russell.

Krebs was basically the Moses Malone of his time. You wouldn't know that from watching tape though -- you had to see him in person to appreciate his greatness. And his name is JIM Krebs not Joe Krebs. I'm sick and tired of you belittling him with your disingenuous trolling.

Great anthem ... entire arena signing it ... way better than that horrendous guitar job at the San Jose game.

good job Cleveland!

kryie showed up. 16pts 1st qtr

Wow if Irving and Smith played like this the first two games it might actually be a series

No wonder greats from yesteryear laugh at the physicality of the current NBA. These fouls are incredibly soft.

MVP in foul trouble 2 games in a row. Lame.

another huge advantage from today's players - art of flopping. lol i bet nobody in 60's mastered this dark magic

All this talk about you need stars to win but, so far Curry and LeBron haven't been that good this series while we saw Dubs win two games with two huge games by the reserves and now the Cavs tonight doing it without LeBron exploding.

Eh, I don't want guys getting close lined. The greats from yesteryear never bring up that today's zone defense was illegal in their day.

That's a fair statement but glancing a player as you go up to contest a play should never be a foul, especially when the ball-handler initiates contact. As much as I loved The Truth, his jump into the defender then throw up a ******** shot always annoyed me.

What a terrible, boring Finals. 3 blowouts.

Refusing to blow every boston athlete does not make one a troll. Btw, your act of dismissing all dissenting views as "trolling" is tired and sad.
Silly letekro, don't you know by now that you aren't allowed to even THINK about making a post that doesn't involve a clear pro-Boston sports bias on this board?

The words objective and trolling are synonyms around here afterall

Yeah that Truth/Wade/Kobe jump into defender is annoying, they were getting rid of it a few years ago and like 20 games into the season they stopped caring lol. Not the players fault though, they'd be dumb not to do it. And then I guess Hibbert was allowed to go straight up but, nobody else. I feel like that was only allowed because NBA needed somebody to have a shot at beating the Super Friends. It kinda got ridiculous what the Pacers were allowed to do as much as I hated the Super Friends.

Big 4 Celts vs these Warriors would have been fun. It's waaaaaay too easy to get Draymond upset, KG would have had a field day with this kid.
