with lots of family on the north shore and family that had the unfortunate experience of living in Taunton, I 100% reiterate Taunton and surrounding area as massholes city. I am pretty sure half of the males in the 20-40 age bracket in the old "Silver City Galleria" area are or were heavily on crack and/or meth, and at a minimum did coke habitually on weekends.
The amount of petty theft in that area is through the roof. I'm talking Taunton, Raynham, Attleboro, Swansea, etc. ****ty, crime ridden area and generally these aren't immigrant gangs that perpetuate the crimes and drugs like in Lowell, Springfield, or Worcester area. yes, there are nice areas - just like there's "nice" areas in Holyoke, but this area is a complete **** hole more than any other area in the state.
