OT: Becton likely out for the year.

I agree, but so far it's been injuries holding Becton back which are impossible to predict.

I don't like labeling players a bust due to injuries.

Malcolm Mitchell was a great pick by BB despite him playing only 1 season due to his knee injury
Being too fat to get back on the field isn’t an injury.

If you are talking wins then every pick the Jets make are bigger busts then Harry
I’m talking about drafting a guy #11 having him miss more than 2/3s of the games and actually winning 2 games he participated in.

Jets curse is alive and well.

I remember him playing against us a couple of years ago and completely totally dominating ... and got hurt during the game

It is amazing how many prospects the Jets will land that I think are amazing prospects coming out that end up not panning out. Whether it’s injury (Becton), or they leave early (L Williams, Adams) or if it turns out they just aren’t very good. (Darron Lee and Dee Milliner come to mind)

I really liked all of those players. They somehow find a way to screw it up.

No he didn't.
I believe it was the first Jets game of the Cam year. Becton played about a quarter and a half and was stream-rolling guys. Certainly not worth getting into a pissin' match about, so, whatever.

To be fair, a broken kneecap isn't a 'too fat' injury.
Last year he couldn’t get back on the field after recovering from his injury because he was too fat.

It's not a "pissin' match," you're just wrong. Messy Bacon played only 15 snaps in that game and the Jete totaled 65 yards rushing.

The Jets had 152 yards rushing and averaged 4.9 yds per carry in that game.

We ***** about Pats drafting, but who T/F drafts a right tackle at 11 (injury prone at that)?

I'm sure someone will correct me, but the last 2 times I remember we drafted high, we came away with Mac and Vince.

I call them "injury busts" if they didn't have a significant injury history entering the league. [If you draft a player with significant injury risk and then they keep getting injured, that's a plain-old bust IMO.]

For example, Ras-I Dowling is a classic "injury bust": he had the talent to be a great CB. He just couldn't stay healthy, but was healthy for almost all of his college career at UVA.

Wow, Duane has indeed signed with the Jets. This thread has aged well.

If we define "high" as non-playoff-level (i.e., 18 or higher):

2001 Richard Seymour, #6
2003 Ty Warren, #13
2008 Jerod Mayo, #10
2011 Nate Solder, #17
2021 Mac Jones, #15

Wilfork was #21 in 2004.

I agree with that. It's why players like Daqwuan Bowers from a few years back fell.

Top 10 talent with 80 year old knees.

Ras IR Dowling was definitely an injury bust
