OT: Andrew Luck's Level

I think it's hard to say how good Luck really is, when he's playing from behind so often and trying to cover for a team with a bunch of critical-to-fatal flaws.

I think it's fair to say from what we've seen that he holds onto the ball too long, absorbs too much punishment, makes a couple questionable decisions per game, and all in all deserves some of the blame for the deficits the Colts consistently find themselves in.

But I'm not ready to declare that that's what he is. Maybe on another team he'd be a different, better quarterback. We can't definitively say he wouldn't be. So for now I'm inclined to just say he's on the lower end of the top 10 QBs in the NFL. If I was building a team from scratch, I'd rather have Wilson.

Luck hasn't done much to justify praise. Thus far we're still wading through the pile of hopes, dreams, and excuses projected on him. He's not a great QB now, he wasn't five years ago, and I don't see much evidence he will be five years from now.

Everyone complains about the lack of talent around Luck.

Brady did not have great WRs or RBs and he still won. Brady makes those around him better. I do not see Luck as that type of QB.

There are the first tier players (Brady, Big Ben, etc...). Luck is not there.
There are the second tier players (Wilson, Newton, etc...). Luck is there.

My only question about Luck is whether or not his NFL brain has been too set in the Colts stink. Guys like Matt Cassel (Chiefs) and David Carr (Texans) can tell you how damaging that sort of thing can be to a career.

Wilson is a 1st tier QB.

I wouldn't. Wilson has demonstrated that he has the mindset to win the biggest games. Luck, to this point, has demonstrated the opposite.

I have no real horses in this race but gotta interject here.. really ? Like a throwing an INT to give a away a Superbowl on the one yard line ?

At this point people are comparing teams and not individual players anymore. Of course Luck will throw more INTs being the king of **** mountain and playing almost all big games from behind. Similarly, Wilson was put into a team that had an elite defense and a running game which means he could be more risk averse from the beginning and develop without having to carry the team.

You are essentially comparing Zeke Elliot to Todd Gurley and saying the former has shown the mindset to win in the biggest games and the latter hasn't. Everyone is dependent on their surrounding talent.

Wilson is no Brady either. And most of this thread got into a pointless Wilson vs. Luck debate so not sure why anyone needs to even mention Brady here.

His level is under 9000.

I think the point is that Andrew Luck has had NO defense to keep him out of shootouts. The Pats D was other worldly during Toms early run.

Does the Colts defense throw INTs?

Luck is always missing something yhat the excuse makers will come up with.

Dude seriously? I wouldn't hold a literal one in a million play against a player. Especially in a game in which he gave the Pats all they could handle after the Pats minimized their main weapons and responding by connecting with bombs to Chris Wallace. He's been successful as a game manager of a running offense and now as the undisputed focus of the undermanned offense. He's more than legit in my eyes.

Brady had just about the same TD to int ratio that luck had at the same point in their careers. Brady had a very good defense to help him win championships. Luck has nothing. This is similar to what Elway put up with in Denver.

russell Wilson has never shown the ability to carry a team like a Brady, a luck, or a manning. I mean do you guys watch the games. I see the Seattle offense look mediocre a lot. Let me know when russell Wilson is throwing for 40 Tds

When Luck makes it inside a Super Bowl without buying a ticket get back with us.

How about some of the clutch plays that Wilson made in the NFC playoffs and in the SB vs NE? Seattle was at the goal line because of Wilson.

Agree with everything you said-except the last sentence. Id take wilson over luck in a heartbeat.

Yup, there are people that are just winners. Plain and simple. Brady is that. Wilson is that. Bledsoe was not. Manning was not. Luck is not.

Lmao man m. ************. Luck not a winner. Luck carried his team farther than they ever belonged

You guys know it's a team game right. Lucks situation isn't comparable to mannings. Manning had hall of famers around him. Manning had the nfls leading rusher (more than once) in his backfield.

His team stinks, sure, so there are some argue he overachieves. Personally, I think he's overrated. He has the physical tools to be elite-ish, but he is in the upper middle of the pack. I think it's more likely that that he will reach his full potential later in his career when he starts playing smarter and/or has a better "system" around him. We won't know until that happens.

Apples to oranges. Brady was playing under different rules.

When did Luck ever demonstrate the ability to carry a team? They've done nothing with him. And considering his division, the Colts should be a lock for the playoffs every year.

Are you kidding me. What did he have around him when he was taking his team to conference championship game. That roster is awful. And it's been awful since he got there. That's one of the worst offensive lines in the league this year. Yet he was having a really nice year. Come on man. They never gave him a defense, or a running game, or any real weapons. As I've said before this is elway esque.

Somehow, those weapons that he didn't have caught 410 passes. I'm sure that's only because Luck is the Chosen One though, nothing to do with the taleents of Hilton, Wayne and Fleener. He's had more to work with than Brady had in his earlier years, and he's been doing it in a league in which they're playing glorified touch football. He get's six games a year against the Texans, Jags and Titans. And every time he runs up against a real team in the playoffs, he craps his pants. No, the team clearly hasn't done him any favors, but nobody forced him to sign that enormous contract extension. He's not terrible, but he's not elite. He's in Stafford, Bledsoe, Favre territory.
