On Sunday, the No. 1 offense (Patriots) will take on the No. 1 Defense (Jets)

I do not understand the doubt that people are having over this game. Deep breaths. It is the JETS!!

While I do not think it will be a blowout, I do think the Pats win this game handily. The Pats are an elite team, and what the Jets have done so far this season does NOT put them in that same category. Are the Jets a team on the rise? Yes. Can a team like that pull off an upset here and there? Yes. Are the Patriots the type of team to allow that to happen, especially at home? No-effin-way!! It will not happen.

Reality-check-week in store for the Jets. Perhaps they are not the JESTS anymore, but they are not at our level. I think we win by two scores. I am thinking 31-17 or 31-20, something along those lines. I have a feeling that Chandler steps it up this week. He is familiar with the Jets, after all...and they will pay a lot of attention to Gronk.

I am just glad that it is a 1:00 game. Waiting until 8:30 this past week was torture.

Remember it's a division game. Division games can take on a difficulty that may not be expected from an outer division game. Further, the Jets are under new coaching that appears to be taking a distinctly different tact than recent years past. The Jets have among the lowest number of penalties in the league. They are 17th in fumbles and among the league leaders in + turnover differential. And on the turnovers it is probably artificially higher then simple team mental mistakes POV -- I suspect they knew Fitz would produce INTs and accepted the good with the bad with him (IMHO Fitz is the best passer they have had in quite a while).

Now take away them shooting off of their big mouths and the Jets are a ??? to me. So it will be interesting to see how they respond to this game. Playing the Patriots and even beating them is an AFCE rite of passage into respectability. Bowles/Jets obviously know this so we may see them as focused, largely mistake free and determined as we have seen in a long time. We'll still win though

Pats just beat #1 D in the SB. Picked them apart. Fitzy is no threat as long as we give him pressure. Main goal is to contain Ivory. We should win at home.

Jets OL hasn't been allowing pressure

nice, so finally we will see if Easley and Chandler Jones are really good.

I think that pats ll try to contain pocket and dare Fitzpatrick to throw. and heavy run d packages.

Remember SB 49 when the mediots anointed the Seahawks as the greatest defense ever.. even greater than the 85 Bears?? How did that work out??..

The issue is execution, need to be a little sharper offensively than were wear at the Oily Stadium and the Jets rely more on their running game to set up the pass.. BB and his brain trust will develop a game plan, it will not be an easy win.. but in the end, 6-0...

What does a game from last year have to do with the game on Sunday? This will be a tough hard fought game, false bravado will not win this game...Sure, we are fans, but we need to be realistic as well.

I feel like the pats offense is very conducive to facing a team like the Jets with a strong D-line. Quick receivers like edelman/amendola should provide problems to their corners like Revis/cromartie and expect them to use them on crossing routes to get open.

also, I think they will try and exploit the linebackers. Get Lewis and the tight ends going against linebackers in the middle of the field.

this is a tough defense. but in as many years Brady has an offense where he has at least 5 reliable targets in edelman, amendola, lafell, gronk, lewis and chandler should sprinkle in there somewhere.

the key is going to be our oline vs their D-line. if the line can hold up and brady can get the ball out before the pressure gets to him we will beat the Jets.

Jets have played scrubs
the Pats are not scrubs
the jets will come in overconfident and get whooped b/c of it

No, I don't think that. I think that you have to try to run against these guys, otherwise, they will jump all over you. Bradford is terrible and only threw for something like 120 yards on 30 attempts. He was and still is terrible.

This is a game were Gronk and Chandler will have to play well and score TDs. I see a close game - maybe 20-14 or 20-16. Something close and causing me to squirm so much my wife will think I have piles...

- Tough game with little real film to study, it's a toss up in my mind. 20-17 either way.

Two Things:

1) Sam Bradford lit this team up.
2) If the Patriots score 20 at home against anyone, they're going to lose.

Jets have been very quiet this week. Different approach to the game. We need to stop that running game

That defense was winning the game until injuries got the better of it. How many Jets defensive injuries are you counting on this week?

This isn't the Patriots facing the Jaguars, where there's no shot they'll lose the game, beyond the old "Any given Sunday" theory. The Patriots could win by 1. The Patriots could win by 40. The Patriots could lose.

Can we all just bask in this for a minute??

Belichick has faced Ryan Fitzpatrick 7 times beat him 6 and forced 20 turnovers by Fitz.
Last 5 games for Gronk vs Jets = 57 targets/33 rec/5TD

I think this will kill the Jets, we will have a few drives with great field position and the Jets defense will have no chance

I would take this current jets Defense over last years Seahawks. Better Defensive line and better CB depth

Oh ********. Sherman wasnt thrown at. Chancellor was flying around. Injury wasn't why Amendola got open against Thomas in the end zone

Yes, but his historic numbers might not be as predictive as his recent past:

  1. He’s intelligent.

  2. O line is giving him time to make the proper reads.

  3. His coach is not asking him to be or putting him in a position where he has to be the hero

  4. Effective and dynamic running game compliments the pass.

  5. He has two big targets that will fight for the ball.
I won’t be surprised if he throws a few interceptions and has a fumble but I also wouldn’t be surprised if he plays an effective and well managed game.

I don't know about that. But I do think they're better than the Denver defense that everyone has been excessively praising.

Injuries are part of the game, if you think that injuries were the reason we won SB 49 I think you are mistaken, in any championship game people get dinged.. it is about the depth. The mediots thought that the Seahawks were the greatest Defensive Team Ever..

The Patriots provided blueprint on how to beat them, and now they are floundering...

Avril going out changed that game, and that was after Lane going out had already changed it. If you think that wasn't a huge factor in the Patriots winning, you didn't pay attention to the game.

As for the "blueprint", yea, it's this....

Take advantage of the new CB2, and take advantage of a defensive backfield that hasn't fully gelled yet due to the holdout of Chancellor.

That's not really much of a blueprint.
