On Sunday, the No. 1 offense (Patriots) will take on the No. 1 Defense (Jets)

Only difference I see is Jets lost to Philly at Met Life and Pats beat Pittsburgh at Heinz.

SOS isn't that different......13-16 for Pats vs 12-17 for Jets.....

Should be another close game...Pats can win if they hang onto the ball as Jets are taking advantage of their Defense giving them the ball alot......

Halftime adjustments again will be key if Jets shut down Brady and the Offense early on......I can't see the Pats reaching 30 points. Running will be very tough and Revis will take away half the field. Hope Lafell is in shape to give it a go.....another game that will have both Jet and Patriot fans turning blue at the end....JMHO

Pats beat Steelers at Gillette.

This is the NFL, any team can win any game. That said, the Jets look really good, why is it so wrong to acknowledge that they look good and believe they will be a difficult challenge to overcome?

I just think the praise for them is over the top. Let's see how they do against an elite offense on Sunday. I remember in Week 2, we all thought Brady would leave Buffalo in a wheelchair after what they did to Luck in the opener. I still believe the Jets are not built to stop the Patriots offense, since their strength is in taking away typical athletic, fast receivers and their linebackers and safeties will struggle because that is who the Patriots generally attack. Do you know who the Patriots will attack? Demario Davis, David, Harris, Calvin Pace, Calvin Pryor, and Marcus Gilchrist. That is over half their defense and not a lot of talent there. It's not like it's going to be rocket science figuring out a gameplan, like when they've gone against teams like Seattle and Baltimore and there were literally only one or two guys they were trying to exploit. The Jets went out and spent all their money on a few big-time players, and that works against lesser teams. It does not work against well-coached teams with a guy like Brady at quarterback. The Jets have an awesome defensive line, which the Patriots neutralize by Brady's quick passes, they have an absolute stud in Revis, and beyond that, well, I think you are going to be surprised by the result on Sunday.

If the Jets defensive line completely dominates this game, that is one thing, but we've heard that drum beat leading up to a game many, many times. I also think the Patriots have a major advantage since they don't need to utilize their running backs by putting them between the tackles, which would play into the Jets teeth up front.

I believe the Jets are a really good team with a lead, where they can pound the ball, but if they get behind and it's in Fitzpatrick's hands to throw the ball into nickel and dime packages, they are completely screwed. Not so much different from the Jets of '09-'10.

Hopefully it'll be one of those "Best defense in the league. Suck my d*ck." kind of plans/games by BB.

Just saw this: Ryan Fitzpatrick has a 99.8 QBR in the red zone this season. but just 76.6 overall. Ultimately, everything regresses back to the norm. This statistic alone suggests the Jets are playing over their heads right now.

I don't see a blowout either way ...... close scoring affair with both teams in the 20's or high teens.

But WTF do I know

I do not understand the doubt that people are having over this game. Deep breaths. It is the JETS!!

While I do not think it will be a blowout, I do think the Pats win this game handily. The Pats are an elite team, and what the Jets have done so far this season does NOT put them in that same category. Are the Jets a team on the rise? Yes. Can a team like that pull off an upset here and there? Yes. Are the Patriots the type of team to allow that to happen, especially at home? No-effin-way!! It will not happen.

Reality-check-week in store for the Jets. Perhaps they are not the JESTS anymore, but they are not at our level. I think we win by two scores. I am thinking 31-17 or 31-20, something along those lines. I have a feeling that Chandler steps it up this week. He is familiar with the Jets, after all...and they will pay a lot of attention to Gronk.

I am just glad that it is a 1:00 game. Waiting until 8:30 this past week was torture.

This looks to be a really good game, a street-fight between two big, physical teams who don't like each other. I think BB will attempt to take away Ivory and keep McCourty over the top to help with Marshal and Decker. On the other side, I think Brady will continue to surgically carve their secondary if he has enough time.

However, the Jets may win the battle on the lines. If they do, it could be a long day.

I like having tough challenges for the Pats throughout the regular season. I think it makes them better in January (and February ).

Either way, I look forward to the game. And without question, I'd rather be us then them.

I don't like the matchups. Their good receivers vs. our secondary. Their good defensive line versus our rookie offensive line. On the other hand, our good everything else versus their not-so-good.

Our secondary vs your WRs/TEs and our Oline/RB vs your front 7 not too shabby either. I'm guessing most would say a push at best?

Drilling down... perhaps Gronk gives you the advantage vs Jets secondary since he's a matchup nightmare. But our running game vs your run D? Gotta go to Jets. Jets pass protection vs Pats rush... even?

Said it a bunch of times already, but it's Dion catching out of the backfield that worries me most.

It's a divisional game should be tough all of them mostly are, but I think this is going to be a win by a comfortable margin. For some reason people are downplaying the fact of Gillette where the Pats have amazing record against AFC opponents there.

Threads like this are why I use to hang out here. Well done.

Jets '09: 1-1 v. Patriots, playoff team, went to the AFCCG
Jets '10: 2-1 v. Patriots, playoff team, Beat Patriots in playoffs as well as regular season, went to the AFCCG

If this Jets team is like those Jets teams, there's a very legitimate cause for concern. That's especially true since Fitzpicksix is better than Sanchez.

Chargers are averaging more yards per game, yes, but they are mysteriously scoring 14 (FOURTEEN) less points per game than our own offense. They are incredibly inefficient and not even close to being on our level offensively.
Well if you saw the Chargers game Sunday it would be no surprise to see they're scoring less considering Rivers decides to fire into double coverage at the goal line rather than throw it to a wide open Danny Woodhead with the game on the line.

Only my opinions....
- Indeed, how many "#1 defense in the NFL" has New England faced recently (last 3 years) and done just fine? Plenty. Before week 10 a lot of ranks don't matter much, you need to check the schedule. That said the Jets D is really good.
- It's not the same Jets. New faces and most important is a new coach. They look much different to my eye (they have been on tv 3 times so I have seen a bunch of stuff from them) and are playing well. This is NOT the same Jets we have seen. It's going to be very different Sunday and I think coach BB and Brady are not watching Jets film, but rather Cardinals film.
- We are going to need 1 of 3 things on Sunday to win. 1.) our front beats theirs and we run the ball well OR 2.) We press hard, flood the line and force Fitz to throw AND our coverage holds up OR 3.) our players (I am looking at Edelman, Lewis and I think Amendola has a great matchup this week) need to win 1 on 1 vs some mix of coverages. Bowles dares you to go deep. We win a shoot out. Bowles coaching tree is about as weird as I have seen, but I would think Wade Phillips/Arians defenses are most like how Bowles plays. Denver/Cards D looks similar this year, no coincidence:

Coaching tree
NFL head coaches under whom Todd Bowles has served:
Coach Team Year(s)
Al Groh New York Jets 2000
Butch Davis Cleveland Browns 2001–2004
Terry Robiskie Cleveland Browns 2004
Bill Parcells Dallas Cowboys 2005–2006
Wade Phillips Dallas Cowboys 2007
Tony Sparano Miami Dolphins 2008–2011
Andy Reid Philadelphia Eagles 2012
Bruce Arians Arizona Cardinals 2013–2014

- We don't have an answer for Brandon Marshall 1 on 1 and the type of coverage I can think of to disrupt him will leave us in bad shape for.......
- Chris Ivory. LONG time Saints fan (since 1991) and saw Ivory for years. Gets better with carries as game goes on. If our front cannot get hands on him early and break his build up (remember Okoye and Barry Word on Chiefs years ago? If they got going it was a long night, but stop them early and often, they never got going). I think Ivory has a big day
- Tough game with little real film to study, it's a toss up in my mind. 20-17 either way. Second game I think we get it figured out and with JoJo back and up to speed..... we should be ok.

Wish that bye week had been later.

The Eagles of all teams, ran pretty well against the Jets. I would not forget the running game on Sunday.

I was worried about the stats, but then I looked to see that they've won against the Browns; Colts; Dolphins; Mighty Redskins; and were beaten by the at-.500 Eagles. And I was comforted.

Jets have played scrubs
the Pats are not scrubs
the jets will come in overconfident and get whooped b/c of it

Pats just beat #1 D in the SB. Picked them apart. Fitzy is no threat as long as we give him pressure. Main goal is to contain Ivory. We should win at home.

I see the headline from Bowles' saying his defense "has a ways to go". This guy is officially pissing me off with his channeling of BB .
Seriously, if he can actually instill this kind of singular focus within the Jets, in reality it makes me a bit concerned. The often built in advantage of a few Jet mistake gifts may not be there anymore.
