Im not reach to give up on the rook tight ends yet.
Between Covid the complicated playbook lack of practices and Newton acclaiming to the offense. Give the rooks a offseason to study the playbook get in in a NFL training room, hopefully improved QB play. We coild
See them be good to very good players.
They were productive in college and I remember some draft experts saying they loved both picks.
Not ready to close the door however giving up 15th for Wentz and Errz is intriguing pros and cons.
Get your popcorn ready.
Thre more I see of Kellen Mond the more he reminds of a Russell Wilson or a little. Bit of Doug Flutie/
I like the kid is trade from the fourth into the late third for him.

Oh I'm not giving up on them yet either by any means, and my thought process is similar to yours. I just think a veteran addition does a number of things. A) It gives the young guys a mentor to watch and learn from. B) It stabilizes the position in case they really DON'T get it (or at least don't in year two). And C) It means they have to earn their way into playing time, because if they're not better than the vet, they won't play.

Cousin, My interpretation is that the deal on the table for Wentz is two second round picks or one more than we got for Jimmie G,
Howie doesn't want the Eagles fan base to view him as B.O.
Every QB on the list of available have a flaw or two. I think Carr might be the exception and most ready. I would love Watson and Wilson but brother, they ain't going anywhere. Prescott isn't either but he is wayyyyyyyyyy overpriced. No reason for the Jets to trade a cheap Darnold even if they Draft his successor for at least a year. If you think that the Niners trade Jimmie G, they have to have a deal in place on one of the others listed prior, So Jimmie most likely stays.

So the realistic list is:
Carr who has the least flaws but will cost at least a pair of 1sts
Mariota-O,K, I would not be upset
Wentz-Biggest upside if you can fix him at 27. I want Ertz. Can solve this problem by giving #15 for their 2nd #37 and perhaps a 2022 2nd?
Trubisky-He play the secong half of the year was not bad. 2nd biggest upside to turn a career around.10 Games 16 TD's, 8 INTs 67%comp.
Minshew-Yep. He's cheap. Plays with emotion and his stats on a Team worse than ours, was reasonable
Fitzpatrick.-Like his game but he is a pure stop gap
Teddy B?- Panthers are trying to unload him. Why?
Kyle Allen-Dark horse. Bill tried to get him once before
Alex Smith-Great story but he is 36. He has two more inexpensive years on his contract.BUT Riverboat Ron is on the hunt for a QB. Telling?

I'm expecting a trade for a QB sometime just before free agency begins for a mid/late round pick, or at least some strong leaks that the Pats have a deal with a free agent QB. My primary targets are Mariota, Minshew and Trubisky. They all offer a little upside and, in theory, not that much in way of a commitment in terms of draft capital. So it wouldn't rule out trading for Jimmy or someone else better if they become available, or still getting a guy in the draft.

I'm sure it's not what people hope for but I think it's a more sensible strategy than trading a first round pick (and more) for a slightly above average starter. We need to keep our picks to inject some quality youth into the squad. I think using those picks on a stopgap QB would be a serious mistake. I'm not sure the gap between say Carr/Wentz and Minshew/Mariota etc is as big as the gap between a 1st rounder and a 4th/5th rounder.

Wentz and Ertz for a 1st then Trade Gilmore for a 2nd and trade Harry for a 5th is temping

Mike reiss mentioned this yesterday. You could trade for mariota since it won't cost more than a late round pick and still get Jimmy G if he's available later on.

But if he doesn't come available at least you have someone

Yea interesting for sure, they looked like a contender this year but the wheels fell off at the end, with the playoff shocker loss to the divisional rival Browns...

They have a very formidable defense, and JJ would certainly enhance it, especially on a rotational type basis where they dont need him to be superman every single snap. I guess its a matter of how much they want to commit to make it happen, there is a lot of flexibility in the cap short term to try for a title window, as long as you're willing to pay off the debt + interest later

Honestly, if pitt restructures ben and throws money at watt id be all for it. Its just going to screw them down the road. With or without ben and watt, they are likely going to be the 3rd best team in their division next year. The 11-0 start was a mirage, they will be losing dupree/ smith douche ster , and ben is a year older. Their best move right now is to reset but tomlin may be on the hot seat and feel pressured to go all in for a non worthy cause. Think saints with less chances of a sb before they are forced to rebuild.

Not to mention their LT & LG are FAs & their C retired.

Correct, the OL is in shambles right now and their RB's are also poor. I'd be alot more concerned about Pitt if they rebuilt the OL and added a running game where an over the hill Ben doesn't have to carry the offense. Watt would help alot if he's on the field, and lately thats been a big IF, but they still have major issues and QB may be the biggest. If they want to keep pushing those cap hits back and back I say go for it!

Interesting, I was looking at the stats from those in your list and while stats aren't everything, I was surprised to see that Minshew has a higher career rating than Carr... on a terrible jags team as well, plus he's only 24.

I haven't seen many of his games, anyone think Bill could make a franchise QB out of him?

I'm not changing my argument, I previously made a detailed post on the various moves the Bucs could make and specifically said the could use a mix of real and voidable years. It obviously would take agreement from the players, but there are multiple ways to do so.

If the team went to Brady and told him they want to pay him the same money for the year, but need to add voidable years to spread out the cap hit so that he can be surrounded by talent, there's no reason he would say no. He would have been thrilled if the Patriots had offered him something similar (i.e., the money he wanted plus adding talent in exchange for cap accounting tricks). There is absolutely no reason why players wouldn't agree. Your only argument was that the players wouldn't do it because it'd affect their franchise tag number, but that's not an issue for most players and the team could always add a no-tag clause to solve that problem.
Except, the Patriots were out of money even BEFORE signing him.

The Pats had an aging vet team - the BUCs are loaded with players on rookie deals.

The Bucs are in a perfect position to maximize the next couple of years. Barring serious injuries, they have a very good chance to get back to the SB next year, the year after.

I think Boston Scott needs to become a Patriot lump him with Ertz and or Wentz if we play with him.
Isn't Scott like JJ Taylor, only experienced?
