As in SB49, the act of passing wasn't the problem. The pass play chosen was.
the fact that they ran a QB sneak to just get 1 yard and the not the TD to burn time is frustrating. Then 6 Oline + 2 TE's couldnt get a yard for the Td.With 1st and goal at the 2 there should have been no passing plays called. Unacceptable not to convert there
I'm convinced Belichick is overly committed to the run and balance this year because they couldn't run for schitt in Denver in playoffs last year.... And Brady got killed because of itHarrison: Pats coaching staff outsmarted themselves
i was also kinda curious that they kept bennet out of a drive and also for the goal line package ,chosing to with a 3 WR package ,which resulted in a FG
Not good on special teams either. Lots of work to do, hopefully enough time to do it.The Patriots were:
Not much else to be said. I'm very concerned at the scheme employed today. The times the Pats got aggressive, Seattle regressed to recent form. 7-2 ain't the end of the world but the fact that Logan Ryan can't cover a damn anymore is worrisome.
- Below average on offense
- Below average on defense
- Below average on the sidelines
I do agree with you that I expect SEA to represent the other conference, but we seem to keep stating how much DAL are pretenders when they've beaten PHI, @GB, and @PIT. They have a balanced attack, an incredible running game and an average enough defense considering that they don't produce many turnovers.
I'm starting to feel as though they are better than we think. Are they good enough to go to the SB? Probably not, but I do believe that they'd represent the next tier after having SEA at the top.
GB and Pitt suck this year and with divisional rival Eagles its a coin toss whenever they play. I believe the Cowboys will touch down on planet earth soon.
Add in the game in Miami still to come and we could end up 11-5
I think the cowboys will be one of the top two seeds in the nfc. They will win that division.
Maybe - but that's because there are only 3 teams. Seattle, Dallas, Atlanta. But Dallas or Atlanta are not going to beat the team that I just saw Sunday night. Even with uncle Pete calling the plays

You're probably correct that Belichick is more committed to the run game after having one of the worst rushing attacks in his entire coaching career last season, but he sure as hell wasn't overly confident based on his selection of play calls on the goal line when the game mattered most.
We've seen this play out before--can you line up and smash the other team in the mouth when it matters most? That's what football is all about sometimes. There's a reason why one of our better posters has the phrase "it all starts in the trenches" as his signature. All we heard about the entire offseason was how much more physical the team would look by adding Bennett/Gronk, the return of James Devlin, and Scarnecchia taking over the OL again.
Rowe hasn't been very good other than the spark he showed against Cincinnati amd Long has mostly been a non factor after the first few weeks where he looked recharged. That's just my humble opinion, though.Something isn't gelling with the Defense. Where was Rowe, was Long benched in the second half? I'm confused, we looked lousy on D.
