I think the Ravens are going to be a handful for any defense if Jackson can stay healthy. You really want speed linebackers to limit his outside runs, but you need the Bigs in there for the 3TE wham blocks into the line. Tough to defend both effectively.
Hopefully we'll scheme up something better than tonight's mess if we meet them again.

people saying we should have drafted LJ

1 - you would've still been mad at the time it had happened
2 - you would not being saying that tonight in said universe, as he would still be on the bench.
3 - he would be on the bench because he would look bad in our offense, that's being ran because brady is the starter
4 - he would get f*cked by our offensive line lol. which sucks to say lol.

Lamar Jackson isn't a good QB. He's an athlete playing the QB position and his advantage is that teams aren't used to playing or practicing against an offense like that.
Did he complete a single pass more than 5 yards behind the los? I think I remember one.
We played a wild cat offense tonight.

I think it's a mistake to assume Metcalf would be anywhere near as productive here as he's been in Seattle. They've basically simplified his role to the point that it requires almost no nuanced understanding or the offense or route tree.

One could definitely argue that maybe the Pats should be more open to carving out that kind of role in their own offense, but that would be going against a pretty basic philosophy that's yielded a ton of consistent success so I'm not really prepared to go that way.
Metcalf was the #1 rated WR for the 2019 draft, by virtually ALL the prognosticators. And the crazy thing was he fell in the draft because of injury concerns, yet Harry hasn’t seen the field yet (due to injuries).

Lots of mistakes but most correctable with coaching and hopefully returning personnel like Wynn.

Can we defend tight ends is a question I have. The Eagles have 2 pretty good ones. Pederson will be attacking Newhouse almost certainly in 2 weeks.

Newhouse shouldn't be starting in two weeks. I don't care if another OL is signed off the street. This guy is going to get Brady killed. And he's just awful.

I’ve said for a long time that Harbaugh is the second best coach in the NFL. Gotta give props to the Ravens. I still that offense is going to fall flat like basically every offense in league history in the postseason when your QB needs to beat teams from the pocket.

Surprisingly, I think the Patriots have a better chance to win the SB than before the game. Sanu could not have looked better. Their defense still got a lot of pressure and covered well (though I was a bit concerned about defending tight ends, since we’ve faced some pretty bad ones.)

I HATE seeing Watson on clear passing plays over Meyers.

The only thing that I think could truly make the Patriots virtual non-contenders is if Wynn doesn’t come back. Newhouse has to be the worst LT in the league.
It's worth noting that Baltimore had two weeks to prepare for the Patriots.

You need a big stout run defense. We have built a defense to stop the pass and this is its Achilles heel. 5 ol 2 Te a fb a rb and a running QB with one WR is exactly the offense to take advantage of a defense that plays nickel base and is small on the DL.
We have to game plan to adapt our d to that o

I’ve been saying this for a while now...huge huge question marks made by our front office when it comes to drafting skill positions.

Michel > Chubb

Passing on L Jackson twice

Passing on DK Metcalf twice for two players who have yet to make the active roster

Passing on C Ridley
Michel was a key player in the SB run last year, but I agree overall vs Chubb, in 2019 he’s been useless, he’s been the invisible man.

Brady's arm/wrist/hand? issue
Misses short throws
Underthrew Sanu at least 2x, but esp on deep ball
Sanu also lost sight of it, prob expecting it over the top.

...we draft Lamar Jackson...he’s not playing AGAINST us. We’re protected during Brady’s final years.

Metcalf can get open and catch the ball.....we need that

How many years have you bee watching Brady? That's not how he plays - at all. You know who was open here all the time? Ochocinco. I was at the games - he was breaking free and Brady would not look at him.

I don't know why they play like that - sometimes it makes me crazy, too, but if I were a WR coming out of college, the LAST place I'd want to play is in New England with Brady. Well, maybe not the last, but certainly last among teams with decent QBs.

If Harry were with another team, he'd probably be lighting it up. Damien Harris, too.

As long as his legs and dance moves force defenses to become so confused that players are wide open to pass to, he’ll be successful. The minute he lacks the tap dancing skills, he’s going to be terrible. Ravens racing against the clock until an inevitable injury. It’s a college offense in the NFL, and Jackson is absolutely terrible on accuracy and reads. In a few years we will laugh about the hype about “the next Michael Jordan of football.” Decades and decades tell us this type of player has a very short shelf life. I have a lot more faith in Deshaun Watson as a dual threat, since he can actually pass very well.

What? Metcalf wasn’t the top rated WR. Metcalf won the combine workouts.

Usually these types of offenses get figured out pretty quickly too.

I believe Michel was benched tonight, or reduced snap count. He can’t catch passes, he ran the wrong route and Brady gave him a nasty look

Think the offense as a whole looked good, minus Newhouse of course. Sub him out for Wynn, add Harry, you've got a nice offense IMO. Wish the TEs were better but I'm just missing Gronk still I guess.

Defense got knocked down a couple pegs (up front anyway), but I'm confident they'll rebound fine. They have the talent. They probably needed to be humbled a little.
I'm starting to think the impact of LT alone on this offence cannot be understated.

lmao, that'd be quite the defensive play call right there

"we drafted him so he couldn't play us. in the mean time, we've been demoralizing him every chance we can. either he retires now or leaves his rookie contract doubting his every move for the rest of his career."

Well, it proves the Patriots are a front running team so far...the one test, they failed...pretty sure they've beaten one team w a winning record...they played one Tonight and got waxed...next FOUR are vs winning teams... meanwhile, KC does not play a winning team until they play NE...it's not out of the question that both teams have 3 or 4 losses when they play

Are you still on this **** AJ?
