Official Post Game Thread- Rams beat the Pats

Is this was the Colts they would probably raise a banner!

Hope is a beautiful thing (especially in 2020) but when it fails it's a such a punch to the soul. I hoped at the start of the season for the playoffs and that goal now the equivalent of someone playing the Cliffhanger game on the Price is Right and saying a hairdryer is $200

That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing how the last 3 games play out. I'd love for them to affect the Bills or Dolphins playoff position in some possibility.

I typically enjoy the Aikman and Buck duo but they were borderline unbearable last night, it seemed like every second line was about this being a revenge game for SB 53...
Bills will win the division but I like to think they will beat the Dolphins next week and throw a wrench into their playoff hopes. Now that's revenge. Works for me!

So many reasons why Cam shouldn't have lasted this long. I mean, he's supposed to bring the "running" value, but even in called QB run plays, he was more skittish and indecisive than ever - even at the goal line!! He just seems to be mentally defeated, so enough already!
And it's not a fair evaluation of Stid taking sacks - it was the last 1/8 of a blowout game where he's obviously passing, and one of the best pass-rushing teams is just teeing off. Still, his quick decisions and accurate passes in that situation were better than anything Cam's done in months.
As to the "great leader" effect - this team knows there's no hope this year now. So, there's no great motivation other than to play for a job next year. May as well put guys in that have a chance to produce next year on this team. It's so obviously time to roll with Stid. And, I bet they'll be more competitive - I wouldn't be surprised to see them win @Mia and vsNYJ

Stid has a bright future... in the XFL3.0.

Can has a great futur on his couch
Probably. Thankfully the Pats should be in much better shape at QB next year with neither on the roster.

Eluemenor should not be allowed to play another game in the NFL. He was truly beyond horrendous and makes Marshall Newhouse look like Anthony Munoz.
Definitely shouldn't be starting left tackle. Maybe an in game emergency substitution.

I hope Harris is ok. He alone is worth watching for the rest of this season. I feel bad for Cam. He is cooked or hurt or both. Tough to watch him play.

They should beat Miami or Buffalo. That Jets game will be interesting. Not sure Bill lets them win it?...

If the Jets win 1 game do the drop to #2 in draft order? What's the tie breaker?
As mentioned by another poster the Pats could screw them out of that pick potentially?
Listen, the Jets aren't as bad as their record. Their receivers are coming on, Mims is good, Perryman is finally playing, Crowder should be a Patriot. They have lost at least two games because of their coaches. Do not think this game will be easy.

The NE playoff talk can finally be put to rest.

Pats are staring at 6 - 10. No troll either.

The NE Pats are a bad road team. @ Miami is going to be a dogfight. Just force Cam into being the passing QB like the rest of the NFL. The Miami defense is legit and if their offense can get out to the point of Cams no return double digit lead, all the Pats got for Christmas was 6 - 8.

Buffalo has the passing firepower to equal the Rams. Every dog has his day and its the Bills turn to lay a beat down on the Pats. Hello 6 - 9

If the Jets have the Lawrence pick safely locked up, I can see them taking out all the losing out on the Patriots. Jacksonville winning 1 more game is the catalyst here. If you see that happen, look out for 6 - 10. Perfect scenario - last 2020 season game, in NE, showcase Sam Darnold off to Pats fans for a 2021 trade.

Still feel like the defense has shown promise for next year, they kept us afloat and with a half decent qb we are tied or better going into halftime. My priorities next season would be trying to keep guy and butler, jcj should be easy to retain with being an rfa , and add some mid level fa at de and dt, possibly lb if we dont see enough from what we have.

special teams was strong again. Gunner is now a legit weapon. Bailey is a stud, coverage is as good as it gets and folk if he is still this good next year solidifies the k spot.

Passing offense obviously is a mess and where the most work is needed. Get a qb at all costs imo, that fixes more than we may realize right now. With a qb we win this game and probably kc /denver as well, sitting at 9-4. Mid level pickups at wr/te. I feel like alot will be available at de/dt/wr/te given the teams about to enter cap problems. Qb of course is much tougher to fill, but should be priority.

trying not to get too down about this team, we’ve been in all but 2 games till the end. Still looking alot like the 2000 season where we were actually just one solid offseason and a qb away.

Darnold would be intriguing. Has wheels and he can pass too. Can he stay healthy?

Throws INTs like Cam too.
True. Hope that could be coached out of him if the Pats pick him up.

I'd rather have JG but he's not bad.

the team looked like one that was in LA for a week but wasn't allowed to do anything but stare at goats

Last season this team had major red zone scoring issues with another QB. As bad as Cam has been maybe it's not all his fault? Play calling? Lack of red zone threats? Execution? 4 trips last night inside the 20 and 0 points. Can't all be the QBs fault. It's a team sport.

I’m curious but who are those mid level pickups at wr or tight end? Right now QB is an uncertainty.
I still wish we had 3rd rounder to give us flexibility in the draft. They need a hr in the draft. Draft well.

Disappointed in the defense last night. Poor tackling, no push, getting pushed, disappointed in John Simon one of my favorites and he just didn't have it last night, Bentley, just doesn't show up, Winovich doesn't need to be platooned, just leave him out there. I thought Phillips was the one bright spot, don't know how many tackles he made but he seemed to be in on most of them. Cam puts the offensive players in a tough spot. I will be disappointed if he trots out there for the Miami game. Hmm, disappointed is apparently the word for the day.

We often say that the receiver doesn’t help the QB. We could argue this year that the QB hasn’t help the receiver very much.

If this team had an average QB we’d still have WR’s that made people think Brady was done last year, an offensive line that needs everything perfect to play well because they lack so much depth, and a front seven that could make me look like Walter Payton.

We have a good secondary.

If Brady had this healthy Oline, this running game and these receivers last season the Pats would have been SB contenders.
