PostGame Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Panthers

Have you tried the Sam Darnold?
Sam Darnold is my favorite.

Not necessarily. Just may be too expensive at the time. Although they are way overusing him
14.3M, 17.9, 17.9, 13.6. Those are his next 4 cap hits. And the cap is expected to jump considerably after 2022 due to the new TV contracts kicking in. He won't be too expensive. Not when the Panthers are projected to have over 100M in cap space in 2023..

Not sure who is worse Sam Darnold or Adam Archuleta?? Guess Bryant Gumbel got the short straw,Archuleta 's commentary is not only incorrect for the most part, but boring as hell.
Can we say you? That wasn't Bryant Gumbel announcing today. That was his brother Greg..

If we assume winning 10 games is enough for a playoff spot... They can lose both Buffalo games and one of the Cleveland or Tennessee games (both of which are at home), and would just need to win the other of the CLE/TEN games, plus win @ATL (4-4), @IND (4-5), vs JAX (2-6), and @Mia (2-7) to get to 10 wins.

Great grinder win!!!! 2001-esque.

Also, while I suck at betting and picking winners, I give myself full credit for calling the "feel" of this game, early in the GDT:

FYI: I can neither confirm nor deny that the dog is Nike.

This is false. That wasn't Wynn's fault despite the commentary here on the boards. The Pats were attempting to pull Shaq Mason across and Mason couldn't get there. It happened TWICE. The first time resulted in the strip sack. The second resulted in Harris being injured.

There is something terribly wrong with that Play design and the Panthers took advantage of it because Burns was lined up wide.
IIRC the TE was on the other side. I think just having a TE on left side give a slight chip or at least stand in the way before you go out on route would have been enough delay to let Shaq get there.

Keeping a close eye on Gunner, Harris, and Rham this week. Would like them all for cleveland, but having at least one of Harris / Rham would be huge. I have faith in JJ to chip in with either of those leading the way.

5-4 now , I remember when people were saying after the rough start that 5 wins is the best case scenario lol LFG!!!!

Don't forget that Justin Bethel's play will be key for next week, especially considering how well he played against the Panthers!!

Definitely a good couple weeks as far as the team goes when it comes to wins. I thought the defense was really solid but then again they were playing Donaldson who historically has been terrible against the Patriots.

I don't think the offense was particularly solid. The offensive line broke down a few times and I don't think Jones had a very good game either but I know Carolina has a pretty good defense.

Like I said good wind hopefully they keep the momentum going next week

Does anyone know if BB has a special relationship to Panthers coach Matt Rhule?

At close of game, BB spent an extraordinary amount of time (for him) talking after shaking hands

I'd rather not depend on the luck of other teams doing badly. The Patriots have a chance to take this division by the horns by beating the Bills. That should be the focus. If you can get the division title, that's a way more sure way into the playoffs than hoping to get in via Wildcard.

Also don't count on 10 wins as a sure get into the playoffs anymore. The season has now stretched to 17 games instead of 16. It's quite likely that 11 wins has become the the new minimum win amount to gain wildcard entry into the playoffs.

6-2 to finish off the season doesn't look that unlikely anymore considering how weak the schedule is and the momentum the Pats have built in recent weeks. But yes, it is possible to sneak in with 10 wins by finishing 5-3, it just doesn't feel nearly a sure thing with a 17 game schedule.

I don't think that 10 games is enough. I'm not sure that 11 games is enough.. 10 of the 16 AFC teams are within 1 game of each other.. The AFC North and AFC West are ridiculously tight with all 7 of 8 teams over .500 and KC at .500.

The Pats need the win against Cleveland to ensure they have the tie breaker over Cleveland in the WC. Cleveland may or may not win their Division. Barring a Total Collapse, I see Cleveland as the #1 or #2 team in the AFC North.. #2 means WC.

The Pats already have the Tiebreaker over the Chargers. The Pats need to continue winning conference games.

Play-off seeding is going to depend heavily on the Conference record for the 3 WC teams as well as overall record. That's why I think that 11 games might not be enough with the 17 game season.

Apparently the same crappy play led to the Mac Jones' fumble and also Harris getting hurt later. Who is drawing up these crappy plays that aren't fully vetted out before on field use.
