The division is so bad Pats are in it
For years the Pats enjoyed the benefits of being in this Division. They won the Division before the season started because the Bills, Fins, and Jets sucked. Now the Patriots have joined the others, a Division of Suck.

I have questioned Troy as a coach for a while now. Obviously the fact that Thornton is brittle cannot be coached up (other than teaching him to protect himself from injuries as best as possible, but I don't think that is why Thornton has been constantly injured), but I still think most of his biggest issues (route running, running through routes, managing the sidelines) are all coachable things.

Douglas is not the best route runner either and runs a lot of of the wrong routes, but that can be hid because he is a player you get the ball to quickly and he can improvise after that.

When Troy said last year that he didn't think the fact the receiver were all bunched together on their routes wasn't an issue, I really started to question his coaching.
Sample route running of douglas

We had similar routes last week on the 1st 3rd down where the WRs are running together . BOB said it was something he owned up to.

Funny - WR is the main thing I care about... I spend the whole offseason focusing on the draft for WRs. My draft Beankie caught a 50yd bomb diving full extension today. Bittersweet feeling.

FYI, you said, "They literally went into this season without addressing their WR issue." They did. With the WR1 from the SB winning team. It failed. I just wanna see what Boutte can do.

I just don't see how literally Adding a new guy to the mix is addressing the issue.

Stop saying the number 1 wr from the Superbowl winning team as if that somehow has mode brownie points.

Besides the fact he he was pretty awful and underwhelming for them last year, Travis is their number one receiver.

We're in disagreement hard here on what addressing even means. You apparently think simply adding a wideout has addressed the situation where as I don't look at it that way.

Anyone with a brain could tell you that juju wasn't going to change anything for this team.

Just like the comments said on that tweet, "The ball hit him on the hands, in stride" That is a GOOD pass. Juju Can't catch ****.
Juju bailed Mac on an awful pass 8 miles behind him the play before. I think they are even.

Mac was awful today. He missed wide open guys all day long. But yeah we can focus on it’s Juju fault for losing.

People still trying to justify that Mac's not to blame ? Obviously not all his fault, but we all know QB is the ultimate piece to a football team
Switch QB yesterday and the Patriots would have blew the commanders out

The Bears are gonna be sitting pretty. 2nd and 3rd pick plus whatever they get back from trading Justin Fields away? Imagine if they let a different QB-needy team trade up to 3 behind them, they'll get a haul for that too. Plus #1 in cap space I believe.
I'm assuming Murray is Arizona's franchise QB going forward still. So they won't pick a QB. Thus, I do indeed see the Bears trading the 3rd pick for a haul.

Question is whether they would trade out of the second pick, and what it would take etc. In that instance, Bears would probably be higher on Maye (3rd OA) than Williams. Since Williams is projected to be the first QB taken.

Arizona should take MHJ if they get first.

Branching off on my last post.

Trading away Young and Sweat clearly didn’t shatter the Commanders resolve today. I think people just don’t understand the league. The large majority of these guys would love to win a championship. And they’d love to win. But they’re also going to be in the league a very limited time. They’re going to replaced quickly, they’ll look for another team, maybe they’ll get another contract, and before long they’re out. Almost all of these guys are playing for their livelihood, to impress, to prove themselves each week. Everything they do on the field is being evaluated by not just one, but thirty two, potential employers.

In other words, the overwhelming majority of the Commanders roster doesn’t give a **** if Chase Young got traded. They’re not going to fall into an existential crisis. Do you think Sam Howell is thinking about things like this? He’s fighting for his life as an NFL starter. He knows the odds, the opportunity, the reward, etc.

This idea that teams “tank” or lose the ability to compete hard if the team is looking towards the future…largely a myth. Sure there are exceptions (veterans who took less to try to win) but those are very rare.

The Patriots shouldn’t “tank” inasmuch as tanking really exists, given that players aren’t going to stop playing their hardest so some team (maybe not where they’ll be next season) can move up three slots in the draft. But the Patriots should be doing everything possible to position themselves better for the future.
I don't agree. You're going to see a lot of dogging it (you're already starting to see it with extremely lazy route running, OL just plain stop blocking, etc) and business decisions being made on the field the second half of this season.

Giants, AZ, Carolina and Bears are all clearly worse than pats. Best we can reasonably hope for is #5. We wont be getting Caleb Draye or Harrison
Unlless Mac gets injured or benched

Prepare for a long rebuild with or without BB
Mac will find a way to cough I mean choke away the game. We Need the Giants to win that head to head.

Wasn’t the pass, it was the decision. Tough play when they didn’t need to take that risk.

That’s part of what makes me crazy about Mac: situational awareness. He throw jump balls at Xavian Howard. Don’t do that.

And when Howard’s out, he goes after Ramsey.

Ever notice how other teams find the weak CD and pick him apart? Ever see Mac even try that?

Situational awareness…he has none.
....and he's not accurate despite what his comp % is.

I swear on almost every throw the ball is not where it needs to be.

Sure, he has receivers who are unable to gain separation but there was a throw yesterday which was behind Pop. The throw to HH was an exception. His skittish feet do not help

That conversion throw before Juju made a great catch on a poorly thrown football. Let's just say Mac was way off.

Exactly.

The BS narrative is, "Mac needs talent around him to bring the most out of his ability as a QB" is garbage.

The real narrative is, "Mac needs guys who make exceptional catches because he is not accurate in space and makes bad decisions"

No chance for Maye, unless can swing a trade up to 2...but McCarthy and Jalyen Mcdaniels will likely be available where pats pick.
If Bill stays, I will bet he signs Garropolo.
And Micky D is coming back too.

They will keep Corky as well.

It will never be called a firing. It will be worded as "Bill and Bob have mutually decided that a parting of the ways will be best for both parties. Bill will be moving on to assume the Giants executive VP job overseeing all football operation"
I was talking about McDermott and the Bills in my post

Bill Belichick needs to be fired tomorrow ….as well as his sons and achord for starters….
Have I just not noticed when it happens, or does nobody ever get fired on BB's staff? Guys move on to get fired elsewhere, sometimes a contract isn't renewed, and one or two guys were let go for refusing the vax, but nobody gets fired for performance reasons. A guy like Achord would have been relieved of his duties 3 years ago anywhere else.

Or does it happen same as any other franchise and it just flies under my radar?

The first narrative is mostly true, though. It’s what most people understood when he was drafted. And it’s exactly what the Patriots didn’t do. Ask the defensive players who have played against the Pats. They don’t really have to worry about anyone.

He makes bad decisions. A lot of QBs do. The problem is he can’t make up for those bad decisions by utilizing his own or his teammates’ playmaking skills. That’s because they basically don’t exist.
