You make it sound easy, just go out and draft another qb, but its not. Its hard to find a top notch quarter back. Look at the highly regarded class that mac was in, they've all bombed but t lawrance
Can we be real... Mac was the 5th QB taken. He wasn't some premier pick in that draft that was a gotta have it QB. He was viewed as a high floor, low ceiling guy who would make decent decisions but wouldn't make crazy plays. People just blew smoke up Bill's butt because he didn't have to trade up like the 49'ers and Bears. People should realize the Bears jumped us in that draft knowing we would go QB and they didn't pick Mac. In addition, the Panthers and Broncos were also teams that should have been looking for a QB and decided after the first 3 went that they weren't wasting a first rounder on one.

He got hyped up more than he should have because Bill was making the pick and people just assumed Bill wouldn't screw up and not trading up was supposed to be icing.

I don’t think BB intended to tank for Caleb or Maye, but I honestly believe he’s at least considering the possibilities now considering the state of the team.

At this point, he may not have control of it. They don’t have any game on the schedule that they are likely to win at this point.

The particulars of who did what in the game no longer interest me. I want to know what's going on in the head office. Year after year the team gets worse, the talent gets worse, the coaching of the talent gets worse. The trend is obvious. Without changes next year will be worse.
Uhm, how would one go about making it worse than it already is?

George Pickens just elevated a bad QB into a win against a top team in this league while Thornton who Belichick selected before him hasn’t played a down and has been on IR his first two season in the league. So I guess I agree with you.
I think he was too afraid of picking N’Keal Harry again that he opted for speed over strength. And I don’t disagree with that if you’re going to use him like the Dolphins use Hill (hit him in space and let him run). But if you’re just going to heave it up the sidelines, it makes no sense. They should have learned that from the Bethel Johnson experiment years ago. Although Thornton arguably has better hands.

The Patriots suffered their WORST loss in 50 years!

Those who have been defending Mac Jones...

It's time to finally stop. You're just embarrassing yourselves at this point.

It's clear that the Patriots need to make wholesale CHANGES to this offense for next year.

The offense is a complete JOKE. Keystone cops - fumbling, bumbling, turnovers, and ZERO points on the board.

Not even a single drive that threatened a touchdown.

This isn't just a scheme issue anymore as was the case last season, it's an overall TALENT issue!

Kraft needs to take away BB's GM KEYS. He can not be allowed to RUIN our talent base on offense year after year!

This is what you get! Rock bottom!

You guys wondered why I was so negative about our draft? Because we didn't address ANY offensive needs whatsoever despite GLARING NEEDS!

Who knows maybe BB even 'retires' gracefully rather than officially getting fired but something needs to change DRASTICALLY before we see any improvement!

The only question is, does BB even understand how AWFUL the situation is or will he just 'run it back' this way the rest of the season and hope that things magically change somehow?

I think when you’ve come to the decision to take away some of BBs duties it’s best to just make a clean break and end it. Start fresh with a new regime. He’s in his 70s. The day would be here eventually when Bill was no longer the head coach.

Bill is the best head coach ever in my eyes. But he just can’t or won’t adapt to today’s NFL and the Patriots cannot win his way anymore.

As always, align with the obvious majority opinion. For three years, you take the cowardly lukewarm stance defending Bill, arguing in circles, and now that everyone else is finally off the Bill Bandwagon you’re going to act like some kind of independent thinker.

You forever belong on Team Bill and you and others should remain on the bandwagon.

Is Shedeur Sanders special? I like the idea of having Prime Time's kid on the team. I'm assuming some issues with decision making and maturity, however, after hearing he's already bought a Maybach and a Rolls Royce Phantom as a college kid.
He looks a bit small but has all the tools both physical and mental. If you listen to his post game interviews he has the right mindset. I am a fan.

The expensive cars part - let's not forget he was born and raised rich.

He’s already with the Rams under contract through 2026. Why would the Rams let him go?
Maybe we can offer up a draft pick for him. From what I understand, he wants to move on.

The Pats should try and trade anyone that they can get a pick for. BB has clearly lost the team, I go back to the Strange pick which was indefensible (yet many of you tried to tell me the opposite). The utter lack of talent on this team is shocking. It was clear after last year that Mac was awful, I take no glee in being right about that too.

The Thornton over Pickens, N’Keal over anybody else, the trade downs, the 20 years of wasted 2nd rd DB picks, it all needs to end!

Trade away what you can, Fire BB (and his kids) in the off season, pray that the Bears don‘t end up with the #1 pick, draft Caleb and go from there.

Bill has the look of a coach that has no answers to what he sees on his team.

It’s time Bob.

Doubt he wants to move on here lol. Better chance he’d go to the chargers

Bledsoe was a trainwreck too. Inconsistent.

Once he was benched for good the Pats as a whole team got better. The team believed in their QB.

Today, the pathetic Pats offense converted on 1 3rd down.

Hey snowflake! I was thinking about it. Did you choose your screen name because you are such a snowflake or was it a happy coincidence. Asking for a friend.

BTW, go back and look. I have consistently said all last off season that Belichick should have been fired after last year.

Real changes will be made after this season. Bob’s hand will be forced if they can’t get at least 5 wins. I’m not saying Bill gets canned, but I think a big shake up lies ahead.

Rep Zappe from now on with the masquerading Starters.

That’s the key point. It would be one thing if they were losing playing Patriots football. They’re not, and it’s been going on multiple seasons now. Unforced errors. Terrible special teams. Undisciplined decisions. That’s why I’ve sadly reached the conclusion that BB has lost his mojo and we need to start moving on.

I think his philosophical way of building a team is outdated. Good Players aren’t taking discounts and the coaching and scouting has been well below average for a while now.

The roster is also a mess. What’s the purpose of not IR Judon and for the 2nd week in a row carrying 52.

This team is almost 1977 Tampa Bay levels of bad, and I’m serious. The offense is that terrible.

Why they’ve delayed a legitimate rebuild for the past three years to keep this continuously dreadful team together shows how dead in the water this team ia

There’s no bright spots, no future and the team needs to be rebuild entirely
We do indeed need to move on.

HOWEVER, we took a shot on Mac Jones being the next Herbert, at least a top 10 QB. If that worked out, the results might be very, very different. It is easy to blame everyone.

Consider that the different in drafting capitol between the best and worst team is exactly ONE pick, a very high one, but one pick.

Let's say we get the 3rd pick in the draft.
Compare those resources to the SB winner,

picking 3rd 3, 35, 67, 99, 131, 163
picking 32nd x, 32, 64, 96, 128, 160

The difference is ONE draft choice. We get that #3 pick and then pick 3 picks AFTER the SB winner after that pick.
==================
Yes, a top 5 pick COULD make all the difference. Or not.

So why was it all patricia ?
Patricia was a legitimately bad play caller. There was a real argument the offense was marginally better last year with a better running attack and at least one decentish WR. Patricia also had an overall easier schedule. Patricia probably got too much blame over all, but he had no business being an OC. BOB imo is nothing special, but he's a pretty paint by the numbers OC who doesn't do anything offensive. It's just, he's always going to be in holes because his talent sucks and he's not creative or forward thinking like other OC's. Even someone like Josh is a lot better at breaking down the defense and finding clear weaknesses to latch onto and getting something going. Honestly idk why people though BOB was some savior. He was an OC in a year they had Gronk, Hernandez and Welker healthy most of the year in addition to a returning Branch. Then the run game featured Vereen, BenJarvus, Woodhead and Ridley. Dude had an embarrassment of riches on offense.

This situation isn't BOB's fault, but he's not the guy to get the team out of it either.
