? Pittsburgh went on the road and beat the AFC champs. We can’t take any team lightly, we just put up 7 pts.

Look, if Pittsburgh ends up being a formidable team, so be it, I'll eat crow. To only win by 3, in OT, despite a +5 TO differential is pretty significant.

No NFL game is easy. I just think Pittsburgh is a better matchup than Miami. We'll see.

I'm not sure what game Andrews and Bill were watching if they think we were moving the ball well and just couldn't finish drives. We had one trip into the red zone and just 270 yards of offense. That is not moving the ball well. This sort of thing happens when a coach is starting to feel the pressure, 5 years ago Bill would have told us that wasn't good enough but he can't be honest now.

I mean, they were moving the ball pretty well at times. There were some bad drives in there, too, but they advanced the ball across midfield twice on long fields and ended up turning it over both times (tipped INT, Agholor fumble).

I definitely disagree that Bill is being dishonest because he's feeling pressure re: job security. Anyone who genuinely believes, barring something like a 2-4 win season, that Kraft is seriously considering moving on from BB within the next 2-3 years is very likely wrong. I won't say with certainty, but I get the sense that BB's job is pretty darn secure right now.

It wasn't good enough to win. They need to not turn the ball over and find a way to finish drives with points.

Why, because he's blind to see wide open players?
Aren't these guys trained to look at multiple receivers?
Hard to tell from the TV but he missed Agholor down the side line and was a bit off ona few short passes after the injury but i didn't see wide open receivers at all. Everyone looked covered and all the passes looked like last year. No seperation and constant contested cathces. No one with any space to be hit in stride and run with the ball.

Agholor had a full step down the sideline and Mac missed him. Bourne created separation on his 'go' route. Jonnu had some space on the fade that Mac missed to him. Had some guys coming open in the flat and boundary that they hit on several occasions.

There were positive signs in there ... but unfortunately overshadowed by turnovers and poor execution at critical moments. It wasn't a very good game of football, but there is a lot of time to improve.

They had moments but 270 yds total offense is not moving the ball well at least not well enough to win most games. If it isn't Bill feeling the pressure what is it? 4 years ago i'm pretty sure that wouldn't have been good enough and he would have said so. Maybe he is concerned about the confidence of the offense and doesn't want to crticise to the media.

Bill isn't worried, Mac SUCKED.
Zappe will be under serious pressure if he needs to go, but I'd prefer him to Hoyer.

One of the trademarks of McDaniels was that he’d figure it out. We could be stumped for a couple of qtrs but he’d figure it out and put the O in a good position to make some plays. I didn’t see any figuring it out from Patricia and Judge today. First drive we looked good but once the Phins adjusted we had no answers.

they have flores who probably knows how to play vs the pats.

This is a very good point, I had forgotten about that.

Expect to see a lot of single-high safety, man coverage, and blitzes. Flores likes that stuff a lot and it's given the Pats issues. Will need Bourne on the field for some man-beaters. Take shots down the field, outside the numbers to Bourne, Agholor, Parker ... try to hit a big play or two and get some leverage back, I think that's the best answer.

Miami 20-7 over New England

Patriots
For a minute there, it looked like all that worrying about the Patriots' offense was going to be thrown out the window. On the opening possession, they were moving the ball down the field with relative ease. However, Jones was later picked off in the end zone on a deep shot to DeVante Parker and it was largely downhill from there. After the pick, they punted twice and allowed a strip sack that was returned for a touchdown over the final drives of the first half. In that time, Miami jumped out to a 17-0 lead. New England's offense did find the end zone on its opening possession of the second half, but then proceeded to end the game with a punt, turnover on downs and a fumble.

Dolphins
The Dolphins started the Mike McDaniel era on as good of a note as you could hope for, beating the Patriots at home rather convincingly. While so much was made about the Miami offense and how the 49ers influence will impact how they move the ball, it was actually the defense that separated itself from New England. The unit forced three turnovers on the afternoon, including two clutch turnovers in the first half. On the opening possession, the Patriots pick off Jones in the red zone and later forced a strip sack that was recovered for a touchdown. Those two turnovers alone directly contributed to 10 points being put on the board. As for that offense, Tyreek Hill is a target vacuum, seeing 12 looks from Tua Tagovailoa on the day and leading the team with 94 yards receiving. Second-year wideout Jaylen Waddle also made his presence felt with a back-breaking 42-yard touchdown. What keeps Miami out of the "A+" range was some questionable decisions by Tagovailoa down the stretch, which will undoubtedly keep the lingering question going if he can truly be the franchise guy.

What?
-15 plays, 92 yards, TD drive
-60 yard drive that ended just outside the Miami redzone with an Agholor fumble

A bit disingenuous to say there was no answer. Who knows how the drive Agholor fumbled on turns out but it's funny how you said "had no answers" and yet 1 of them was clearly getting Bourned invovled when he came in and hauls a 40 yard catch. Whatever issue they got with Bourne the coaching staff better put it in a box and put it away for the season because Bourne just has consistently made plays.

Funny thing is for all the hype Miami is getting about their offense they didn't move the ball really any better. I mean seriously got look at the drives. Their best drive was a 90 yard drive and half those yards came on 1 bad coverage snap against Waddle. Miami's 2nd longest drive of the game was the last drive of the game and could be considered more garbage time than anything.

Yards per play :
Pats 5.0
Miami 5.2

Pats yards: 271
Miami yards 307 (265 if you take out the busted coverage on Waddle) (210 yards if you take out the final drive were the defense was just gassed from the humidity and wanted to get out of there down 2 scores.)

Got people calling the defense atrocious and praising miami's defense. Pats offense was supposed to be bad, right? It's all we heard in pre-season. Miami won the off-season and is supposed to have some track star offense and they ended up with 5.2 yards per play with Domestic Abuser and Waddle against "The worst secondary in the league".

1 bad play from the offense and defense were the difference in this. Giving up the TD to end the half and the sack fumble TD.

That INT in the end zone should have been Pats at the 1. Pats go up 7-0
Miami kicks a FG 7-3
Pats Punt
Miami Punt
Miami Defensive TD 10-7
Pats Punt
Miami TD 17-7
Miami Punt
Pats TD 17-14
Miami FG 20-14
Pats Punt
Miami Punt
Pats 4 & out (don't think they would have gone for it here down 6, they would have punted to pin them deep because outside of the Waddle TD they hadn't moved the ball)
Miami Punt
Pats Fumble in Miami territory with 5 minutes left (this drive started at the 5 because Miami punted from midfield)

1 bad no call on the 1st drive set the tone for the game.

Just watched the extended highlights of the game. As is usually the case, after a little bit to cool off and upon re-watching, things aren't as bad as they seem.

Mac wasn't perfect but I feel like after watching this video, people are being a bit too critical. Not a great performance, but far from an awful one. He threw a few nice balls with some zip on them - 6:25 in the attached video is a good example. Wasn't a rocket ball, but it was a crisp throw with a nose flat/down trajectory, into a tight window in traffic over the middle of the field. Ball travelled 13 yards in the air relative to the LOS, and 20 yards in the air from where Mac threw it.

The turnovers were really the backbreakers. Defense needs to tighten up on 3rd down. Mac needs to keep drilling his mechanics. But there were enough good plays to feel optimistic moving forward for the time being, IMO.

A no-call penalty in the end-zone and a busted coverage TD is the difference between A & D I guess.

Like I posted above

Yards per play :
Pats 5.0
Miami 5.2 (4.4 per play if you take out the busted coverage on Waddle)

Pats yards: 271
Miami yards: 307 (265 minus the busted coverage on Waddle)

Pats are the ones with the "worst WR and CB corp in the league" Miami is the one with "the deep WR corp and great secondary"

Honestly think this game says a lot more about Miami than it does the Pats and call me a homer on copium but it doesn't bode well if they need to get 4 turnovers (1 of them a TD) and refs to look the other way on end-zone penalties.

"thrashing the Patriots" HAHAHAHA. I really like how he just handwaves at how their offense really wasn't much better than the Pats offense. Mac gets the ball out a second faster or Patricia calls for a run and it ends a 13-7 game.

They scored SEVEN points!! SEVEN!! That is winning you exactly ZERO GAMES in the NFL!

In fact, the offense let up seven points so that is akin to being shut out!
Just like last year, the defense could not get off the field towards the end of the game. Miami just ran out the last 5 minutes of the game.

Watching Shaq Mason road grade last night, while Owenu and Strange were getting run over made me sick. You will never justify those moves to me, NEVER! Strange is not a first round talent, not even close!

The Pats are extremely lucky that TJ Watt got hurt, but this is going to be a long season.

The TOs and the TD at the end of the half were uncharacteristic of a BB team. The defense was disgusting on that play. Almost all of these players were here last year. They should know better.

The ref missed the call, but Parker needs to go get the ball on that pick. It’s what he’s supposed to do. It’s why he’s here. He’s not here to be N’Keal Harry. Why the hell are they throwing at Howard anyway?

They played even with Miami on the road, but Miami is not a good football team, at least not yet. They lost by 13.

They can beat Pittsburgh if they play better. Pittsburgh, Miami: these are the easier games. They should win these games.

Some cleaning up from yesterday: Offensive snaps:
