Well I know your CB's and secondary is good/great, and prepared by BB so Im wondering wow KC WRs looked great, really big and fast tonight. Alex was perfect Alex, but the KC WR's might be better than anyone in the NFL thought they were. If KC starts putting up 30-40pts on teams in the next few games we will know its not a fluke. But what I saw was way better team than i thought was in KC

Not sure everyone else is going to leave the fastest guy in the NFL uncovered or ask a DE to cover the running back.

1 Travis Kelce is a punk punching that guy in the gonads. Some team captain.

2. Great job by Reid, Sutton and the Chiefs on their game plans. Plus, they executed them almost to perfection. KC took away Gronk BB style. From the get go, KC won the toss and deferred as BB has done countless times.

3. This game was KCs Super Bowl. Knocking off the champs is like winning it all for them. Remember wen **** Vermiel bragged to Lamar Hunt that he beat the World champs for him? Break out the champagne.

4. The Chiefs are Bradys regular season kriptonite. That is his 3rd loss against them and he blew his knee out against them in another game.

5. Brady was off all night over throwing guys that were open.

6. Goodell got what he wanted.

7.Why is there a XLI Champions patch on the 2017 Pats uniform? That was last year and the Pats have never been about what happened last week. BB should get it off of there.

This offensive stagnation without Edelman doesn't surprise me at all.

Correlation is not causation and all that but we went 9-0 in 2015 with Edelman then 3-4 in the last 7 games when he went out and our offense looked hectic and limited against the Eagles and Jets in particular.

Our defense looked almost as bad against the Seahawks last year and that was in week 10, so i'm not too worried yet.

I really think we lost the game late in the first half. The D played two good drives in a row, got the ball back quickly, and we were up 17-7 with 3:44 to play in the half with our ball. One good, methodical, characteristic Brady drive would have made it 20-7 at the very least. Instead, we went 3 and out then the defense let Smith march for 92 yards. Not to mention getting zero points from that fumble, just 3 out of Cooks marvelous catch and going twice on 4th and 1 and playing the exact same play.

Once Amendola and Hightower went out so did the game.

This was a winnable game. We dominated 25 minutes in the first half yet we were up only 3 at half. Lots of mid-game injuries to important players, inexcusably bad play calling, no chemistry on offense and putrid defense and we were still in up until the last 5 minutes.

We have no where to go but up and i don't think it's going to take a long time for that to happen.

Brady: 16/36, 267 yards= 27 points. Let that sink in. I give the Chiefs their due respect. They played very well, but calm down guys. Brady completed less than 50% of his passes & STILL managed to hang 27 on a damn good defense. I know there were a couple of short fields, but the points were still scored. KC is a good, solid team. Basically everything went right for KC last night (except Berry possibly being IR'd). We hung 28 on SEA in the SB & Brady played out of his mind. Let's not jump out the window because of one game. "Our season" doesn't really start until around Turkey Day. We need to keep things in their proper context. Let the best coach work his off the field & The GOAT QB work his magic on the field & see where we are by Nov/Dec.

Would be great to play KC again this season.

In KC so be it.

Well, that looked like a preseason game. And BB probably was thinking of it as one. 1st half raggedy but decent. 2nd half, uggh.

O line looked good. Some decent skills talent. I expect dividends once the rep count gets up and some continuity is established.

D was a hot mess. LB continues from preseason to look disorganized and guessing instead of knowing where to be. Lots of recognition and comms problems throughout the D. Still, some signs for the future. It'll all get better.

Fortunately, the condition of the division gives BB breathing space to fiddle and tinker until things are working better. As long as we make the playoffs with team performance on the upswing I'll be fine.

Finally, if there are lockerroom issues as was hinted at then expect BB to give someone a swift boot out the door; he's got no patience for that since the Adalius "Toes up at home" era.

Brady spends a lot of time talking about "trust" with his receivers so it is hard for me to truly assess his performance when he was only playing with one receiver he currently "trusts" in Hogan (who was being covered by a top corner instead of the #3 as usual) and Gronk who he has not played with in nearly a year. Knowing exactly where someone will be in 2 seconds has always been the key to this offense and with that missing they struggled. That said, they had scored 27 points seconds into the 4th quarter so it was not like they were shut down. The team seemed to come up just short of a first down on at least a half dozen plays. An extra 2 feet on 4 or 5 of those plays would have changed the entire complexion of the game.

He overthrew several people that were wide open.

A few times the over-throw was because the receiver got held. A couple of times Tom was getting rid of the ball. I only remember one or two where it seemed like he wasn't on the same page with the receiver. Once was a play involving Gronk, so not sure what happened there.

Tough game tonight...game changed after failed 4th down conversion after non Gronk TD.....Defense needs work, Tom needs more time with our new wideouts, hoping High and Danny are good to go in 10 days.
Some strange Offensive calls as well.

Alot to review. Let's discuss
Agree with all of this. I thought the first big mistake (coaching) was not kicking an easy FG in the first half when we were ahead. What happened to take the points early, go for it late? There was no need to go for it on 4th down there, and that led to the wind leaving the sails when the O got stuffed for the 2nd time on 4th down (when admittedly they were out of FG range and the call was at least understandable there). They looked really tentative on the play. The O really went south when Amendola got hurt; before that he was the only one getting open consistently. KC did a good job of hanging off of Gronk all night, and after Amendola went down, that was it. Brady couldn't do anything, and why did we go into panic mode and throw long ball after long ball? Oy.

The defense looked confused all night (lots of pointing, moving and flapping out there), particularly after Hightower went down, and could not seal either edge to save themselves. Malcolm Butler suddenly looks like a lost rookie.

Glad they have 10 days off to regroup and work out the kinks. Defense worries me more than offense.

If Moss was Moss 2.0, “he'd still be in New Orleans“ as well. Some circumstances are different of course but some are quite similar. Lets give Cooks (and Brady and McD) some time. The way WR story is going for the moment, hopefully Cooks can step up in that conversation on the field as well..

True. But take away some of the KC penalties that way and this thread completely blows out..

???

These posts don't make sense.

Andy brought in Donnie for a motivational speech pre-game, seemed to give the Chiefs the boost they needed

Butler's losing himself a lot of money if this continues.

Great take by BB:

“We just really weren't competitive enough, especially on offense and defense.”

Special teams was what most people feared most with KC weapons and NE missing so many key pieces plus installing brand new guys . and they did very well indeed esp. in coverage..

The fact that it was the chiefs and in your building pretty much sucks. This team will face better offenses than the chiefs. That defense needs to tighten up.

Well said. This is still the Julian Edelman offense and what they did was try to plug Amendola in Edelman's place, but it's just not the same. Edelman has an uncanny ability to create separation and get open in two seconds and get to the right place at the right time (just past the down line) and it's just not possible to recreate this talent. Despite that, the offense was getting by until Amendola came out of the game, then it went off a cliff because Brady lost both his two favorite third down targets that could work the underbelly of the defense.

I think what we'll see is the Patriots (and Brady) realizing that this is a mistake and that the offense needs a completely new identity. It needs to reinvent itself instead of trying to find a substitute for Edelman. That is too big a void to fill.

Just my thoughts but I partially agree. It won't be a new identity because this team's offensive bread and butter should still be the short/intermediate passes. IOW, I don't think asking Brady to play like Flacco is the key.

What will change is how to create or open up the short/intermediate routes imo.

Edelman could create his own space so much so that it would occasionally open up Hogan/Cooks on the deep routes. Now, I think, they will have to use the deep threats to open up the short/intermediate routes. Dorsett will have a role in that.

I remember watching film of the Ravens game last year and seeing Weddle bite on Edelman's route which left Hogan wide open up the seam. Now I think the reverse has to happen with either Cooks or Dorsett or eventually both forcing defensive personnel to "bite" on the deep route opening up the short/intermediate routes. Or something like that.

Anyways I'm not worried about the offense because I think they have the tools to do what they want and they looked decent at times last night. I think they need to lean less on Amendola and more on Lewis, White and Burkhead.

The defense is what I'm interested in seeing. I want to get a clear picture of what happened last night and see how it improves from week to week. That should fun because I'm sure they'll improve.

Harmon said lowest energy on sideline in the 5 years he's been here. Well that's great.
