This was not a primary QB or OL problem. We have a WR issue now. Peters flat out erased Hogan, they doubled Cooks to limit the damage and Berry fought Gronk to a draw. Hogan made great strides last year - but learned tonight what doing up against a CB1 was like. People complained about targeting DA so much - that is all that was left (did not get the backs involved). If anyone thinks JG would have been better, they are nuts.

Those guys didn't win their matchups. I was surprised we didn't see more passes to our RBs

I cant even unwrap the stupidity in this statement. So the game was only close because KC kept interfering with our receivers, behaving like neanderthals by pushing footballs into the balls of others and doing additional illegal things ? What does that even mean ?
Wow...the stupidity you say? You sound like a child whining about penalties that "should have been" how bout the team plays to the level they should play?
That's typical though...the spoiled fan base that has become an embarrassment to the team.

I don't disagree completely, except that I think Berry actually won the match-up mostly. Gronk was still a beast blocking tonight, but he was mostly a non-factor in the passing game, and you just have to give it up to Berry for the way he played tonight. He's one of the best in the game at his position and his play showed that tonight against the very best at the TE position.

Just a theory. Do you think the Patriots were off today because the team wanted to make a statement in this game and were too excited? Its possible Brady and The Patriots wanted to show the world how much of a force they were and everything just crumbled and the defense and Brady began to panic.

At least its better than saying we stink.

I really thought the chiefs would have a pedestrian passing game since they got rid of some guys. Tonight was ridiculous.
It was sickening. And no one with half a brain in their skull would say otherwise.

Yeah, all of the summer long talk about how versatile the RBs would be, catching balls out of the backfield etc, and yet for some reason they didn't even attempt it.

Well I know your CB's and secondary is good/great, and prepared by BB so Im wondering wow KC WRs looked great, really big and fast tonight. Alex was perfect Alex, but the KC WR's might be better than anyone in the NFL thought they were. If KC starts putting up 30-40pts on teams in the next few games we will know its not a fluke. But what I saw was way better team than i thought was in KC

Someone convince me that somehow, someway, our defense will be better

They can't get any worse. Some of it was blown coverage and having linebackers on running backs. This run defense was top 3 last year I believe.

No doubt. We had a WR issue when Edelman went down. At that point they were one injury away from things getting really dicey.

Losing Mitchell to IR and now having Amendola hurt really puts things in a bad place, particularly in an offense where the bread and butter consists of short/intermediate timing routes and a quick release of the ball.

That's not to say that they're screwed, but it certainly is a position of need at the moment.

It's just one game guys the whole team looked very rusty maybe just the ass whuppin' they need to wake them up. I'm more worried that this loss could cost us homefield down the road.

I think KC could give Oakland a run for its money in the division if their offense was a little improve.

That doesn't change the fact that Alex freaking Smith just torched this D.
That guy is way lower echelon. Inexcusable on opening night, in your house.

Edelman loss
Hightower missing all that time, then getting hurt even before he could really get back into the flow
Gronk timidity
Cooks softness
A bad (at least right now) LB corps, made worse by the absence of even a JAG like McClellin
Some basic bonehead defensive plays
Brady being uncomfortable without his binky
Depleted WR corps
Malcolm Brown's play
Questionable playcalling regarding the RB usage

There's more, but that'll be enough to keep BB busy for a while.

I see it this way:

2016 - 3-1* / 14-2 - SBW
2015 - 4-0 / 12-4
2014 - 2-2 / 12-4 - SBW
2013 - 4-0 / 12-4
2012 - 2-2 / 12-4
2011 - 3-1 / 13-3 - SBL
2010 - 3-1 / 14-2
2009 - 3-1 / 10-6
2008 - 3-1* / 11-5*

Average - 3-1 / 12-4

I am not overly concerned. A loss in the first four games is right on average.

Someone convince me that somehow, someway, our defense will be better

It will be better. It has to. Will it be elite or above average? Not without some outside help.

Also, looks like Eric Berry tore his Achilles. What a ***** slap. Overcome cancer, play like a beast and get the Achilles. Meanwhile TJ Ward and that psychopath Burfict keep humming along.

Ain't fair at all.

That's what I thought as well. They will have to win those keys games against Oakland and Pittsburgh. A lot of people thought the pats had an easy schedule but I don't see it.

yeah but what i saw , and might be wrong is Brady never got the time to pass to Cooks, and maybe that was KC D strategy, limit the deep plays. Im not sure

Wow. Didn't know that. That's a huge loss for the chiefs
