Because I watched the games. I saw how simplified they made the offense and how bad the defenses were he played against. He didn’t do nearly enough to show me that he was a viable long term starter.

And yes, when you are drafted in the fourth round, the burden is on you to convince people you are a starting QB. First rounders have the luxury of having to prove to people they are not a starting QB.
That's utter nonsense. The rounds have no bearing. You forgot to mention that Zappe is actually a rookie and Mac is a vet. Rookies need time to develop. He's way ahead of the curve.

The throw to Parker was a good to very good throw. DB was all over him and Zappe put the ball in a place where only Parker could make a play on it. He made the play and made a very good catch. The throw to Meyers was either inaccurate or a misunderstanding by one of them as to where the route was going, to the pylon (Zappe) or inside up the numbers (Meyers).

They were playing the Bears. I think this needs to be mentioned, because people seem to be overlooking it.

They were playing the Bears. This should have been a chance to get Jones out there knocking off some rust against what might be (at least prior to the Panthers' fire sale) the worst team in the NFL.
The Patriots have been a .500 team since Brady left they aren't good enough to overlook anyone, they're closer to the Bears than the elite.

This game was awful in all phases.
Bailey was bad with punts.
Special teams failed.
Trent Brown with multiple costly holding calls.
Defense making Fields look like Lamar Jackson.
Mac today didn’t look like a starter. Maybe BB realized he wasn’t 100%. He’ll the way he played it looked like he was 50%.

BB didn’t have a clue how to stop the Bears.

Zappe? He was solid for like 5 mins then he disappeared. He showed quickness when making decision.

From the coaching staff to players they were all terrible.

Short week, lots of issues on both sides of the field and we are going to be playing the best Jets have been playing in almost a decade.

We need to draft physical middle linebackers if we expect to stop the run. You have to have some physicality in there and we don’t. Also our defensive tackles haven’t done much at all. It seems like we just can’t hold it together more than few games in a row.

This team needs to get healthy and quickly.

Yes. If you're going to be talking about this game, and Zappe, we're going to discuss this game, and Zappe. You're making the comment about benching Jones over 1 int, but Zappe tossed a pair of them tonight, along with being off on the deep balls, throwing what could have been a third INT, and having the defense batting down his passes like Mutombo swatting away soft layups from short point guards.
You make it sounds like that it’s all Zappe has been doing for the last 3 games. It’s not!! It’s a half! Nobody is allowed to have a bad half? You use this half to make the point that Zappe is not the guy but ignoring all the halves that says that Jones isn’t either. Mac Jones deep aren’t always accurate. At least 2 picks in the first 3 games came from underthrown deep balls.

If Zappe plays more and it’s the same story you will not hear a single excuse from me but until then I want to see if he can work around his size.

In the end, my opinion is that both QB are similar but I think Zappe will make less bad decision with the football than Mac that’s why I want him.

I will stop responding to you on this matter in this thread because it’s clear neither of us will change our opinion so I will not continue in a deaf discussion.

Have a good night

It's not like Bama QBs have been lighting up the league.
No they haven’t. When you take a player from an Ohio St or Bama there’s always that concern if they are being elevated due to the talent around then.

The Patriots have been a .500 team since Brady left they aren't good enough to overlook anyone, they're closer to the Bears than the elite.

I didn't say anything about overlooking the opponent. I'm just making the point that the opponent is a very bad team, and is one that they should have been able to beat even with poor QB play for part of the game. Prior to this game, the Bears season high in points had been 23, against the Texans. To repeat:

They were playing the Bears.

Exactly the Mac Jones fan club is acting like Zappe has already played 20 games in the league and Mac 3

You make it sounds like that it’s all Zappe has been doing for the last 3 games.

Not sure where you're getting that from, as I specifically noted that I expected him to play more down to his level, and not at some level that he'd been playing for 3 games.

I'm not ignoring anything. You seem so caught up with Zappe that you're missing a whole lot, though.

If Zappe plays more and it’s the same story you will not hear a single excuse from me but until then I want to see if he can work around his size.

Jones will start, if he's healthy.

In the end, my opinion is that both QB are similar but I think Zappe will make less bad decision with the football than Mac that’s why I want him.

But they're not really similar, beyond the unsurprising basics of pocket passing. The "similar" argument reminds me of when BB tried implying that about Brady and JAG. History has shown us how that's turned out.

I will stop responding to you on this matter in this thread because it’s clear neither of us will change our opinion so I will not continue in a deaf discussion.

Have a good night

Time will tell. But, like I said, don't bet the farm.

You've followed BB long enough to know better than that. Come on, now.

Mac wanting to become like Brady…bush league play right here

Honestly one of the WORST performances by offense and “defense???” I have seen in many many years and just Horrible coaching and poor to No adjustments being made. Hard to find much positive in this Embarrassment tonight if we are being realistic. Pats not only couldn’t beat one of the worst teams in the league AT HOME….they joined them at the bottom of the pile…..

Jets week has suddenly become a must win game
If they sh!t their pants against one of the worst teams in the league at home, I don’t have much hope that they can beat NY on the road….

Only encouraging thing bout NY is Wilson can’t beat us strictly by his legs like Fields did.

I'm on the move on from Belichick train. He's a great coach and he's won us a lot of championships but I don't really know if he can turn this ship around again to being a championship caliber team. You can be a great coach but that doesn't mean your philosophy and culture can keep winning forever.
I can’t disagree that BB may “decide” to leave after this year….like you said nothing lasts forever and he has been a great coach here. So much changed dynamics wise since Brady left and they were an amazing team. We will see what happens after this year but he’s made some of the worst coaching decisions (and arrangements of his coaching staff) in his career

Everything begins with run defense and we had no desire to do it. Wildcard hopes have taken a hit tonight.
This team isn’t going anywhere this year if we are being honest….so many weak spots and issues from sloppy, lazy play to undisciplined penalties….and horrible coaching.
