Hunter Henry is a top 10 NFL TE, he's been seemingly phased out this offense, even with Parker out he still didn't get any looks, imagine if Mac had a TE, however Mac does need a bona-fide WR and we need ty Montgomery back!
Ty Montgomery hasn't done anything this year. Him being back doesn't do anything for the offense that they don't already get out of Stevenson.
Mac's issues have been: (in no particular order)
- Not going through his progressions properly (either locking on to players, rushing his progression or taking to long)
- The only consistent thing has been his not seeing open receivers
- his footwork has been worse than last year
- still taking bad sacks (worse than last year)
The Pats need to give Mac more Play-Action. Especially when RHAM or Harris have broken off several good plays.
I don't know what they need to do during practice to get Mac to look for the open receiver, but they need to do something.
Can we stop with the "play calling sucks" narrative? The play calling is getting more creative with every game and is looking better and better as each week builds on the last.
Mac was super mediocre, bordering on a disaster if not for the pick six being reversed. I’m glad we won but the prospects are still iffy moving forward.
Could be worse, we could have gone 2-14 in 2020, then used the resulting #2 overall pick on Zach Wilson. That guy can't even throw the ball out of bounds without getting picked off! Now that is a disaster!
Mac breaks rookie records last year at QB, took his team to playoffs, had high completion %.. he looked the part..
Now new scheme, new system that doesn't involve the use seemingly of Mac's strength.. idk did anything change? Did anyone leave the organization? Don't get all the mac hate..
There is no new scheme or new system. The outside Zone plays? Plays that Dante said they'd been running the whole time? Or the fact that they SUPPOSEDLY dumbed down the terminology? Please. Go ahead and explain how they aren't going to Mac's "Strengths"?
You do realize Hunter Henry was covered by the time he actually turned around to look for the pass. But I guess Jones could have thrown it at this point and hope Henry could catch it with the back of his helmet. If he threw it to Henry, there was a chance the defender jumps the route and brings it back for six. And the other defender was in Jones' face when he threw.
It was a bad call that the Jets didn't fall for. Blame Patricia for that one. Fourth and one and you run a trick bootleg play.
The nearly pick-six looks to be a miscommunication with Meyers on an option route - Mac said as much after the game. But maybe not a good choice even if they had been on same page.
The other int, Mac's arm got his as he threw.
Our OL really struggled today against a strong DL, particularly in the first half. Things improved when they went up-tempo with quicker throws.
The problem I see here is that he actually had Bourne coming across and open at about the 4 second mark. On the Left side, Meyers and Thornton had 3 guys near them the whole time. Meyers would have been open on the SEAM, which would have forced the Safety over the top to come through Meyers to try and make the stop.
This is a perfect example of Mac not going through his progressions and eyeing a receiver.
Macs potential and his ceiling is far from being reached, he showed the NFL he was more than capable of holding his own.. right now all the comparisons are unfair to him.. he just needs to continue to get better and play within the offense, if we continue to win then he has to get credit for that..
Well, I mean, if we're talking about almost, we can also say he almost had zero interceptions today. But yes, he could have had 3, or anywhere between 0 and 3.
I wish we could get XO's like this on every play. It appears Bourne was wide open... although 91 was totally destroying Cannon with pressure from the right.

If by completely covered, you mean running along the line, looking back at Mac waiting for the ball to get there with the Jets player 4 yards behind him.. Had Jones thrown it in front of Henry, it was a 1st down. The defender would have had to got THROUGH Henry to make the play you're suggesting.
