Game Day Thread Official Post Game Day Thread- Pats beat the Jets

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Can we stop with the "play calling sucks" narrative? The play calling is getting more creative with every game and is looking better and better as each week builds

Imagine if Hunter Henry had a decent QB
Last I checked he had one last season when he had 10 touchdowns.. you sure it's the qb or the a brilliant scheme to not involve a great TE...

As YOU describe the facts of Zappe's play, he has outdone Mac. Oh well, we'll see. I do think we don't know yet where this will end, don't reject at all that Mac might win the job, but to this point, I was certainly hoping for more from our first-rounder. Weren't you? And did not expect this much from the - what? -fourth-rounder.

The Bears told reporters off the record that they didn’t even prepare for Zappe because they didn’t think he was very good and weren’t concern if they played him. And they also said that they didn’t even need to rush him and just sit back and Bat balls. This not a way an opposing team describes a QB they think is a legitimate starter.

I wouldn't be surprised if Belichick suspects Zappe might be better right now but is just willing to give Mac more time to develop or prove that suspicion correct. The multi-year Richards experiment comes to mind.

I would be shocked if he felt that way. If Zappe becomes the starter again, it will be because he has completely lost faith on Jones not because he thinks Zappe is a legitimate starter.

It is amazing that this team will be over .500 with a win next week against a bad Colts team.

I wish Mac showed some of Zappe's pocket presence, pocket movement, and ability to find the open receiver. This game doesn't close the book on Mac. Or it shouldn't. I am happy to view this as his "knocking off the rust" game. He must show marked improvement next week and then again after the bye. I am not optimistic, but I would be thrilled to eat crow and to admit to being wrong.

Regarding the opinion that if Bill thought Zappe was better he would be playing...Bill is not immune to the weight of Mac being the 1st round pick last year. He really has to see what he has in Mac for better or worse. This is not a SB team. It's time to find out. Let Mac shake off the rust and show improvement over several games.

I wanted Zappe to keep getting all the reps and playing. But I understand why it's Mac's time for now.

I guess they misjudged, then, given that Zappe came in and almost immediately scored two touchdowns. I do take your point, but it doesn't move the needle at all for me. It'll be interesting, and when you root for a team with no shot at winning much, that's all you can ask for, and it's more than enough. I was a Pats' fan through some dreary decades, but I had a good time anyway.

Mac breaks rookie records last year at QB, took his team to playoffs, had high completion %.. he looked the part..

Now new scheme, new system that doesn't involve the use seemingly of Mac's strength.. idk did anything change? Did anyone leave the organization? Don't get all the mac hate..

Mac has no arm.
Did you see the analyst say on that pass it eventually got there.
Look what happened when the Bears figured out Zappe. The four drives. Four tipped balls at the line and two INTs. Zappe looked great vs the Lions who have the worst defense in the NFL. People overrate his game vs the Browns.

The Jets have one of the best. You are not comparing the two on equal footing.
We still don’t have a franchise QB we won on defense and the fact Wilson is terrible when pressured.
Wilson’s issues should be coachable.
Mac Jones having half of Chad Penningtons arm strength and not being able to read a defense and make a quick decision is a much bigger issue.

If Joe Flacco played we would have been killed.
Hell I think Mike White would have played better than Wilson.
Mvps of the game.

Mccourty.
Judon
Jonathan Jones
Cole Strange
Stephenson
Meyers
Folk!

The win is the same as Thelmer looking on the bright side of only being 82 years when he gets out of prison.

Funny how no one ever answers the question when people ask “why has Mac regressed?”
It is not usual for any player in any sport at any position to regress in year two. It is called the sophomore slump. In most cases it comes from higher expectations, in some it is complacency. Hopefully he has bottomed out and will start to recapture the calm and command that he dispayed as a rookie.

They’d be over .500
If they could have beaten a god awful Bears team at home last week.

This team is mediocre and can be beat by anybody

If Belichick truly thought Zappe was better, he would be starting Zappe. That is a simple fact. Zappe will get back in only if Jones plays himself out of the starting job. He didn’t today.
Mac Jones was a 1st round pick. Bailey Zappe was a 4th round pick.

Clearly BB thinks Mac Jones has more upside just judging by draft position alone.

Do I blame him for starting the guy he thinks has more long term upside potential? Nope.

But has Mac Jones actually played better than Bailey Zappe based on his work today or any of his starts in 2022? Nope.

Mac Jones had a mediocre offensive game against the Jets. Less than 200 yards passing, 1 INT 1 TD, a pick SIX that was called back thanks to a questionable roughing the passer call, and converted 1 out of 6 red zone chances into a Touchdown.

Mac did just enough not to lose, but I don't consider him as the main reason we won. That credit clearly should go to our defense and our kicker Nick Folk.

Well, yes. That's why I said it was amazing. :D

Good team win.
Defense played solid, Stevenson was a beast like always. I think pretty much Stevenson is one and Harris is two.

Mac needs to be quicker with his decision making…could have avoided hits and sacks. If he wants to last in this league then he must get rid of the ball quickly.

I still don’t think he is 100%.

Folk was automatic today. Crazy how the panthers game ended with two missed fgs, good thing we have a veteran solid kicker in our team.

Next week vs Colts is going to be a BIG game. We'll face Taylor and some very talented WR's. Either we go into the bye with a winning record or losing. Colts have a good D on paper, but haven't showed it that much. They beat the Chiefs in wk3, but then lost to TEN 2x, split with JAC, and beat the useless Broncos. With Ehlinger, they're probably pretty even with us in terms of potential. I'd like to see a much better offensive game plan... and execution.

ink
Really?!? How many point did Zappe get in the second half? How many INTs did he throw? I think they judged him fine.

"ink"?

We're good, methinks. I have to walk the dog.

Look at what happened in Mac's game against ______ (pick any opponent).

Wouldn't call RTP questionable.
