White still led the team in targets for 8 games and recs for 8 games as well, and that doesn't include the playoffs (like the monster 15recs on 17 tgts in the div round). Gronk started 11 and Edelman 12 games, plus they still had Dorsett, Gordon, and Hogan. Taking the safe play in dumping off to the RB isn't a not good thing sometimes. Interesting point about the designed plays, though. It did seem like it.
Man, some of you guys are something else. They won the game. It wasn't beautiful, but they did win, and they won pretty comfortably, against a 5-2 team who most thought the Pats had no shot against, in their house, with a week of narratives about how the Jets were "out for revenge" against NE after the spanking they got last year.
The offense absolutely could've been better - Mac's INTs are a problem - but considering the big mismatch with NE's injured OL vs NYJ's agruably NFL-best DL (and an overall very solid defense) I will take it... Baby steps. At least the defense was rock solid.
They should be firmly in the playoff picture at this point. The Jets should lose to the Bills next week and fall behind NE in the AFC standings. If the Pats beat the Colts as well then the Pats will be pretty comfortably in the middle of the wild card seeding.
I think part of what will gauge Jones' performance is the film review. On the plays where he ate the ball and took a sack, or threw it away, were there open players he should've seen? Was he able to articulate the coverages he was seeing?
Always good to beat the Jets but if this is how Mac is going to continue to play we officially have a quarterback problem and are back in the market for one.

The nearly pick-six looks to be a miscommunication with Meyers on an option route - Mac said as much after the game. But maybe not a good choice even if they had been on same page.
The other int, Mac's arm got his as he threw.
Our OL really struggled today against a strong DL, particularly in the first half. Things improved when they went up-tempo with quicker throws.
You are going to tell me that Mac had a near perfect passer rating on play action last year and now you think he sucks at it and it is all him. You think it has nothing to do with a completely changed offense, an OC who has no experience calling offensive plays, and the Pats rarely call play action for him?

It makes sense that there could have been a miscommunication on that play because there was no logical reason for him to throw there otherwise. I would still put the blame on Mac on that one, but it makes it less of a head scratcher.
