PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
I mean, the first-rounder is a pick the draft after next. Some guys here are really vociferous about how that's the shtty draft anyway. To me, it's more the "I'll gladly pay you $5 Tuesday for a hamburger today" nature of draft capital - that is, the value of future picks is additionally discounted the more years into the future you go.

It's going to be the 32nd pick anyway, fckers!

Maybe. You have the same insider information as Roseman to make such a claim? Yeah, I didn't think so. You are guessing and Roseman has the facts.
What insider information do think he has? You think Philadelphia employs better doctors than New England? He’s going to undergo a physical. It’s pretty open that they are in rough cap shape.

You must think Myles Garrett is huge liability for LA then. Otherwise why would Cleveland trade him.

Go to ChatGPT and type in "Does AJ Brown have knee drainage issues".

Let's make a deal. Anyone bummed about the player or the trade should not revel in any of the success the Pats and Maye have on plays that involve AJB. Take a pee break, grab another snack or beer out of the fridge, have a fond and solemn remembrance of Kashon Boutte, and join us for the next series.

That's awful logic, IMO. Suppose your partner goes out and spends funds from a joint account to get an old car (yes, 29 is old for WR1s) that they pay good money for. They say it's cool because it's proven to be a good car, yet it has some known maintenance issues. You don't like it one bit, but the deal is done, and there's nothing you can do about it. You can just refuse to ride in it to make some sort of point, but the reality is that your money is now spent on that car so it makes no sense to not get any use out of that car. But, yeah, when it breaks down, you get to say I told you so.

Just got home and I know y’all couldn’t wait to hear my two cents on this, so here it is.

LETS EFFFING GO!!! Great trade!

Bills fans when Beane got off his ass and traded for DJ Moore...

After the Pats traded for AJ Brown.....

Gotdammit! Our receivers just can’t seem to stay outta trouble..At least take a physical before you decide to get physical with the hunnies…

I’ve been expecting for several weeks now for him to be traded once Brown was acquired, but now that they actually have Brown, I’m kinda hoping they don’t. I get it’s a crowded room, but if he’s not disgruntled, it would be nice to have him one more year and then see if they can make a competitive offer for him as he nears free agency.

If nothing else, I think this will be a fun WR room to be in. Hope Boutte thinks the same!

Well, this has been fun, but the real point here is a simple one: If you think this team is a single wide receiver away from genuine competitiveness for a championship, you are delusional. The work of building a comprehensibly solid roster is not completed. It is in a way unfortunate that last year's success has conveyed to some an erroneous perception that we are at that point, but that perception is merely another aspect of your deluded state.
I would’ve rather them not give up a 1st but trading for Brown doesn’t mean they are done building their roster.

Bills traded a 2026 2nd round pick for DJ Moore and a 2026 5th round pick - roughly similar in value overall to sending a 3rd straight up.

Patriots traded a 2028 1st round pick and 2027 5th round pick for AJ Brown

Equalizing these into the same year, the Patriots traded 2026 3rd and 6th round picks for AJ Brown. So, the two deals are very similar in overall cost. However, Brown is the substantially better player.

Additionally, Moore is costing Buffalo around ~$25M per year. Brown is costing NE around ~$28M per year. So, Brown is also a much better financial value.

Oh, and DJ Moore is also a year older.

And complaining about the playbook already.

He turns 29 this month.

29 with bad knees in the NFL is old.

Greg Jennings retired at 32.

All these guys are 32: Odell Beckham, Mike Evans, Cooper Kupp, Mack Hollins
33? Davante Adams is then oldest WR in the NFL. That's it. No one else is 33. Randy Moss went to 33.

When you think of these guys, you think: they are old and close to done.

If things go very very very right, we'll get 3 good years out of Brown.

But if he gets injured, then less.

Overall, I've been up front in saying I don't like it from a team building perspective. Yet I've come to terms with the fact that this was going to happen right as the draft was over since we didn't draft a WR at all and Philly did, early. And I feel better that the first is for 2028 and we didn't have to give up a player like Boutte.

I like the positive vibes we're getting from AJB via social media. Maybe he is one of the outliers that can still have peak performance Age 29 and Age 30 seasons and he stays healthy. If so, our team should be good enough so the 2028 pick is pretty late in the round and we win the deal. If not, we get to watch Philly use an early 1st they got from us just when we'd probably really like to have such a pick. If that pick turns out to be a very good player, then we lose the deal.

Plenty of cope on 2 Bills drive as expected but some surprisingly giving the Pats their due for making this move.

Those poor bastards don't see the truth right in front of them.

(I especially liked the post about the Bills 'elite talent at DB' without including a single name)

Doubs is gonna eat so good this year.
