Gostkowski was a 4th rounder that didn't bust. There is no point in cherry picking the kicker you want to compare to. Silly discussion point expected from the board drama queens but you are a good poster.

but isn't gostkowski cherry picking as well because it is only one example?

Last time we took a kicker was in the 5th round and he never played, our current kicker was 10-14 in kicks 40-50 and 5 for 6 in over 50 last year...

He’s also reaching the age where we to look for his replacement. And he couldn’t handle kickoff duties after Bailey went down. Think I saw a stat were he was like 10% in getting an actual touchback on a kickoff last season.

So the G we picked also played tackle and the center has played guard and I am sure the kicker also led his soccer team in scoring, Gonzo played in the Venezuelan basketball league,. and the box safety/LB is also a rodeo clown.

Probably, but it seems like unless this kid is kicking 80 yard fg's and has 30 tackles on special teams Its hard to account for a 4th rounder on a trade up so basically we gave up a 4th and a 5th for him

That and the fact that we don't have a 5th.

But moving up to grab the kicker, ahead of the JETE... that's the head scratcher. Until, as Eisen says, that kicker puts the final nail in the JETE's coffin later this year, as he's sure to many years.

Clearly the Pats liked Moody but the 49ers got him in the 3rd, knowing the Pats had a lot of 4th round picks. I think the Pats liked Chad next best and thought the drop off after him was too great to pass up in the 4th.

because i view this year as crucial for mac and the pats to identify what we have in our qb so i want the pats to surround mac with support at OT and WR in the fourth and not a K
