IMHO, The Patriots have been trending upwards on defense since bottoming out against Seattle as the tweaked roster started to gel and peaked within the last 2 games.
The post Gronk offense is about to spike and peak on over the championship game and the super bowl.
The Texans game can be interpreted as a setback and reason to be concerned for the non believers but most likely it's a sign of a delayed peak:
1. While looking out of sync and unable to deal with inside pressure they still scored 27 points.
2. Brady had solid production with Edelman and Hogan and struggled when he went elsewhere. Having Mitchell take Floyd's reps and having Amendola able to shake his rust off now gives Brady 4 receivers that he can mind meld with (also white). This will take some heat off of a limited Bennett and allow him to be more productive.
3. Lewis has finally been fully assimilated into the offense. He showed how truly special that he can be against the Texans while having some ball security issues. This was his final dress rehearsal and he'll get that cleaned up.
4. Offensive line was exposed but there isn't another Clowney left and the Patriots have time to scheme adjust.
5. Having all of the pieces back will allow for more creativity and production.
In short Pats 77 Steelers 2 and wine is good.
