King had back to back game where he received 15 yard penalties, which for a punter, is really stupid. PFT says Gruden just didn't like his 'tude. King can boom some punts, but I think the belief here is that he might be too much trouble than he is worth. I'm guessing as a punter, that sliding scale (headaches vs. talent) is a lot less than say WR.

The last thing you want to see is your punter pinned someone deep, and then they start at the 20 because he got an unsportsmanlike penalty for celebrating his punt too much. I think BB would cut the punter on the spot if that happened in NE.

BUT check out these highlights, if he can keep his dancing down, he is a helluva punter

Forget the punter. I hope Bill would try and swap out our #18 for their #18. Kidding! I love Slater but damn Holmes is good too.

Frankly I don't give a damn from what foot he kicks. I'm tired of Ryan Allen's inconsistent play. One time he'll kick a very rare 50-yarder, then he'll follow-up with 3 times of under-40-yards. The boy has cost us field position too many times for too long.
Allen punted 58 times and the opponent totalled 105 return yards. There is more to qualify punting than kicking it as far as you can.

Hat off to the one who suggested Niklas a week or so ago. Could be quite a late FA find if he can stay healthy.

With 70 signed Id like a few more vets - now or after draft.

Maybe to be officially signed after May 8th to avoid the comp-pick complications?

Matthews could be a Camp body for the 90-man.

Niklas could be a legit candidate for the 53-man.

In my opinion, the only locks we have are Edelman, Cooks, and probably Hogan.

Mitchell, Britt, and Dorsett all have a leg up due to some familiarity with the system, but there’s still room for competition. Patterson is an unknown, as we could add a KR and cut him easily, should circumstances warrant a move like that.

Ultimately, you’re probably correct about Matthews, but I certainly wouldn’t be assuming much or writing him off, either.

Mathews would be a good signing if he comes cheap.

Can someone explain this to me? The guy has literally done nothing in 4 years in the NFL.

He's been a china doll, which has limited his game. They'd be taking a flier on whatever remaining potential they still view him as having.

Both 2014 2nd round draft picks that haven't lived up to expectations.
Doesn't hurt to take a look though.

Can’t catch a cold. He’s huge....perhaps a conversion to OT? They already have an elite blocker in Allen.

Unless he gets paid more than Lewis it doesn't really matter.

Coming off a knee injury that sent him to IR for the last five games of 2017. Unless that Pats are concerned about losing him to another team, might as well wait until after May 8th.

Mathews could be a bigger version of Welker here.
