I don't think we will like the price tag. But they have to bring somebody..

I can’t believe waddle or Fleming who have been closer to camp cuts than starting players are going to be very expensive.
I’m more worried that we are stuck with them than what they cost. If one of them is a starting OT he will be among the 5 worst starting OT in the nfl and that may be generous.

Thoughts on Casillas? Have good memories of him back in 2014. Wouldn’t want him starting, but did see a lot of starting action for the Giants. Could make nice depth at LB.
Good Special teamer who would only be useful in sub packages on d, if that. Plays too small to be a realistic option in a nickel base.

Except that wasn't the case when both filled in for Cannon this year.

IMHO, we may need to pay one of them to be a swing backup tackle, as we once did with Cannon. We may need to trade for a starter, if one is available.

Not sure how you can say that yet since we don't know what Casillas' cap number is going to be. We do know, however, that he's an improvement over Flowers. Further, I'm not sure why you're complaining about Casillas and, in the very next sentence, advocating giving up draft capital for Kendricks on top of paying him $7.6M. As for Curry? He looked like he was toast.

Last year the Eagles would let Kendricks go (not a fit and he wanted out) for a fifth as reported. Would you let our 6th go for Mychal Kendrick who is only 28? How much would the rest of the top end LB's want? Preston Brown or Zack Brown want at l;east that if not more as reported.
Do you think a very middle of the pack LB IMO will be the answer to our front seven issues? You are probably faster than any of our present roster LBs now that Flowers is a FA. Casillas was very good here 4 years ago.

Would it be a fair statement to say a very fast and good coverage younger LB cousin? Bradham just signed a $40mm five year contract. Kennard just signed a deal for almost $6mm per.

Hey, it's just my opinion that I would rather swap a sixth and get a LB that can fit a need with no injury concerns known coming into 2018. He had 55 tackles, 2 sacks and 6 PD. In today's market his price is not bad. Hightower started the same year, has missed twice as many games and is making $9mm. DH more of an impact? Yes. But have them both.

As for Curry, isn't an aging (he's only 29) decent NFL player right in BB's wheelhouse to exploit the best out of said player? Don't we need an edge setting DE at 279lbs, that can rush a bit?

Just thinking out loud.

OMG I can't believe it's been confirmed! Don't let him leave the building, Bill!

LOOVVVVE D-Mac & truly appreciate his value to the NE Defense. I’m actually one of the guys who defends him on this forum. However, due to factors such as his age & contract, I’m beginning to wonder if BB would actually trade him for a 2nd/3rd round pick (ex: to a team like AZ) and sign Mathieu which would in turn, offset the loss at multiple positions FS/CB/LB in dime situations. He’d likely be cheaper & just as; if not more versatile. The only thing I’d worry about is the loss of Mc Courty extremely high mental acuity; especially in our D.

Just a thought. BB is cut throat, unpredictable & economically savvy.

Tyrann Mathieu rumors: Former Cardinals safety could be eyeing New England Patriots

"I want to go somewhere where football and defense matters," Mathieu told Breer. "...It's not all about money for me. I want to go somewhere where I can be completely immersed in football, and it's not too much about anything but winning. I want to be a part of winning culture, where you feel that all the time. That's all I want."

“The Honey Badger is regarded as one of the league's most versatile defensive backs. He can play slot cornerback as well as either safety position. The Pats are in the market for a slot corner.”

Eh, he was okay but nothing to write home about unless improved a lot in Jersey.

Could be. He didn't have a lot of starting experience prior to being a late-season fill-in for the Pats in 2014. In the past three seasons, he started twice as many games and played at least as many defensive snaps as he had in his previous five seasons. One would hope he learned a thing or two

They weren’t good, and it was limited play. They probably were bottom 5 starting OTs when they started. We do a good job compensating for it but over the course of a season it’s a frightening prospect.

As a 3rd tackle they are fine.

The issue is whether we want to pay Kendricks $8M (and $9m in 2019). The 6th shouldn't be an issue (or a 5th for that matter).

The Patriots are up against the cap. They likely can't afford him just based on his contract alone. That doesn't include the draft pick they'd have to give up to get him. If you're asking me if I would like him on the team? Yeah, I would. He's a very good LB. But I don't think they can afford him right now.
