You don't "make them earn it" by using MORE HIGH VALUE draft picks... That's the recipe for disaster. The epitome of that was the Lions drafted 1st round WRs 3 years in a row. .You make them "earn it" by bringing in FA WRs who are on a 1yr/ low value deal and making Polk/Baker beat out those guys. You don't throw away MORE picks on WR when there are bigger issues. Particularly at OT.Not giving up on them you're are making them earn it. I really don't see the Pats drafting 2 guys, but if they did I am for it.
If you invest a 1st round pick in a WR, you're going to prioritize that guy over Polk or Baker. They aren't going to get a fair shake. At all.. There is no "making them earn it". It doesn't work like that and you know it.
The fact that there are people saying the Pats should bring in 2 VET WRs and 2 ADDITIONAL picks is lunacy. It says that only DOUGLAS is worth keeping. Which isn't reality. It's a "throw the baby out with the bathwater" mentality. It's led to numerous bad stints for franchises around the league. f
